Seattle’s CHAZ

| June 10, 2020

Seattle’s Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, You are Now Leaving The USA.

“Well, Mayor, what have we got in the CHAZ, a republic or a monarchy?” With no hesitation whatsoever, Mayor Jenny Durkan responded, “An anarchy, if you can keep it.”

This study in irony is provided by Poetrooper.

Seattle’s Autonomous Anarchist Zone Learns a Hilarious Lesson About Theft

Have you heard that a six-block section of Seattle has become an anarchist “capitol hill autonomous zone,” or “CHAZ” for short?

It has. Police and firefighters vacated their premises and bugged out with a Twitter blessing from Mayor Jenny Durkan. Durkan dithered over the descent of protests into violence for a week before doing much, and when she did much, her choice was to tweet in hasty retreat.

Anarchists quickly set up CHAZ to be and do its own thing, as long as that thing conformed with diktats of the CHAZ hierarchy.

They put up makeshift signs saying, “You are now leaving the U.S.A.” They appropriated stolen barricades from America, which they despise. To paraphrase a former president, CHAZ did not build that. Or anything else.

The CHAZ collective thanked the mayor for her gift of a six-block area of America the mayor does not personally own (and which includes about 500 homes of actual Americans) by storming city hall and demanding that she resign unless she disbands the police.

Demonstrators remained peaceful, without reports of violence or injuries, but are pushing Mayor Jenny Durkan to step down if she refuses to defund the city’s police department.

The protesters continued to camp out in a self-declared “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” (CHAZ)– a region spanning six blocks and encompassing the precinct– which has effectively been abandoned by law enforcement after the Seattle Police Department closed the East Precinct on Monday.

An eagle-eyed tweeter spotted an urgent problem developing in the secessionist CHAZ collective: The homeless stole all their food.

Call the police!

Right — CHAZ wants to disband the police. The police are over in America anyway, and American police have no obligation to help secessionist CHAZ.

CHAZ has no farms or orchards. CHAZ is paved over with streets and buildings. CHAZ cannot feed itself.

In addition to being dependent on America, which it despises, CHAZ is a hypocritical anarchist collective. It wants to enforce its borders.

Heh. Read the rest of the article here: PJ Media

This is the 2020 version of Occupy Wall Street. Remember how well that worked? Assaults, theft, overdoses, rape, hell, what’s not to love about it?

And it’s also a prime example of what’s going to happen in all those locations where the cops are disbanded and defunded. And please don’t hand me the crap about Camden and their “decline” until you look at the crime stats there.

    • penguinman000 says:

Camden has it’s issues but they have managed some success. The stark difference is Camden’s starting point was “how do we make the PD better serve the citizenry?”

Minneapolis and Seattle appear to have the starting point of a “police free future.”

    • MSG Eric says:

Camden basically just reorganized their police from city police to county police and DOUBLED the number of law enforcement in the area.

Gee, disbanding the police equals twice the amount of law enforcement and it worked! Wow, good thinking there…

    • Robert Duckworth says:

Damn you idiot libtards in Seattle have to be the stupidest people on the planet. Keep smoking that pot dumbasses

One person’s anarchy is another person’s libertarianism.

    • SFC D says:

      Headed for Seattle, are we?

      Libertarianism equals anarchy? Interesting concept.

      • Commissar says:

You apparently do not know the history of either. Nor apparently know what either argues ideologically.

        They are literally historical synonyms.

The differences are fairly minor and has more to do with how the individual perceives themselves and other members of society rather than any practical differences in political outcomes when trying to implement the ideologies in society.

        • Ret_25X says:

nope, they are not. Libertarians generally do not believe in anarchy except in the extent of anarch-capitalism.

No leftist can be a libertarian. It is impossible to be both pro liberty and pro powerful confiscation and redistribution.

They are not anarchists, they are syndacalists.

Perhaps some reading is in order for your meager mind.

The police left them laying around, after they abandoned their positions defending their station. The protesters set them up keeping traffic out of a 6-block area. It’s now essentially a street festival. The “borders” are open, the trolls who say that there are armed men checking ID and taking money at checkpoints are 100% lying.

