Apparently, WordPress got its undies in a bunch over Western Rifle Shooters Association and unpersonned their blog. They have, therefore, moved to a new venue, and are rebooting. I have not followed this blog, ergo, I am unaware of what pissed off the hoity-toities at WordPress.

And WordPress is afraid of its own shadows, now appearing to act as the Thought Police and the Speech Police. I tend to not respond to spoiled brats, but – well, they do have a right to their own opinions. If they don’t like guns and gun people, they should post a notice about it on their access route. Blindsiding someone while you’re using their weblog to post ads that put money in your pockets is beyond rude.
But that alone really does give me hope for the future. Be bland or be banned. Be hostile to Free Thought or be damned to the Outer Circles where The They/The Thought Police think no one can find you. The They, a/k/a the Thought/Speech Police will only allow you to post what they agree with. Well, it is WP’s property and you’re allowed access to it, so you’d better think their way or be damned to you!!!
If you know of any other blogs or sites that were snookered and unpersonned by the Thought/Speech Police, please let us know. Unless I’m still living in the 17th century, when Bloody Mary Tudor was executing anyone who refused to reconvert from the Church of England to the Church of Rome and the Pope as Head of State, it seems to me that those 1st Amendment bits about Freedom of Speech and Freedom of the Press mean exactly that. It was, after all, her and her half-sister Elizabeth’s father who split with Rome and got a group of scholars to translate the Latin bible into English. Henry had no interest in paying taxes to a black hole in Rome that was gobbling up the wealth of Europe, nor did he like being told what to do and how to do it by a foreign government. “England is for the English!” Henry’s split with Rome was the kick-start of blowing off foreign governments.
Not sure what the quarrel with WordPress was all about, because while the blog owner is obviously annoyed at being dumped by WordPress, the details are missing, possibly because he was blindsided. Rather than speculate, I’ve provided the link to his reboot.
When you have a bunch of spoiled brats who think they know everything and don’t want reality inflicted on them, the urge to fight back in various ways grows more prominent with every passing day, as with the semi-global dictatorship of the Church of Rome in the Dark and Middle Ages.
How many other splits with Rome came into existence during that period? Lots of them.

Well said, Stixx! There is always the hope that any of their offspring will be as willing to rebel against the stupidity of their parents when they grow up and find that the world isn’t what they thought it was.

There are a lot of thin skinned tool bags around these days…far too eager to be offended than to consider what makes this county is Jefferson’s “tumult of liberty”…the loud raucous voice of dissent and disagreement writ large but still considered during civil public debate.
Instead we now seek to make a pablum of mediocrity the meal of the day, each and every day.
It took us about a year to get the blog away from WP. We now have our own server and bandwidth to prevent this from happening to us.
We used to have outages of service because of mischief from all kinds.
WordPress is not a reliable service provider and is extremely overpriced.
We can now host domains for anyone interested on our servers.
Disruptions to service have been all but eliminated now.
When a group of us started our little slice of the blog-o-sphere, we realized that blog hosted on free WordPress had some advantages (cost being one of them at the time.)
We also realized that the TOS gave them too much control over what we could do and say.
We went with a small hosting company. How small? We were literally their third customer.
Their TOS is basically, “don’t do anything illegal. ie no obscene material, no pirated software, no pirated music, etc.”
That was reasonable to us.
We’ve been happy for over 10 years now. People should use free WordPress domains if they don’t know if they are sure they want to blog. (It’s a lot of work.) Use it to test.
Other than that, get off of WordPress.
Fast.

What’s the cost, and can I transfer my published stuff from WP (not their high end version) to your server?

And yes, running a blog (used to be spelled “weblog”) is a lot of work, but it’s worth it if you want practice writing anything at all.
I haven’t had to rattle the donation cup in about forever, too. Although you well know I am completely without shame when it comes to that- just ask and I’ll be on it.

I don’t twit or fakebook, and really don’t visit too many other blog sites. Do check out the offerings on the Sites that Link to this Post on Sundays that ‘Ed offers up. Being a regular, royal PIA on this site keeps me busy enough. Besides, I like the fact that even a S(issy)P(unk)A(sinine)P(iece)O(f)S(h^t) is free to come here and spout its drivel. I “like” to laff at useless idiots.

You da Man Tox, we think it’s 11 but who’s counting. Imma backing off a bit to share the joy of being FIRST on the EARNED never AWARDED TAH Friday Weekend Open Thread FIRST. It coulda been asppos…or posspa; or even posasp. I have really struggled with that whole “no personal attacks” thing in re of his azz, despite the fact that his aggravating self centered egotistical spapos seagulled self keeps showing up with his very vulgar personal attacks. There were a number of variations that I thought about before settling on this one. It just kinda “sings” (HT to Provo and his privy). He may and or may not have or will pick up on it. I think some of the Admin types did. I was so very proud when I saw the Lioness Herself use it in one of her replies. Feel free to use as you see fit. No franchise fee will be charged. In reply to Ex’s comment below, and to add to, I, like many here, a boomer, grew older during the oncoming Centennial of the WBTS. It was not only all in the news but I also had family members who were alive and knew family members that lived thru it all. One of my Grand Mothers, whom I commented about her cooking on a wood burning stove, lived thru a good portion of the reconstruction days. Now THOSE were some hard times. I soaked up every bit I could from all of these resources, and being taught how to read when I was only 4 didn’t hurt. By the time I started FIRST Grade, I was reading on a 7th grade level. Many of the books in my personal library are FIRST Editions, printed well before the sanitizing and deleting of history started. One of the majors that my daughter earned at the oldest state chartered colleges in the Country, UGA, (hbtd) was in history. Well, Gun Bunny, when I was out with my camera this morning at the dunes not to far from my domicile, I tried to imagine what it would be like to have one of those uninformed adult children along for the ride. I did this because they “love” nature and want everything to be “green” (whatever that means), but I do believe that they would find themselves utterly terrified by the vast open spaces of those grassy dunes and the endless “swooosh!” of waves from the Great Lakes.
It’s a shame that they aren’t taught real history in school, because they need to know the reality of what happened, not the so-called injustices.
Tribal Africans who were exported from Africa to America in the 17th century were taken prisoner by Arabs or other by black African tribes and sold into slavery at specified locations. This is not something new, and while I have no specifics, it likely goes further back than the days of the Pharaohs. The Tuaregs (Arab tribe, Northern Africa) were notorious for that kind of thing.
It’s long past time that THOSE real lessons were taught.

OK, cool, now I know. I just thought that when they started showing up, on the Sunday FGS that it was part of the post. Never really thought of it as an added comment from an outside source. I get real deep into those, going down the entire list til I get to the Classic Babe of the Week. Kept me busy and out of trouble on those rainy or hot Sundays.
I read every post and comment on this site and am not scared to click on every linky. I even go back thru, FIRST thing of a morning upon awakening and read any of the comments that were posted during the 0God30 time frame.

Diqsuq… they have “moderators” but no websites of their own. Love to threaten conservative websites using their comment engine– ban folk with penetrating commentary (ranting “skull-f*ck Jane Fonda because she’s an Area 51 space alien” types who make conservatives look bad are cool though) or lose your comment capability, which is the website’s “own choice” of course. (If you know a conservative website suddenly missing it’s comment engine, they said “Bite me!” anyway.)
