Stupid criminals of the week
A day late and a dollar short, but here’s the week’s funnies. First up, play stupid games…
‘Gun Prank War’ Has to Stop, North Carolina Police Warn
A prank war in one North Carolina town has prompted warnings from local authorities about the potentially deadly consequences after several people called the police.
The Roxboro Police Department responded to several reports of people pointing what look like real guns at drivers and other people as part of a “gun prank war,” according to a post on the department’s Facebook page. The warning has been shared over 900 times since it was posted just before 7 p.m. on Monday.
Roxboro is a city of roughly 8,300 people about 30 miles north of Durham.
Police said they “stopped several cars to find young people who admit to playing this game.”
“This (is) a dangerous and potentially deadly game to play,” Roxboro police said in the post. “There is nothing funny about this game. We urge those playing to stop immediately before you are arrested or prank the wrong person ending in tragic consequences.”
Similarly styled pranks in other parts of the U.S. have resulted in criminal charges, injuries or — in at least one instance — death.
In April, a woman 90 miles away in Lexington, North Carolina, said she was hurt trying to run away after a teenager jumped out from behind a car wielding a toy gun as part of a senior prank, ABC 45 reported.
She told the TV station she had to go to an emergency room and get an MRI after the incident.
In California, YouTube stars Alan and Alex Stokes, known for making prank videos, were charged after they tried to hail an Uber dressed in black, wearing ski masks and carrying duffel bags full of cash, McClatchy News reported. The district attorney said their videos “were not pranks.”
“These are crimes that could have resulted in someone getting seriously injured or even killed,” he said.
One person died in Tennessee following a similar incident. Timothy Wilks, 20, was shot and killed in February while he and a friend were filming a prank robbery for YouTube, McClatchy News reported. Police said a 23-year-old shot Wilks in self defense after the pair went up to a group holding butcher knives.

German pensioner given hefty fine for WW2 tank in house
ninja already mentioned this in the Weekend Open Thread, but for those that missed it. Here’s the BBC article on it.
Short version is that the dude had an arsenal, including a WWII-vintage Wehrmacht Panther tank, in his house. Apparently in some countries that’s illegal. God Bless the USA. If I wants a tank, I can haves a tank.
Man called in fake robbery to avoid telling his wife he lost money while at casino
We’ve all been there…
A man called police and told them he was robbed to avoid telling his wife he lost his money at a casino.
A Bellevue [Wash] police report says the man called 911 at 10:20 p.m. July 29, saying he was pulled over and looking to see how bad his car was damaged after hitting something in the road.
He then claimed someone walked up, demanded he get on the ground and give up his wallet. The supposed suspect then took the man’s cash and left while the man waited five minutes before calling for help.
Police say they later confronted the man about the improbability of his story, which is when he admitted it was fake.
The man then opened up, saying he lost all his money at the casino and faked the robbery as an excuse for his wife. He is now under investigation for false reporting.

Lastly, I’m conflicted on this final one. It’s stupid, but I can’t say I don’t agree with his results.
A Man Met His Sister’s Rapist In Jail. Now He’s Serving An Additional 25 Years For What He Did To Him
A Washington man killed his cellmate after learning that he was the convicted child rapist responsible for attacking his sister.
Shane Goldsby, 26, was sentenced to 298 months in prison for the June 2020 murder — just under 25 years, KHQ-TV reported.
“I cannot imagine what it would be like to lose a loved one in this kind of way,” Goldsby read from a prepared statement, before learning of his sentence. “To his wife and his whole family I apologize. I am so sorry and I hope you are able to heal from what I caused.”
Robert Munger, 70, sustained a skull fracture with brain contusions due to blunt impact from Goldsby on Tuesday, June 2 inside the Airway Heights Corrections Center, KHQ-TV reported. The Spokane County Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death three days later when he died in the hospital.
According to court documents, KHQ-TV reported Goldsby “[hit] Munger in the face and head area about 14 times, (stomped) on his head at least four times and (kicked) a couple more times before walking away and being taken into custody by Airway Heights Corrections Guards.”
Goldsby told KHQ-TV that Munger kept giving him details about the abuses he had inflicted on his victims. When Goldsby realized that Munger was his little sister’s abuser, he told KHQ-TV, “I was in shock. I was like, ‘what the f***?’… This stuff doesn’t happen. You’re talking the same institution, the same unit, the same pod in the same cell as this dude. That’s like hitting the jackpot in the casino seven times.”
In December 2019, Munger was sentenced to 43 years in prison after being involved in many child sex abuse cases, including that of Goldsby’s sister, The Spokesman-Review reported.
Goldsby was in prison for stealing a cop car in 2017 and causing a police chase, according to KHQ-TV.

