“Salute the Marines” – No salutes given

| January 22, 2021

Well, it appears as if C-SPAN caught the new Commander-in-Chief in another of his characteristic gaffes. The sundowning septuagenarian can be heard saying, “Salute the Marines” as he walks past a Marine sentry with his wife. He didn’t actually, you know, do the thing, with your hand, c’mon man! Some, like the poster of the tweet below think that this was a case of Biden parroting what whomever is speaking to him through an earpiece is telling him. While that seems a fanciful explanation, worthy of its own conspiracy theories, it’s exactly what it looks like.

You can forgive the old lying dog faced pony soldier. It’s been a busy couple of days. In just his first day he kill at least 11,000 American jobs and perhaps as many as 60,000 additional in related industries as the effects of his Day One policies trickle down. He’s also got that hoard of new voters illegal aliens migrants coming to worry about. Clap for that, you stupid bastards!

When he was a candidate, I objected to ridiculing the obvious mental decline of an elder. Part of me wants to continue this high-minded tack. I said then those who deserve our contempt are his handlers, the entirety of the Dem party and the useful idiots in the media who went along with the charade. Part of me feels this way.

Does anyone remember the outcry over Reagan’s mental decline? Does anyone remember the hysteria over the idea of a man with dementia having his finger on the end-of-the-world button?

    Hello? Is this thing on?

    • Graybeard says:

      I remember.

I am (painfully) aware of my obligation before God to pray for out leaders, that we might live in peace. The current administration has me adding a prayer that God break the bow of the wicked, while praying for their conversion.

What is not allowed to me is the option to ridicule our leaders. I admit having a hard time with that more than once in my lifetime.

      • Slow Joe says:

I talk shit about the Democrats all day, so my children don’t have to when they become adults. And to educate them on how stupid and evil the Left is.

Not confronting evildoers now means postponing the fight.

Any form of collectivism leads to economic decline, moral decay and societal collapse.

    • timactual says:

I remember well. I also remember John Tower, who was rejected by his fellow senators when nominated to be Sec. of Defense; heavy drinking might impair his judgement, they said. I don’t remember how Teddy Kennedy, former Dem. Presidential candidate, voted on that.

  2. KoB says:

    Heh heh

Got word last night from another young man I had mentored thruout the last 8 years. He will NOT be re-upping in March, as he had planned to do. E-mail from another Compatriot just a bit bit ago. His son, a longtime member of the 82nd just got his 20 in and will be gone on 3 March.

    We are soooooooo screwed.

Understand that the Military Medical Field will be soon taking applications for Gender Re-assignment Docs. It is anticipated to become the growing field for advancement opportunities.

    • Hack Stone says:

Great, while those “patriotic troops” are waiting for their gender calibration, it is the Regular Joe who will have to pick up the slack while they are in a non-deployable status so that they can undergo their pre-op psychological counseling, hormone treatments, and post surgery recovery. Of course, it would be unfair if they were not considered for promotion during that time frame due to their medical condition. And will they be issued new gender friendly uniforms at government expense, or could they at least pick up the tab for that?

Hack has asked this question multiple times, but seriously, how long is someone undergoing gender reassignment “out of the fight”? Will they need to enlist for an extended period of time like the military requires those who attend technical schools that exceed a year? Just what kind of return on investment can Big Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines expect from this outlay of precious dollars?

      • Only Army Mom says:

Post gender reassignment surgery, there is a life-long reliance on maintenance medications to sustain homeostasis. This was the reason for the disqualification.

        • Mason says:

A condition aggravated by (or somehow tangentially related to) military service equals VA care related to the condition for life.

          • Only Army Mom says:

Mason – very good point. Now, to ponder how transgenderism- as a medical condition – could be triggered or exacerbated by military service…because classifying it as a mental illness or disorder despite what the DSM-5 says is homophobic, transphobic and discriminatory.

Diabetes can be triggered by diet, particularly the high-calorie diet and inconsistent feeding schedule of some troops in those with a genetic vulnerability. Same with lots of medical conditions that can be attributed to chemicals, vaccines or various toxic exposures.

Of course, given that most who seek gender reassignment don’t do so until they are in their twenties or later, I’m sure a causative action related to the military service will be found. You know, so the military and VA will pay for it.

