Whale Tail Saves Train
This would look strange if it wasn’t 2020. The driver of a metro train escaped injury when the train’s front car rammed through the barrier at the end of an elevated section of rails, and was caught by a sculpture of a whale’s tail near Rotterdam.
Skippy sends.
Whale sculpture catches crashed Dutch metro train
A train driver in the Netherlands has had a lucky escape thanks to a fortuitously placed art installation.
A metro train in Spijkenisse, near the city of Rotterdam, crashed through a barrier at the end of the tracks shortly before midnight on Sunday.
But rather than plummeting 10m (32ft) into the water below, the train was left suspended dramatically in the air.
It ended up being delicately balanced on the large sculpture of a whale’s tail at the De Akkers metro station.
“We are trying to decide how we can bring the train down in a careful and controlled manner,” one official told the Dutch national broadcaster NOS on Monday.
Not exactly what I had in mind when I first heard the story. Read the entire article here: BBC
Thanks Skippy.

KUDOS to whoever built that sculpture, nice heavy-duty handiwork!
WOW: On board the Nautilus: I’ve got a whale of a tale to tell you lads, a whale of a tale that’s true. 20,000 Leagues beneath The Sea.
Yep. That must be one of the most bizarre pics ever. Thought so yesterday when first seeing it. And, it still is today.
Nobody injured. Amazing. Here’s hoping that remains true as they extricate the train from the tail.
The only real man-made whale tail came outta Stuttgart in the 1970s… the turbo Carrera.
I prefer the woman-made one.
Me too😁
Absolutely incredible
What are the odds
2020 is definitely the anything is possible year
When I saw “whale tail” I was thinking of….something else.
Ahem.

“When a repairman (Dan Aykroyd) comes to fix the Loopners’ broken Norge refrigerator, nerdy teenagers Lisa Loopner (Gilda Radner) and Todd DiLaMuca (Bill Murray) see more of him than they want to.”
The real snl was called not ready for prime time players which was great to what it turned into.
Hey,,, I think I know her!
The conductor of the train, had an argument with his wife the night before. He wanted to get a little frisky…she said “No”. After she saw the result of the accident, she said “Thankfully you had a lot of tail today.”
***with apologies to the writers of the original joke***
I’ll let Kirk Douglas as Ned Land take over from here.
