Army two-star under investigation for ‘inappropriate touching’

Jeff LPH 3 sends in the word that Major General Stephen Maranian, commanding general of the Army War College, has been suspended while CID investigates allegations of inappropriate touching. Sounds like he’s got a restraining order against him from someone, likely the alleged victim. Army Times reports;
The two-star general in charge of the Army War College is under investigation by CID special agents after an allegation of “inappropriate touching” was made against him, according to the service.
Maj. Gen. Stephen J. Maranian was suspended Feb. 9 from his position leading the graduate-level educational institution for military leaders in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
The allegation against Maranian is “unrelated to his current position,” said Army spokeswoman Cynthia O. Smith. The Army announced Maranian’s suspension earlier this month, but the reason for the adverse action was not disclosed until Thursday.
They reiterate these are only allegations and he’s innocent until proven guilty of course.
Task and Purpose reported Thursday that a protective order was issued in early February against Maranian because of a CID investigation into abusive sexual contact with an Army civilian.
Maranian has an excellent CV.

Innocent or guilty, he’s toast…or rather his career is. We suspected this when the original story of his suspension FIRST (ht 2 Chip) broke.
Having been a victim of false accusations, I will await further proof of any nefarious activities before passing judgement. He said/she said/lied!

Got no problem with that if he’s guilty. If he’s not, that’s damned unfortunate – but it’s been that way for a looooong time. Any derog info (proven or not) in a GO’s file is pretty much a guarantee that he’ll be a NO GO for further advancement.

Seems as if I remember from one of WEB Griffin’s Brotherhood of War Series when one of the characters was GO Select. Might have been The Bear in his book. FIRST thing they taught in “Charm School” for GOs was to remember your manners in all things. Them stars just made you a bigger target.

Sexual “contact” is not defined here, either.
I realize that it is partly because the specifics aren’t brought up in public until it’s all over.

Sexual touching covers a lot of ground some of which
may well be in the eye of the beholder.

Might argue with saying it has nothing to do with his current position. Are they trying to say that the charges come from a civilian with no ties to his command? Would this have occurred if his assignment was in a different part of the country? What are they trying to say without saying it? A domestic thing? Who knows.
So much for being an officer and a gentleman. Maybe.
It is most likely part of the purge of anyone remotely conservative in the military. Is he a conservative, republican, or Trump supporter?

Hack Stone just saw a post on Facebook from a retired Marine Corps Officer he served with on Hack’s last overseas assignment. Said retired officer made a comment on how this man’s behavior is a disgrace to military officers and what he is accused of has no place in the US Military. Pretty ironic coming from a guy who had had first hand observation of his behavior on our numerous TAD journeys together. Something about “He who lives in a glass Quonset Hut throwing stones” comes to mind. Maybe he gets a pass because he was a CWO when he pulled his shit.