        • Anonymous says:

But anyone with diabetes, type 1 or 2, is disqualified or chaptered for lesser medical maintenance requirements. Gosh, why is that?

      • USMC Steve says:

Forever. They can never deploy due to having to have continual psych evals, and take a boatload of meds to fool their bodies into thinking they are what they are not. If the military had any stones at all they would simply refuse, and discharge for cause any of the gender benders. If the given deviant admitted to having been that way at time of enlistment and didn’t reveal it at that time, a prosecution for fraudulent enlistment should ensue. The Psychiatric Handbook specifically identifies “gender dysphoria” as a specific mental illness, and no one can force the military to enlist or allow retention on someone who is nuts.

    • timactual says:

Not to worry. We can just raise the pay and give more enlistment bonuses. We have plenty of potential volunteers crossing the border every day.

    *sad trombone noises*

I blame all you asshats who stuck with Trump. You could have nominated anyone else, but nooo you had to choose him.

    • Hack Stone says:

Much how the Democrat Party and Mainstream Media conspired to coronate Hillary Clinton as Queen of America. They trashed every viable Republican candidate to include listing how many speeding tickets that one candidate and his wife racked up, so Donald Trump ws left last man standing. Surely, America would not vote for a reality television star with no political experience over Hillary Clinton. They failed to realize that more Americans found Hillary Clinton the one to vote against. So, if you have a problem with the last four years when Donald Trump was President, blame the Democrats for fielding Hillary Clinton.

      • justplainjason says:

Four years ago was the Democrats fault. The Republicans could have gotten Trump under control years ago, but they sold their soul and hitched their wagon to that monster.

        • 11B-Mailclerk says:

We had enough of the slow proggie versus fast proggie non-choice. Trump -nicely- demonstrated we could have non-proggie. That RINOS counsel us to accept defeat and slow proggie go-along is of no consequence.

You never-Trumpers give us the Bushes, when you don’t give us Bidens or worse. Trump did a long list of stuff that the RINOs promised and utterly failed to deliver.

Much as the RINOs did their best to sabotage Reagan, they again chose Donks over their own voters.

Things don’t go back to that, you know. The RINO-Donk alliance is now obvious, and we ain’t buying it anymore.

Go sell that crap to someone who cares. Y’all sold us out to the Donks, you are Donks.

          • justplainjason says:

I feel like every time I see you write its like I am reading a 13 year old from 4chan.

Hack Stone had it right. The only reason Trump became President was the arrogance of the Democrat party.

The Republican Party’s days are numbered because they tied their future to Trump.

Government doesn’t have to be an adversarial relationship.

            • 11B-Mailclerk says:

A whole bunch of folks are tired of the Donk lies, and the RINO lies.

If the RINOs had supported Trump, he would have won. It was the RINOs who decided they liked the Donk better.

              That makes them Donks.

You wanted Trump to lose, you now own the mess that will be made by the side you chose. We had a real choice this time, as we did in 2016. You folks made your preference clear. Own it.

              • justplainjason says:

Okay, Ill own it, but don’t expect me to fly a flag with the president’s name on it, because that is just stupid as fuck.

                • SgtM says:

Yeah, the HOPE posters, shirts, pins etc and all the crap being sold with odumba on it wasn’t. They were even making little kids sing songs of praise to him. And they say Trump has a cult.

                  • justplainjason says:

I thought it was stupid then. My kindergarten teacher used to say I don’t care who started it… Maybe I’ll dust off my Ross Perot gear if it will make any of you feel better.

              • Anonymous says:

RINOs do it for the Democrat reach-around.

            • Only Army Mom says:

JPJ – it may be accurate to say Trump became President because of the arrogance of the Dems. It is equally accurate to say Trump became the nominee because the Republican party was out of touch with it’s base.

The Republican party remains just as out of touch with it’s base, so in that sense, you may be correct the Party’s days are numbered.

              • timactual says:

“the Republican party was out of touch with it’s base.”

Amen. Nicely said. I am not that nice, though. The Republican party has lied to and betrayed its supporters for decades. That is why all 16(?) primary opponents of Trump, a good sample of Republican “leaders”, lost to a political nobody and well-known buffoon. That primary was the first election I didn’t vote in in over half a century. I planned on missing the general election, too, but Hillary made that impossible.

“The Republican Party’s days are numbered because they tied their future to Trump.”

