The 75-Year-Old Pushed to Ground May be Provocateur

| June 9, 2020

Martin Gugino participating in a 2019 demonstration. (WIVB 4)

I posted a link, in last week’s WOT, of police pushing a man and causing him to fall. He hit the ground and blood flowed from his head. Based on initial information, it appeared that the police were being too aggressive. However, additional information came out regarding the guy, 75-Year-Old Martin Gugino. Even in the video, the police were telling him to move, but he kept at his course of action.

It turns out that Martin Gugino may be a seasoned protester. He may also be a provocateur, which explains police action in the video.  They knew about his history. Hence, those on the emergency response team quitting the team in protest of action taken against the pushers. Even President Trump weighed in.

From WIVB 4:

Gugino was severely injured by Buffalo police when they shoved him during a protest. In a video, Gugino was seen bleeding from the head after being knocked to the ground outside City Hall.

Attorney Kelly Zarcone says Gugino is “still hospitalized and his condition remains largely unchanged. He is in serious but stable condition.” According to Zarcone, Gugino’s “brain needs time to rest and recover.”

She went on to say “Martin has acknowledged and sincerely appreciates the tremendous outpouring of support he has received nationwide.”

On Tuesday morning, President Donald Trump gave his opinion on the matter, alleging that Gugino “could be an ANTIFA provocateur” and stating “Could be a set up?”

WIVB 4 has the story and the link to the video showing the man being pushed to the ground.

It wouldn’t surprise me if this Red Queen had a signed copy of Rules for Radicals.
But seriously, don’t make martyrs out of these people.
They don’t need the help.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Indeed it’s almost inconceivable that the police aren’t aware they will be recorded all the time 24/7 for the next few weeks at a minimum…

Anything that could be perceived as being inappropriate is going to create a problem for the officers involved, and might create federal problems depending on how much a federal prosecutor wants to make a name by prosecuting a cop for a civil rights complaint.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

I didn’t think he fell harder than he was pushed it looked to me like an old man lost his balance after being given a shove by a guy in riot gear.

The officer will get his day in court to prove he followed his training. Juries in America give the police great latitude so I suspect he’ll be okay and his union will have him back on the job shortly afterwards.

It was interesting to note the entire emergency response team’s resignation after the suspension of these two in Buffalo.

I am curious to see if this dies down in a week or two or actually results in a few communities reconsidering how they interact with their police departments.

E-4 Mafia 4 Life

I wouldn’t call it a shove or push. Semantics but it looked like a bump.
a police officer 2x the weight of the 77 year old beta male moving forward. The beta male playing a game of chicken and lost.
It appears he lost his balance and hit his head like a wet fish.
The injury is real. Blood pouring from his ears and traumatic posturing. I just think he was either willing to take one for the team or could not stop the fall.
As far as the 2 officers, I can’t see them returning to work unless there is a deep dark basement they can store them in.
Look at former police officer Darren Wilson who had a righteous shoot and was acquitted.
He gets thrown under the bus and has to live like Casey Anthony. Not only is his career in law enforcement over but many companies will not want to employ him because of bad PR.
I would say these officers should be acquitted but I think they are screwed.
I graduated the police academy in 1994. I’m glad I couldn’t find a job (bad timing and no one was looking for a white male) and went on to become an IT engineer.
’94 seemed to be the time when Political Correctness launched and everything has went down hill since then.

Didn’t seem like the officer’s intent was to push him to fall over. Just to push him to get out of the way.

The Dead Man

There are a few videos doing a breakdown in slow motion. He didn’t have that mask on before he went up to the police. He acted fishy and got his hand dangerously close to the officer’s gun belt and got pushed (Not shoved) out of the way.

The actual impact is off camera and when it focuses on him after, he’s bleeding from his ears significantly, but his head is off the ground and there’s no blood at the point of impact while also keeping his legs crossed. There’s also a distinct lack of blood from his head that you’d expect from an impact hard enough to cause a significant TBI.

David

Didn’t have the mask on? I respectfully disagree, the mask is very plain.

OWB

Depends upon which part of which vid you watch. The mask was off, then on, then who knows how many times off and on.

Beat me to it, as usual thebsig. Poetrooper sent me this:

Did an aged activist set up the Buffalo police?