            • Eddie says:

A street festival established within a district of property it doesn’t own, and was seized from it’s rightful and lawful owners. A street festival that cannot feed clothe, house or provide for itself except by leeching off of what is already there. A street festival that has vandalized the entire area with stupid graffiti and banners that someone is going to have to remove or paint over when these neo-Hippie, free-love day-trippers get bored, don’t have food and decide to go back to their Mom’s basement. This is the same stupid shit they tried in the 60’s. It didn’t work then, and it won’t work now because the people in control of Chaz are just a bunch of selfish, spoiled brats. The National Guard needs to go in, remove them by force and give the blocks back to the people that live and work there.

          • Steve W. says:

Doesn’t really matter, They’re supposed to be AGAINST WALLS. My suggestion is a completely peaceful one … Put up an high, impenetrable wall around the area, turn off electricity, water, sewage and food deliveries … and wait until they surrender. They should’ve done this in Waco. Democrats can NEVER figure out how to solve the problems that THEY themselves create. Nice ideas(sometimes), mind you, but ALWAYS poorly implemented.

    • FuzeVT says:

Libertarianism – You should be allowed to do those things that do not effect others.

Taking over 6 city blocks and kicking the police out seems like it effects all the people in that area. For all those who are had no say in this who are stolen from, robbed or hurt prior to the Lord of Flies experiment collapsing, are certainly having their lives upended.

This is not the same as wanting people to have personal freedoms.

      • Commissar says:

And that tag line is used by anarchists as well…

And it actually applies to neither in practice.

Hint: the word “allowed” is where both ideologies fall apart.

        • FuzeVT says:

Small ‘l’ libertarianism is a governing philosophy. The philosophy, in its essence is what I said. How it differs in practice is what happens when you have more than two people trying to govern something. No one gets to govern exactly the way their philosophy would have them because they have to share power with others.

Now as to your assertion that they both use the same tag line. That’s like saying Vegans and that guy with the funny mustache had the same tagline – “I’m a vegetarian”. Nothing in libertarianism says there should be no government. That is pretty much the definition of an anarchist.

So to clean your statement up a bit:

►Anarchist tag line – there should be no ruling body over us

          ►Libertarian/ Conservative tagline –
“The legitimate object of government is to do for a community of people whatever they need to have done, but can not do at all, or can not so well do, for themselves – in their separate, and individual capacities.”

          ― Abraham Lincoln

        • Ret_25X says:

          Nonsense, you are wrong…as always.

          Libertarians refer to the NIP.

          Syndicalists refer to Marx.

Libertarians believe that order must exist.

Syndicalists believe in the dictatorship of the proles…although the proles always seem to be city dwelling welfare recipients….weird how that works.

Funny how those who demand everything be given to them by force contribute so little to the society.

        • Thunderstixx says:

          As usual larsie-boi….
Fuck off, nobody gives a fuck what you think anyway, we just keep you around cause it’s fun to insult you and watch you get your seagull feathers all wadded up in your panties !!!

    • Poetrooper says:

So we now have another “ism” which Lars fails to know the meaning of: Libertarianism.

      Add it to the list:

Does anyone know if the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders has a category for persons with problems of “ism” delirium?

If not, they should create one and call it Larcissism…

      • HMCS(FMF) ret says:

There’s no way that Larsie is a libertarian… he went BALLS DEEP FOR BERNIE last time.

Though I should have added this: The Warriors is a 1979 movie, set as always in a dystopian future. Rival gangs with chains and pipes battle for territory in the streets of NYC. Just google “Warriors come out to play” and you’ll get the idea.

I try to be too brief – and obscure – with my thoughts.

            • Combat Historian says:

Michael Beck rocked as the main character in The Warriors. He then starred as Sonny Malone in Xanadu, which basically ended his career as a leading man, which was too bad…

If you want to conquer them, wait ’til they run out of food and then start cooking about 100 yards from their border, and make sure the wind is blowing toward them. If they want any of it, they’ll have to drop their “weapons” and pay for it and agree to let Seattle have its AO back.