No, the Republican party’s days are numbered because they tied their future to JEB! et al. and refused to actually honor the promises they made to their voters.

“Government doesn’t have to be an adversarial relationship.”

What planet are you from? Human beings do not agree on much of anything. Elections are not just popularity contests.

            • USMC Steve says:

You need to tell that to the party of treason and sedition, the Social Democrats, asshat. They are the ones who invented adversarial politics back when serial rapist Bill and mass murdering Hill got into the white house. The republicans had nothing to do with Trump getting elected. It had everything to do with electing a non politician who despite the sedition of the left, and the obstruction of the establishment republicans, got a lot of stuff done that benefitted AMERICANS, not foreign governments or politicians on the take, etc. People voted for him, not a republican.

The Senile Socialist has his head so far up Red China’s ass, that he shits fortune cookies.

        • 11B-Mailclerk says:

Just one more RINO trying to sell us on going back to voting proggie.

They can’t stand working folks any more than the Donks, and expect us to mind their commands.

          Fuck that.

For the record, the apologists on twitter are claiming the following:

    1. He said “Good Looking Marines”
    2. He was not President yet, so he was not saluted, therefore no salute to be given.

Was quite a back and forth battle reading the comments.

Me, I like the EO mandating masks on any Federal property. Gonna be a lot of park rangers, fire watches, etc. thrilled by that. Some of them may not SEE another human being all day.

      • USMC Steve says:

A lot of us already said fuck that and fuck Biden. No one is getting fired for refusing to wear a mask, not with the firing process taking as much as it does in Civil Service.

Somehow just as annoying in print.

  6. Prior Service says:

I’ve served under every president from Reagan on. I’ve abided by article 88 (contemptuous speech) against them all but it’s suddenly getting very hard to do. And this is the one that will finally be on my retirement certificate.

    • SFC D says:

My service started under Reagan too, but, sadly, Obama signed my certificate.

      • cobrakai99 says:

Yeah, Obama “signed” mine too. I showed up to MPF to finish up and the TSgt looks through my certificates and noticed the Presidential was missing. She went back to a cabinet pulled out a paper stuck it on the printer, went back to the computer, typed some stuff hit print and presto certificate signed by the CINC. Funny thing about that. I was told I needed at least three weeks notice to ensure the President’s certificate arrived on time.

    • Claw says:

They must have changed over to a generic all services retirement certificate if the Presidents signature appears on it.

My certificate (from 1991) had the Army Chief of Staff signature block.

Oh, Well, the more things change, the more they stay the same./smile

  7. Tallywhagger says:

O’Biden respects nothing, his entire being is as selfish and reactive as a spineless sea creature.

He loves to spew-off about push-ups, or jogging, wants to “meet Trump behind the gym” or blows off about his IQ and other amorphous impetuosity.

Biden makes Ray Ban Aviators look stupid, like something Tom Cruise or Brian Williams pose with.

As to saluting? We are all trained to salute the rank. You don’t expect to see E-2s saluting PFCs.

I suppose that everyone has a story to tell about mishaps of military courtesy. Or, it is entirely possible that I am a natural born fuckup. There was an occasion at Ft. Carson wherein I FAILED to salute some guy who looked he just got off a recruit training bus.

The guy was a Major and was about 30 or 32 years old but looked like he was 17. Jeeezus H! You’d have thought I had blasphemed against the Lord! He was so pissed off that he contacted the company commander and wanted an Article 15.

Haha… so I ended up getting extra duty because I told the boy-Major why I had not saluted him… because he didn’t look like an officer.

The extra duty was to mow some grass that really needed to be mowed. I swear to goodness, I never saw the spike in the ground that may have been anchoring a guy-line for a telephone pole.

So, the crankshaft on the mower broke, I failed extra duty and major Major never knew the difference.

I appreciate that the Marine’s did not salute Biden, he is not a legitimate POTUS, let alone Commander of Anything.

  8. Buckeye Jim says:

Seems to me that no salute was given by the Marines in the video because they were holding the doors. I did hear an “order arms” which might mean that there were other Marines inside the doors.

Of course, none of this makes Biden look like anything other than a feeble old man.

  9. OWB says:

With everything going on THIS is a thing? Well, OK.

Slow news day? Maybe this is just a bit of comic relief from the rest of the stuff.
