Father shoots at man who broke into kids’ bedroom, Butts County sheriff says
By Madeline Montgomery
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Butts County Sheriff Gary Long says a man was shot at by a Jackson father after breaking into his children’s bedroom early Monday morning.“I mean, very disturbing,” said Shelley Cook, who lives across the street on Thornberry Trail. “You’re talking about the youngest girl, today is her birthday. She’s ten. The boys are a little older but still, they’re children. They were put in harm’s way. They don’t even feel safe in their own home.”
“He broke out the window, he started crawling through the window, and that’s when the father… the kids ran out of the room and got the father,” said Long. “The father challenged him, he didn’t have a gun at the time, and the suspect jumped out of the window.”
The father, a military veteran, then got his handgun.
“That’s when the suspect had busted the bay window on the front of the house, and actually was about three quarters of the way into the house, and making threats that he was going to kill him,” said Long.
That’s when the father pulled the trigger and the man, identified as Abdil Aquil, fell out the window.
“The father of that home, the husband of that home, is the hero. Without the actions that he took, I really believe, 28 years of doing this job, I believe we would’ve had a homicide,” said Long.
Aquil wasn’t hit, and Long says it took three deputies and a Taser to get him in custody.
“They got here really quick, which is a good thing,” said Cook.
Aquil is charged with burglary, home invasion, terroristic threats, three counts of cruelty to children in the 1st degree, criminal damage to property in the 2nd degree, and obstruction of law enforcement.

Mr. Aquil dodged a bullet but not a taser. Dad should schedule a range day, but BZ for stopping the threat. Thanks, Gun Bunny.

I think dad did pretty good, considering it was probably oh-dark-too-damn-early, he’d just been awakened from a sound sleep, and he had three rug rats milling around and screaming.
Sooooo…..next range day, bring a lot of noise makers to provide distraction while shooting.
And, yep, I went to the link to satisfy a curiosity, which of two varieties was the perp? Turns out he’s one of the more melanin enriched variety.
(What was the other variety under consideration? Look at the name)
The “warning shot” that made Marcel a DRT “warned” his cohort that he had pressing business elsewhere.
Papa Bear defending his cubs. Mr. Aquil will be escorted to his new home right down the road from there to the Georgia Department of Corrections, Jackson Diagnostic Center (read prison) where he will be well fed and housed. Jackson used to be a real nice sleepy, friendly town but the trash from the ATL is moving in. A goodly number of the residents work at the JDC and/or the assorted LEO Training facilities located very close by. It is NOT a place to FA…you WILL FO.
Happiness….INDEED! I think I just saw (see what I did there) what I need to place in the Over Watch Position to help shore up The North Wall. Be still my beating heart.
Speaking of happiness…It may bring some happiness to the Haters of all things Gun Bunny that the KoB may and/or may not be in the competition for the TAH Friday WOT. Escort duty and preps for an upcoming secret squirrel mission is occupying his time. Good luck in knocking The Stoned Hacker out of contention and even more Good Luck is wished upon any that do take over the Throne of FIRST when they have to clean up the mess he left.
For the money, weight, and slow cyclic rate involved, you could probably pick up several SFARs. Just me…given a choice between .223 and .30 caliber, I will pretty much always go for the bigger number.
Apparently Blue Origin flew a suborbital passenger flight, and some of the passengers are angry not to be called “astronauts”.
Nope.
“Cargonauts”, maybe. Otherwise they have to go back and give Astronaut wings to Ham the Space Monkey.
Stay tuned- Boomer’s is coming.
Dad needs a shotgun and range time.