  7. Green Thumb says:

    Escape from New York, baby!

If Mayor McBith gets taken hostage, then we will need to call Snake Plissken (or his grandson) to take the mission. To bad AJ Dickens’ fat ass kicked the bucket. He would be perfect. Or maybe Stephen Cio “Ranger” Burrell? The Fourth Most Dangerous Man in the World wold jump at the opportunity.

Or, maybe we should holler down to All-Points Logistics in Merritt Island, FL and see who the False Commander “Phony” Phil Monkress (CEO of All-Points Logistics) would recommend for the mission. I imagine he has one hell of a team in place!

    Escape from Seattle.

    I love it!

  8. Hack Stone says:

Great, they are congregated in one area. Start stringing the concertina wire and let them survive off of the natural resources of CHAZ. Give it less than a week until there is rampant eruption of various diseases, but don’t worry, Hack is confident that they have necessary medical personnel and medications to treat any third world diseases.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

Add a low-level current to the concertina wire before you vacate the AO. Not enough to hurt anything important, like a pooch or stray cat looking for a home, but make it enough to make the idjits sit up and take notice.

      • rgr769 says:

The hot wire I had set up around my pasture would do that job quite nicely.

        • SFC D says:

It can even be done via solar power, to appease the “greenies”.

          • rgr769 says:

Yup, mine was solar powered. It kept a battery charged. It was great at keeping my horses from cribbing my fencing. So it should work on black clad proglodytes.

  9. STSC(SW/SS) says:

Trump should call the Governor and the Mayor and let them know they need to take care of this. Meanwhile make Seattle off limits to all military personnel and their dependents. Choke off all business and watch them scream bloody murder.

    • Thunderstixx says:

      He did that this morning.
He will send in the troops, there is no doubt in my mind about that !!!
Barr will charge them with federal terrorism charges and they won’t see the light of day until their bungholes are the size of a Peterbilt….

    • Combat Historian says:

This is Mayor Jenny and the Seattle commie council we’re talking about. These bunch of elected marxists will probably provide indefinite free food, water, and sanitation to these terrorists and charge it all to Uncle Sam and the American taxpayer…

    • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

In the mean time businesses are going to start fleeing the cities that support this kind of silliness. Have fun with the unemployment.

  14. Commissar says:

Despite the nonsense rhetoric, this is what happened….

And it has been working well as a way of keeping the peace so far…

Far from “anarchy”. More like what you all like to call “libertarianism”.

“Police” was not a noun until the middle of the 19th century.

    • Green Thumb says:

Six blocks of peace? Its a start, I guess.

And the homeless rolled them for chow. Tight ship they run.

I guess its a new Green Zone of you count the weeds growing through the cracks.

Curious as what the Tribes think as Seattle is paying “rent” to them?

My best guess is the Tribes would tell them to “Pound Sand”.

As to your last comment, I would disagree. Seems to me it was around way back in the 1700’s in Europe.

      • Commissar says:

England established police as a noun in 1829. A decade before the first police in America.

        • Green Thumb says:

          Re-read your history books.

Constable, Sheriff, Bailiff, Magistrate, Patrolman etc., were all common terms by then.

        • Green Thumb says:

As to the “noun”, maybe you are right.

But is that the point? Semantics?

    • HMCS(FMF) ret says:

  15. The Other Whitey says:

They call themselves an “autonomous zone,” and are said to be outside the jurisdiction of the city of Seattle, including its police and fire departments. Well, if that’s the case, then they better stay the fuck in their little “zone.” Why are they protesting (and likely rioting) at Seattle City Hall if they’re not part of the city? Can’t have your cake and eat it too, as they say.

Never mind the fact that no municipal, county, or state official has the authority to cede American soil to anybody.

    • Commissar says:

Who cares what they call themselves.

      None of this is real.

6 blocks is a tiny space. Cops are still right outside the area and have simply chosen to not place themselves in the center of the protests as a deescalation tactic.

The hysteria and misinformation of the right wing narrative on this is absurd.

      • Ret_25X says:

The hysteria and propaganda of the left wing narrative on this is absurd.

