Indiana State Police officers fatally shoot man who pointed gun at them
Ridley COUNTY, Ind. —
Indiana State Police officers responding to a domestic situation fatally shot a man who pointed a gun at them in Ripley County. It happened Sunday morning at a house on East County Road 900 North near Sunman, Indiana.
Sgt. Stephen Wheeles with the Indiana State Police said 37-year-old Joshua Ebinger violated a protection order and that led to a woman at the home calling 911.
“This was a very serious call from the get-go. It was a domestic situation involving a gun. The officers already knew a gun was involved in the situation when they were responding to that residence,” Wheeles said.
Wheeles said officers removed the woman from the house safely, but then Ebinger stepped outside holding a gun.
“I was in my room, and I just heard the cops saying, ‘Put the gun down,” said a neighbor.
Investigators said Ebinger ignored their commands and then pointed the gun at two of the officers.

Armed Murder Suspect Fatally Shot By CHP Officers During Standoff On 105 Freeway Transition Road In Paramount
PARAMOUNT (CBSLA) — A man with a gun was fatally shot by California Highway Patrol officers Monday following a chase and a standoff on the westbound 105 Freeway in Paramount.
Jesse Medrano, 35, had been identified by the LAPD as a suspect in a Sunday triple shooting that killed his own father, 61-year-old Ruben Marrufo.
According to the CHP, a disabled vehicle was reported on the right shoulder of the westbound 105 Freeway to the northbound 710. After a CHP officer arrived at the scene, they determined the van was possibly stolen and its driver was wanted in connection with a double homicide.
The driver, later identified as Medrano, appeared to be agitated and was holding a gun in video taken from Sky 2. He gestured several times as he spoke to CHP officers.

That fancy Peacemaker needs some some guy with studded chaps, silver spurs and a fringed vest.
You’ll see some of that sort of thing around certain biker events! Veritable costume shows of motorcycle chic, boutique, accessories, paraphernalia, doodads and fashions galore.
And a belt buckle as large as a serving tray.
Two reasons to bring out a gun – clean it or use it – it’s not a signal flag.
A Twofer. Today’s lesson, girls and boys, is DO NOT point things at people…’specially when the things are guns and the people are armed police officers.
IIRC (without doing the Foo of Google), Paladin’s Peacemaker was custom built to be used by the TV show, and Matt Dillon’s was an original 1893 SAA. The .45 is the perfect cartridge to make holes in things…including jukeboxes. Just ask Bubba.
And as David, others, and I have pointed out many times, it is laughably sad that Hollywood depicts the 1873 Colt’s Revolver being used in time frames that were well before 1873. Almost as sad as the zippers on the backs of Miss Kitty’s dresses.
Well Bubba was never accused of being mentally stable.
That Peacemaker is a bit fancy for EDC, but if someone gave it to me I sure wouldn’t turn it down.
Too many LEOs paying the price for Obama’s War on Civilization.
I saw a meme some time ago that fits today’s stories rather well. It says, if you point a gun at the Police and get shot, you are not the victim of anything. In my mind it should also add, except your own stupidity.
Given the number of hostile actions being taken against Police today, thank you for that war on cops obama, it is even sillier to think pointing a weapon or assaulting an Officer is going to have any positive benefit for the perp. There were 3 LEO’s murdered in the last 4 days including one in my home town, Tucson. There, 3 Leo’s were shot by an uninvolved perp while they were trying to remove a potential smuggling suspect from a train.
‘Ed,
Is that “SAA” an embellished real thang? Or is that a cap gun play toy (like yesterday’s flintlock pistole?) Not that there’s anything wrong with toys, or showing then to us, but some of us would like to get edumacated on being able to spot the differences between real vs toy by the pictures.
There is no ejector rod or ejector rod housing. There is the funky pseudo adjustable sight at the rear. And that spur on the trigger guard! Not to mention the grips appear to be cast as part of the frame. I’m going for ‘cheesy toy’. Think Ed is cruising the toy sites for inspriration
I thought the expended cap tape projecting above the hammer a nice touch.
Yes, that gave it away. KOB apparently even nailed the Hubley model of cap gun. When I was a kid, I had a couple of the Hubleys, but not one that ornate.
I couldn’t good enough resolution to even see the tape. Either my devices or my eyes need upgrading…
I was wondering what that shadow was at the hammer.
Giggle snort. Ok Grasshoppers, gather ’round. The gun pr0n depicted is a 1950s vintage Hubley Star (Vintage Toy, worth a lot in mint condition)
AW1 Ed is either (a) doing a little chain pulling directed toward the spapos or (b) knowing his affection for the Glocks (it being, in some’s opinion, a toy) doing some comparisons to same. YMMV
So, Ed, is this pic your response to the cuttlefish and I commenting about the toy flintlock pic? What’s next? The Mattel Fanner 50? Or, how about some Hubley’s; there are quite few models of those.
Gun Bunny is (mostly) correct. I thought a little chain pulling was in order from yesterday. I do try to post pics of at least working replicas, and post the one that looks the best. At times it’s hit or miss. *cough*
I have posted toys in the past, the Red Rider BB gun comes to mind, but won’t make a practice of it.
I am impressed with Lars’ knowledge of 18th century flintlock pistol toys, and will keep this in mind for future FGS posts.
Have a TAH day,
AW1
He is likely a COSplay fanboi, so he prolly has a number of the Denix fake guns. Bet he has the Denix catalogue.
I thought I recognized that gun, and a Colt it’s not. A quick google search show it as a toy cap pistol from the mid 50’s. I think I had one when I was a wee trooper. It was made of Zink pot metal and fired strip caps. There are plenty of good photos of real colts so you don’t have to use a kid’s toy.