First!
Lexington NC…Great BBQ…lots of idiots.
The childmolester story reminds Hack Stone of an incident on Okinawa back about 1985. Two Marines raped and murdered a female Marine, took her body out in town and set it on fire. Then they started withdrawing money from her account in an ATM. The two geniuses were quickly apprehended and placed in pretrial confinement. Just so happened that the murdered Marine’s brother was a Marine. On Okinawa. As a brig guard. Yeah, he fucked those guys up, good.
I tried to stop them from beating each other up but I failed.
Hack Stone,
Okinawa keeps track (of crime against Okinawans).
This list is not pretty.

Total lack of home training on them kids. Those of us that carry pretty much all the time are not going to try to confirm if the weapon pointed at us is real or fake.
I have a Compatriot that has a warehouse full of tanks…and cannons…and some vintage warbirds. They are all in full operating condition. God Bless America.
By the time “The Gambler” gets out of jail for lying to the popo, his d.i.v.o.r.c.e will be final. Gambled and lost. You got to know when to walk away.
I think Mr. Goldsby needs to be released with time served for his “good” behavior.
“I think Mr. Goldsby needs to be released with time served for his ‘good’ behavior.”
Seconded.
Back in my day Garbageman was an honorable profession.
I think Mr. Goldsby needs to be released for a mistake made by the confinement personnel. Don’t they track things like that? Is there no rule that says, don’t put the prisoner who was sentenced for attacking homosexuals in the same cell as the identified homosexual? Should be the same thing as don’t put the victims relative in the same cell as the perpetrator of a horrific crime!
I can perfectly understand though, when they mix up the people that knew Ms. Clinton and those whose families are currently employed by her. Sometimes they hide the relationship well!!
The Mark Felton video linked below mentions the origins of the tank found in the German basement.
If you outlaw [tanks], only criminals will own them.
Interrogative, does anyone know where one may purchase an ‘80%’ tank build kit?
I’m not saying I have a drill press but….
The guy also had Nazi memorabilia that is illegal in his country plus a shit load of non fireable small arms. I believe the tank and other stuff is being taken to a museaum.
I forgot to mention that the tank owner rebuilt the tank years ago and used to drive it around and use it as a snow plow.
“It’s a 120mm smooth bore snow blower.”
Last one reminds me of a case many years back, when a Louisiana man’s son was kidnapped and abused by the kid’s karate instructor. When said abuser was caught and flown back to Shreveport, walking (escorted) down the concourse, a man at a bank of phones turned around, stuck a .38 in the prisoner’s ear, and pulled the trigger. DRT. Yes, it was the father… and he was acquitted. Footage of it was shown even on AFN, I believe in 1984 or thereabouts.
It’s still on Youtube. This video shows the shooting and immediate aftermath. Extremely graphic, viewer discretion is advised.
I’d heard about that one.
Can’t say that the father was right, but I can completely understand what he did and why. For one thing, his son never had to relive the torture on the witness stand as some slimeball lawyer tried to get his abuser exonerated.
No parole from that sentence.
I remember watching that on the evening news the day that it happened. As for the 300 hours of community service that was part of his sentence, he had already performed a valuable community service by removing that scumbag from the gene pool.