          The boy has problems…

          • Combat Historian says:

The boy hung around way too many leftist “coffee houses” in Monterey when he was stationed at Ord, and allowed the cute blond proggy agitprop “coffee hostesses” working there to rot his brain…

            • David says:

He wasn’t stationed at Ord, he was stationed at the Presidio in Monterey. Major difference.

              • Combat Historian says:

Lars had stated during a previous thread about the current rioting that back in 1992 he was stationed at Ord with the 7th LID when his bde was deployed from Ord to Southern California to back up the CAARNG during the Rodney King riots in LA…

      • The Other Whitey says:

First, Lars, who the fuck asked you? I rather obviously didn’t post in reply to your screed, so piss off.

Second, when are you moving there?

Third, if it was a group of conservatives/libertarians protesting overreach by a bloated, corrupt, and surveillance-addicted nanny state, you’d be making up indicators of white supremacism, saying how stupid they are for rejecting socoal services, and accusing them of wanting to shoot black people. Don’t try denying it.

      • SFC D says:

        It’s not “right wing hysteria”.

“This is the left’s army — lead-brained droogs and scabrous nightwalkers convinced that they’d be on top if only the system wasn’t stacked against them.”

“Newsflash, you developmentally delayed, physically repulsive, low-impulse-control mentally sick losers: You’d be on the bottom of any system.”

“You will always sink to the bottom. You are refuse.”

“Nobody has ever “held you down.” No one would ever have to. No one holds down a stinking, rotting carcass of a road-killed dog — it ain’t going anywhere, you know?”

      • Mason says:

        “De-escalation tactic”

Ever been to Tecate? It’s a shithole. You can see almost the entire city from the border. Yeah, there’s some high-dollar places, and a few more average residences, and lots and lots of shanties in between and all around. There’s trash all over the place, rat’s nests of ghetto wiring overhead, and sewage is simply dumped into the local creeks (trust me, I’ve had to cross them on many border fires).

Compared to that Occutard encampment, Tecate might as well be Emerald City.

        • Thunderstixx says:

Shit, come to Austin and check out the homeless camps. Garbage strewn all over and stink like a city dump on a hot day in Texas.
The rats are moving in there and it won’t be long that some of the great diseases of centuries past begin to propagate and spread through the place like a locust swarm in Africa !!!

      • HMCS(FMF) ret says:

CHAZburger must be tofu patty on gluten free wheat bread (white bread is RRRAYYYYSIST!).

Sanitation, water and food… just like the homeless. Shit in the street, drink from the gutter and raid all of the organic food places until the shelves are bare.

        • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Huh, sounds like San Foo-foo, I can’t quit laughing about how all of the Homeless they invited came and took all of their chow!!!

      • ChipNASA says:

        Send in the Romans.
I mean, what have they ever given us?
        The aqueduct?
Oh. Yeah, yeah. They did give us that. Uh, that’s true. Yeah.
        And the sanitation.
Oh, yeah, the sanitation. Remember what the city used to be like?
Yeah. All right. I’ll grant you the aqueduct and the sanitation are two things that the Romans have done.
        And the roads.
Well, yeah. Obviously the roads. I mean, the roads go without saying, don’t they? But apart from the sanitation, the aqueduct, and the roads–
Yeah, yeah. All right. Fair enough…
        And the wine.
        Oh, yes. Yeah…
        Public baths…
And it’s safe to walk in the streets at night now, Reg…
Yeah, they certainly know how to keep order. Let’s face it. They’re the only ones who could in a place like this.
All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

So, there’s that…..let’s call the Romans.

        • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Yeah, but all of that requires *GASP!* work and we ALL know just how allergic those soy-swilling moonbats are allergic to it!

    • jarhead says:

In addition to Mac and Chaz, for desert we have New York style CHAZCAKE.

    • ChipNASA says:

OK Goddamn it, that’s just too funny. I Can Haz CHAZ Burger..?”

  19. Ret_25X says:

Imagine a group of people so stupid they don’t understand liberty or anarchy?

Imagine a group of people so disgusting they have to use violence to make people “like” them.

