Police: Springfield man acted in self-defense in Dayton deadly stabbing

By Kristen Spicker, Jen Balduf
A Trotwood man died of stab injuries suffered following an argument on Christmas Eve; however, no one will face any charges, police said.

Dayton police were called just after 7 p.m. to the 400 block of Briarwood Avenue on a report of a stabbing.

“The investigation revealed this incident was preceded by an altercation between the deceased and an acquaintance,” Dayton police Lt. Jason Hall said.

11 Cases of Defensive Gun Use as 2020 Came to a Close

Amy Swearer
he world has said “good riddance” to 2020 and ushered in a new year. Although 2020 was a year in which many people faced extraordinary challenges, it did come with a silver lining for advocates of a strong Second Amendment right—unprecedented growth in the number of Americans who embrace their right to keep and bear arms.

According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, Americans bought an estimated 21 million firearms in 2020, with 8.4 million Americans buying a gun for the first time last year.

Additionally, the number of Americans with concealed carry permits continued to grow, albeit at a slower rate than in past years. This likely was due to record-long delays in permit processing and shutdowns because of COVID-19.

It is hardly surprising that law-abiding citizens flocked to exercise their Second Amendment rights last year. It was, after all, a year replete with widespread civil unrest and calls to strip resources from police departments already hamstrung by a global pandemic.

Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom. — John F. Kennedy

One has to wonder if the carving going on Christmas Eve between “acquaintances” was over drugs, alcohol, a Baby Mama, or just teh stoopid. Either way, good riddance, if there are no charges against the stabber, that must mean the stabbee had it coming. Behold my field of phuques, it is barren and I have none to give.

With 21 millions of gunz sold in 2020, you can prolly expect a rise in the home defense stories…or not. Either the bad guys are leaning that B&E/home invasion is not a good career choice or the good guys are thinning the herd out somewhat. FGS stories ARE getting harder to find.

From the review on the Remington R51, there weren’t too many of those sold in 2020. Maybe Remington contracted out their quality control and customer service to Walther? Maybe they should contract with Graybeard on how NOT to treat customers.

When I was in the ARNG back in 1975-1977, we had Remington .45 1911’s.

I forgot to add on my above comment that the 1911’s were I think from the Remington Typewriter Co.(Remington Rand) instead of Remington Firearms. But I can’t remember.

Remington Rand.

The original Model 51 is a lovely nice-shooting .380. Just saw one recently for $350… would probably buy it instead of the modern 51 despite the lighter caliber. One thing Remington handguns always had… style. Ain’t a revolver ever made prettier than an 1858 Remington, with close competition from the 1860 Army Colt.
