Body Cam Footage Shows Newark Cop Chase Down Armed Robbery Suspect
Newark police said the suspect held up two victims at gunpoint and forced them to drive him in their pickup truck

A Newark officer’s foot chase of an armed suspect accused of robbery and abduction was caught on camera and released by the department Sunday.

The video recorded from the officer’s body-worn camera shows the cop responding to a reported armed robbery of a silver Ford pickup truck.

In a pursuit that partially takes place on foot and in a police cruiser, the officer sprints after the suspect before taking him into custody.

The incident unfolded just before 12 p.m. Saturday after two victims were reportedly held up by the armed suspect and force to drive him in their truck, Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara said in a press release.

Before the responding officer spotted the truck, the suspect had allegedly forced one of the victims to pull cash from an ATM on Bergen Street.

Nice “knife”. I need to send you pics of my every day, under the driver seat, “beater” machete in its MRE cardboard-and-duct tape sheath.
Haven’t used it for anything lifesaving – yet. But like anything else, I’d rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.
And if ya like that one, I can send pics of a handmade knife with a deer horn handle.

Newark…gateway to Ft Dix and Ft Monmouth.
It was a shithole in 1968…it’s a shithole in 2021.

I went TDY to Ft Monmouth in the early 80s multiple times. The first couple times I flew in to Philly and rented a car. Later i went to Newark and rented. Every renatal car I ever got had the hubcaps in the trunk for safekeeping

What’s really sad about watching cop cam videos like this, is here we have a young, male, perp, unencumbered, supposedly fleet of foot……being run down by an older, equipment laden, police officer.
What is WRONG with today’s yutes? (/s)

Tox, that budding Fleet Manager of Rolling Stock and Income Redistribution Specialist might had a better chance in the track portion of his iditarod iffen he’d a had his britches pulled up where they belong…and secured with a belt. Not much of a chance, but some. And it’s hard to hold onto your weapon AND your pants while you’re running. Heh heh

Lubs me a nice sharp blade…of anysort. There’s a multitude of designs laying about, including a tobacco/cotton cropper, sugar cane knife, and a real nice old school butcher’s cleaver. That one can be rough on the bush too. Sadly, a lot of that stuff in stores these days is made by the Chinese Communists and ain’t worth a tinkers damn. Cutting implements and cast iron products are the FIRST (ht 2 Lurker Curt) things I look for at an Estate/Garage/Yard Sale.

I gots to jump offen the ‘net for a good while today, getting some beefing up of COP CRC/TR done. Y’all mind the store while I’m gone.

Chopping championship for knife makers held recently in Texas, and even the world champ showed up. A friend who is a relative neophyte went… said that by the time he made it through his 2×4, his opponent was finishing his third beer and a bowl of chili. Guess he lost. Competed with a world champ though.

Many moons ago(seemingly, in a galaxy far away…), myself and a friend would venture into one of our local militaria stores(antiques only, not-the-surplus) and yours truly would chance upon the establishment’s ‘bargain barrel’ – which was literally an old wooden barrel filled with every manner of cheap swords, all kinds of rusty old bayonets and a lot of other of metal military scrap that one would usually imagine to toss over their shoulder. At which point I began to carefully pick through it while my team-mate went off to `window shop` for other goodies of his own interest. You name it – there was every manner of edged antique and semi-recent-era steel junk that one might imagine to find in a store of this ilk. After sifting through this jumbled barrel of scrap for five minutes or so, I was checking out a rather ancient and very rusty K98 bayonet when I looked down and noticed what appeared to be the very distinctive olive drab handle of an old military machete. I put the bayonet down and pulled the machete out of the barrel and after giving it a cursory once-over and realizing it was in remarkably good shape, I unsheathed it to look at the blade – which I found to be a bit surface-pitted here and there but was still wickedly sharp and overall, still in really great shape. I checked the hilt of machete blade and saw that it’s issue stamp was still crisp and very readable – on the left side of the blade was stamped “U.S. – 1945 – True Temper”. I was pleasantly surprised at finding this company/corporate stamp as I realized that this is the very same present-day company that manufactured the tubing that my very modern-day mountain bike is constructed from. A closer examination of the machete’s green scabbard showed it to be a bit worn here and there but overall, still looking great with no apparent defects. After turning over the machete’s hang-tag and reading the surprising asking price of twenty dollars(no tax!), I decided that in spite of this ‘blade’ being somewhat long-of-tooth, it seemed to be a decent bargain and bought it. Sometime after that, I would get married and my wife and I would move into our first house whereupon my old machete and I went into high gear to clean out our entirely disused backyard of every manner of cruft, branch and bramble that one could imagine to find – that old machete made pretty short work out of all of it! Almost two years after that, I’d find myself working as a private military contractor. While packing up for my very first deployment, decided to strap my old machete onto my pack – in retrospect and for many reasons, one of the best decisions I could’ve ever made. I can now attest that almost twenty years later, this gnarly old machete has been a constant field-companion of mine and has seen service on three continents and like the ‘Golden Generation’ that made this incredible example of utility steel many years ago, it shows no signs of failure or giving up. Very much like KoB and President Elect Toxic Deplorable with their trusty ol friends, I am quietly proud to still have this machete in my edged-inventory…
    Cheers to all here.

I, for one, am glad that this shows another criminal who was at the time of his wrongful arrest, obeying all laws in regard to not having a firearm.

This is just another case where a social workers could have handled this incident with greater efficiency and without the excessive use of violence perpetrated against the man.