I got distracted and it got buried in my in-box. Good to see it brought out to the light of day.

jarhead

Would really like to see more of this old dude’s history, including military background. Anybody who keeps moving in the direction of a wall of advancing cops during such turmoil needs glasses and better judgment. His smile says he is enjoying being part of a protest; even more so than a game of shuffleboard. Kind of wonder if maybe he gets a free lap dance for every protest he takes part in. You know those useful idiots are always ready for some freebies. BTW, take a close look at that picture. Is it my imagination or is he spanking his monkey with his left hand? There’s a reason for that goofy looking smile.

5th/77th FA

Imma wid you jarhead. This is real curious. Professional protester? Cheering Nikita while he was pounding a shoe? Former stank azz hippy? Provoking the popo? Got more than he bargained for?

Either way, it’ll be Trumps fault and the taxpayers will be responsible for the medical bill, the lawsuit payoff, and the hiring/training of replacement officers.

lmn0351

5th….go with the stank ass hippy….if you google his name you will see this isnt his first rodeo

Friend

Probably one of the hippy shits who spit on our soldiers coming home..hopefully he got a beatdown back then…

E-4 Mafia 4 Life

He may have been in the military and is 90% disabled from the neck up.
The only lap dance he’s getting is from Chad and Maurice from the local bath house, entrance in the rear.

“Climate Justice”

I just can’t tell if these people are serious or do they just say dumb shit to see if people will react.

I want “Firearms Justice”. M-14s are really expensive and since I don’t have one, I think I should be able to take money from rich liberals in order to buy one.

E-4 Mafia 4 Life

I have a Springfield M1A Loaded. And I paid for it with my own monies.
Bernie didn’t help.
Haven’t tried to test it at 1000 meters yet. That’s my goal.

Roh-Dog

M1A Loaded is a great rifle. I’ve DMRed it like the M14 I carried in Iraq but went stupid: Nightforce 4-14x SHV F1, Sadlak mount and bipod attachment point, YHM muzzle break (for when the ATF gives me my permission slip/stamp), Schuster Adjustable piston cap, voodoo cheek riser, Remington MSR/M2010 case…
It’s a pricey rig if you go that route…

E-4 Mafia 4 Life

I was saving up for the Nightforce when I learned about Vortex Optics. so I bought the Vortex Viper PST 5-25 x 50. Vortex gave me 33% off for military discount.
Send them proof and you can have up to 3 discounted items a year.
I installed the Troy Battle Rail on the Springfield composite stock. That gave me full side and top 1913 rails.
Back when I got it, I wanted to put it on a JP Enterprises stock but the lead time was about 2 years and something like $1400.
Archangel made a knock-off but it didn’t fit well.
Now Springfield sells the M1A with an Archangel option.
Maybe they bought the patent from JP and Archangel. I don’t recall if JP sued ProMag.
JP no longer sells there M1A stock.

Roh-Dog

Nice. How she run?
168 gr Sierra Fed GMM is giving me about .6MOA and the cheaper red box ‘for M1A’ stuff about .8
Mine HATES 175 gr anything, about 1.1 with any of them, beats the hell out of the brass but no popped primers so most likely not a pressure issue…?
Who knows, the M1A/M14 is like the cat of rifles, no logic, most of the time moody and your friends don’t wanna hear the ‘one time my [m1A]’ stories.

Sapper3307

In Vermont this week we had a LiL protester girl do full out French soccer flop down three steps, after being thrown (touched) by LEO. Same drama no blood.

Whether or not the Gugino is a slime (and he appears to be) is not the issue to me.

It is clear from the video that he initiated the incident, was not following the police orders as they were clearing the streets for the curfew, etc.

We can argue whether the push by the two officers was a light touch, excessive or whatever.

We can talk about whether Gugino stumbled, trip or fell on his own accord.

What troubles me about this is that when a cop starts to bend over to check on Gugino, he is pulled away.

I don’t believe that anyone joins the police force to ignore a man bleeding from the head who is at their feet on the sidewalk.

That’s wrong in my opinion. Not legally wrong, but morally wrong on some level.

OWB

That was what got my attention as well. However, if this was a staged event, and the cop with the radio knew who he was, it does make sense to pull the other cop away. The provocateurs have ways of making the most innocent of movements appear to be aggression.

It’s almost as if they plan it.

gitarcarver

OWB,

With all due respect if they (the police) knew the guy and knew it was a set up to make the police look bad, wouldn’t they do everything to look good?