Imagine a group of people so ignorant they don’t know where food comes from.

    Good luck with that, morons.

  20. Poetrooper says:

What ol’ Poe finds most ironic about this is that the first thing these “Libertarians” (as Lars calls them) do is to throw up barricades to limit the free-flow of, among other things, commerce and free human movement. That’s supposedly a huge no-no in Libertarianism.

It’s also hilariously ironic that those so opposed to “border fences” immediately erect their own upon taking control of even such a small area. That’s tacit acknowledgment that fences do work in spite of all their protestations that they don’t.

But then expecting consistency of thought and behavior from the kind of folks Lars supports, is truly laughable.

    • Twist says:

It’s nothing more than Lars trying to deflect away from the left wing anarchists and trying to equate them with Libertarians. They don’t believe in what Lars tries to claim that they do.

    • The Other Whitey says:

Lars might try to say that definitions are fluid. I would take a cue from the great poet, philosopher, and humanitarian Jayne Cobb and reply that “The only fluid I’m seein’ here is the puddle o’ piss talkin’ out both sides o’ his gorram mouth!”

  21. NHSparky says:

If Jonn were still around, Lars would get a very hard block on instruction as to exactly what libertarianism was and was not.

Believe me, he and I saw that shit up close and personal when we were both members of another website. His getting the boot from there gave him the inspiration to create this place.

    And the rest is history.

  22. Just Lurkin says:

  23. Blaster says:

Isn’t this the same side that wants to open ALL borders?

  24. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

SO WHAT ABOUT those who own property in this little enclave, I bet they’re really happy about it! They bawl that the homeless have already eaten their chow, so what’s next for them? Will they be able to buy electricity for even one building in there? I’m willing to bet a bottle of Bourbon that it’ll ALL be President Trump’s fault when their shit comes a-tumbling down!

    • Penguinman000 says:

The people who have the racial advantage of owning or renting property must provide for the masses.

There can be no accountability for poor decisions or stupidity. It all boils down to skin color/ethnicity/ or advantage you didn’t earn. No one gets ahead through hard work or intelligence. The only people that get ahead are opportunist who take advantage of those too stupid or lazy to provide for themselves.

The people whose entire life’s effort is being coopted by criminal pieces of shit should be proud to surrender their efforts to the proletariat.

Communism is based on a lie. Socialism is based on a lie. The greatest benefit to humanity has come from the free market, not Marx.

      • Roh-Dog says:

Although, Marx, and from indecency committed by his devotees, did create some humour, however stiff-lipped and pedantic it may be.

        • Penguinman000 says:

Ever noticed how it’s never people who lived under communism or socialism in the real world that promote it?

          • A Proud infidel®™ says:

YES, that and those who espouse it are also those who have never really done anything looking forward to leeching off of those who truly produce or do any real work!

          • Roh-Dog says:

            Every. Damn. Time.

          • The Other Whitey says:

Yeah, those who’ve experienced it tend to be strongly, often violently opposed to repeating the experience. My in-laws, for example.

It’s almost as if socialists falsely advertise their goals and methods!

    • Roh-Dog says:

Imaging the wailing and gnashing of teeth when this stupid little ‘experiment’ fails and they have to be under the Trump administration again.
Which reminds me, have we defunded the federal/state monies to the CHAZ yet?
I suggest a trade embargo too, with sanctions to follow.

    • Thunderstixx says:

      I love it !!!
The people that live their are true believers in the liberal bull shit and have voted for them for decades !!!
So imagine the horror they feel when they can no longer go to their homes and when they do get in there, chances are really good that they are completely trashed !!!
Give them the lessons, good and hard !!!

        • jarhead says:

I beg your pardon. The red ones are easier to digest.

          • 11B-Mailclerk says:

“You eat the blue crayon…the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You eat the red crayon…you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.”

  26. Stacy0311 says:

    But wait, there’s more.

There’s already a “warlord” who’s decided to enforce “his” version of law and order.
Raz Simone, The Duke of CHAZ.

  27. Am not clear on this. Are the PD banned from CHAZ? What about fire protection. Is the Fire Dept not allowed inside and if so and there are house/building fires, are the PD liable for damage and loss of life???

    • Penguinman000 says:

The PD has taken the FD model. We only come out of the house when you call.

Be careful what you wish for. You just may get it.

  28. Mason says:

They made it a day before their self-appointed “police” start violating civil rights and assaulting a non-violent street artist.

    • Cameron says:

It’s been, what, three days already? And the whole concept is already falling apart.

    • rgr769 says:

The leader of the “police” of CHAZ is a Black Rapper named Raz Simone. He is the Duck of CHAZdom and runs a tight ship, he and his armed hoodrats will beat the shit out of anyone who he deems needs a beatdown. So much for their glorious seven square blocks of utopia. Today there was an interview with the clueless governor who disavowed any knowledge about what is going down in the middle of Washington’s largest city.

      • 11B-Mailclerk says:

Sounds like various Donk governors in the sixties.

        • HMCS(FMF) ret says:

Most sane people of the state would run his ass out of office because of this and COVID… but those in the Seattle area would reelec this ass back for a third term because of this.

  29. 11B-Mailclerk says:

    Lord of the Flies

  30. 11B-Mailclerk says:

There are US citizens in there. They have rights. No majority, or mob, can “vote” to take those rights away. Settled law.

The mayor and governor have legal duties to protect the rights of citizens, and may not conspire to deny rights.

    Prosecute them.

They turned US citizens over to mob rule. Give them 24 hours to fix their mess. Then press the federal charges, indictments, perp walks, prosecution.

They conspired to achieve this, to strip unalienable rights, just as prior Donks conspired to mob rule when they didn’t like folks having unalienable rights.

  33. Twist says:

    Have an uprising
    Declare an independent Communist State
    Run out of food
    People starve

    It took two days

That’s got to be a record

    • 11B-Mailclerk says:

The dipshits just shown on TV look like “starve” would take a couple months, minimum.

But yeah, out of food in a day, when most areas have at least three days of it, is bad even by historical Communist standards.

  34. E4 Mafia '83-'87 says:

Just wait until the supplies run low…
There true nature will be exposed when there isn’t enough essentials then the ‘Lord of the Flies’ mentality will kick in…
Those in organized groups with guns will use violence & intimidation to secure resources form themselves, and everybody else be damned…
Most of these clowns expect ‘other people’ to do the work except nobody actually does anything and it all collapses…good.

BTW, did anybody else laugh their ass off when that statue was pulled down on a rioter? Watch the video and see how fast they scream for help…losers, all of them.

  36. Berliner says:

Seattle has been circling the toilet bowl for the last couple years. Drug addled homeless living in tents downtown taking a whiz or a dumps on the sidewalk is common.

It has become a liberal paradise. I imagine Lars would enjoy it.

    • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Major Moonbat aka Lars would still be finding something to perpetually bitch about.

  37. Thomas B. says:

I was in the Occupy Boise movement until I got my belly full of PC diktats and useless prattling about oppression that did not exist. The real oppression was ignored….the oppression of elitist finance and government chokeholds on freedom. It was nothing more than a call for a return of the Baader–Meinhof Group. And that’s what THIS is, in the CHAZ.

This will be the most unproductive of any collective experiments, and that’s saying alot because most of these things are pretty bad. It WILL produce hunger, Soviet oppression, ironic special interests, new flavors of “oppressed classes” and endless bickering during assemblies as the Cancel sword is wielded vs those who dare suggest ANY alternative to the most influential “non-leaders'” concepts.

Residents will be required to adopt all new gender pronoun speak and all the other PC liturgy you can think of. All grass lawns will be outlawed because they need to grow food, pronto. All personal possessions will be catalogued and socialized into the new CHAZ inventory of collective wealth, to be redistributed according to the new “equality” standards.

Those who have skills will do all the work while those without skills will make decisions and smoke dope. It will be Jamestown in 1620 all over again. Can’t wait for the first few long time residents get their “privileges” checked at the assembly by the stacker who will call speakers according to the oppression hierarchy. That’ll be fun.

    Get the popcorn.