“Hey guys, let’s gladly do things that will make us look bad! Aren’t we smart!”

It makes no sense to me.

OWB

You would think so. But, the provocateurs are very clever in their set ups. A lot of possible variables – how long had they been on duty when this happened? Mission focus caused a slight loss of concentration? In any case, the guy taking a tumble was an overreaction to the bump that he got.

Some years back we had to actually instruct folks at a simple, peaceful protest to be alert for people coming up and punching them and filming the response only. For instance.

Some of the tricksters have been pulling this crap sine the 60’s. This guy is old enough to have been one of them.

gitarcarver

OWB,

From what you have said and what I have said, we don’t have a problem with the police pushing Gugino back. Clearly he moved up on the police against their orders as they were trying to clear the streets for a impending curfew.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I am only talking about the optics of a cop who goes to check on a guy and is pulled off of him.

Someone below says “the EMTs were right behind them, which is belied by they video, but even if they were, why not stop and make sure no other officer accidentally steps on or trips over the fallen man? If their focus is down the street clearing the mob, why not make sure the man is safe and the officers coming up behind don’t injure themselves as well?

The actions of the police once the man was down and bleeding make no sense.

MI Ranger

Also, were the cops not treating him, because EMTs were right behind them and whisked him away to the hospital.
When we did crowd response training prior to Kosovo (yes, a long time ago) we trained to ensure the front line did not break, and anything that needed done was handled by the people in back.

gitarcarver

Actually, the EMT’s were not right behind them as the video shows.

Still, a policeman stepping over a man on the ground bleeding from the head is not a good look no matter what.

Kevlar1971

I seen his Twitter or FB and he writes that he is willing to sacrifice himself for the cause.

MSG Eric

The only issue with that is, if you’re on the front of the line and you stop and drop to help someone like that, you’ve just opened a hole in your defensive perimeter.

The proper response is to continue forward and the support assets behind (which were to him within 30 seconds) provide treatment, respond, etc. That’s what they are there for. The cop that pulled him up even called it on the radio immediately.

Combat Historian

Read in Ace of Spades that Gugino was standing so close to the cops so he could skim the cops’ commo channels with his handheld device; he apparently was reaching for a second cop’s belt when he was pushed away and fell and cracked his head. If true, Gugino was not just being a Provocateur; he was actually conducting antifa signal intercept ops against the cops…

Amateur Historian

Not to mention that he had a camera trained on him when he was refusing their order to move. That way, if they didn’t get to jack the police’s signal, they at least have material to claim police brutality.

11B-Mailclerk

Will the funeral for Dorn be on all the networks? Does his life not matter?

SFC D

No. His life does not matter to the “protestors”. His life and his death do not align with the BLM narrative. He was the wrong kind of black man in their eyes, and therefore disposable to them.

A Proud Infidel®™

He wasn’t getting busted for trying to buy booze with counterfeit money when he was killed, thus he doesn’t matter to the protest minion crowd.

So you might say the police got buffaloed.

Turd was breaking the law by violating curfew and violating the orders of the police. I have no sympathy for him

CM

4chan found some really interesting things about this guy and what he had on. They zoomed in on his ears and side of his face and there were (clearly) small tubed with a red liquid inside them. If the media ever actually did its job it should look at that large post on /pol/, copy those photos and call them into question as it appears like he had a fake blood device which he popped and created the “blood” spill. If true that would also mean the cop was involved in it that waved the one who pushed him through so it made it appear like it was an attack.

jarhead

CM…would you please post a link of some sort where those of us interested could get this out to the public. Thank you.

MI Ranger

Here is the supposed “not fake” response to what 4Chan is calling out.
https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2020/jun/09/viral-image/no-evidence-buffalo-protesters-injuries-were-stage/
having now seen the video I would however agree with 4Chan. I have never seen someone who fell and hit their head laying so peacefully on the sidewalk. His arms are not sprawled, his legs are together and comfortably crossed…and then there is that suspicious tube that runs from his mask, and behind his right ear!?
Unfortunately there are no camera angles that show is actual fall clearly, he is always conveniently off camera. The real testimony is going to come from that Army medic that is immediately treating him, which is why the police don’t. Did he remove Mr. Gugino’s mask or not notice the tube to his ear?

jarhead

Thanks for posting that link. Would further appreciate a link discussing the red colored liquid in the tubes filling Howdy Doody’s ears.
