MAD. It’s not just a magazine, but for decades has been the cornerstone of nuclear policy. Mutually Assured Destruction – you hit us, we will hit you back, and however hard you hit us, we will hit you hard enough that at the end of it we won’t be leveling targets, we will be bouncing the rubble from where the targets used to be. As long as that retaliation is probable, no idiot wants to be the one who provokes it, right?

One of the key weapons in the scenario are MIRV missiles – Multiple Independently targeted Re-entry Vehicles, multiple individually and discretely targeted warheads.  One missile, a dozen warheads, some a few aimed here, a few there, some decoys to fool the anti-missile defenses – very clever, and very hard to deal with. Only way to make they scarier? Make them faster and harder to hit. We have been basking in the glory of Western anti-missile defenses for years – Patriots, Iron Dome, the rest – look at Iran’s last strike on Israel; between aircraft and ground based defenses Iran landed about 1% of what they launched.  How will they do against hypersonic missiles traveling ten times the speed of sound? No one really knows.

Now, Putin drew a line in the sand and warned Western allies of Ukraine not to cooperate in strikes in Russia. Up till a week ago, we placed limits on what Ukraine could, and could not, do with what we gave them.  Then Biden authorized Ukraine leader Zelensky to fire  ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile System) missiles into Russia. Since then, we have been waiting to see what Putin would do. Now we know.

The new ballistic missile fired by Russia struck a military-industrial facility in the central Ukrainian city of Dnipro, but its real mission was delivering a deadly new message to NATO.

Hours after Thursday’s strike touched off a debate over whether the Ukrainian plant was hit by an intercontinental ballistic missile, President Vladimir Putin made a rare and surprise appearance on Russian television to clear up the mystery.

He described it as a new, intermediate-range ballistic missile that raced to its target at 10 times the speed of sound.

“Modern air defense systems that exist in the world and anti-missile defenses created by the Americans in Europe can’t intercept such missiles,” Putin declared in an icy and menacing tone.  AP

Videos of Thursday’s Russian strike showed the multiple warheads falling at different angles on the target, and each warhead would need to be defeated with an anti-missile rocket, a daunting prospect even for the best air defense systems.

And while the warheads dropped on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Thursday were not nuclear, their use in conventional combat operations is certain to raise new uncertainty in a world already on edge.  CNN

It must be said that Russia notified all concerned before the missile launched, and clarified that it was non-nuclear, a rarity. Most MIRV missiles are nuclear, and seen as the most significant of  both targets and weapons. Think of it like this – if you are attacked, you have more retaliation launched per missile with MIRVs, but also, such launching sites are prime targets – much easier to hit a single launch site that multiple warheads.Despite that, this is the first time a MIRV missile has been used in combat, much less a hypersonic MIRV.

MIRV technology has been around for decades, but it is surprising  how widespread it has become.

It is not only Russia and the United States that have MIRV technology. China has it on its intercontinental ballistic missiles, according to the Center for Arms Control and Non-proliferation, and the United Kingdom and France, along with Russia and the US, have long had MIRV technology on their submarine-launched ballistic missiles.

And there are new players in the MIRV game, too. Pakistan reportedly tested a missile with multiple warheads in 2017, and earlier this year India said it had successfully tested a MIRVed ICBM. CNN

And while we are at it, the Norks are reputedly working on it too.

Sounds a lot like Mr. Biden has opened up Pandora’s box, doesn’t it?

And if anyone would know about that, it would be him.

And let’s be honest.. At this point, decisions like this are coming from Zero, not the potato in the WH (or more accurately on the Delaware beach)

Hack Stone

Joe Biden announced his run for President on April 25, 2019. Barack Obama announced his endorsement of Joe Biden for President on April 14, 2020. It took Barack Obama an entire year to support the guy who was his Vice President for 8 years. The guy who was supposed to step in and seamlessly continue implementing Obama’s policies and run the country. That’s not a ringing endorsement of Biden.

Looks like biden got knocked out as a 4th term president.

This is Putins way of saying FJB, but with a Russian accent. I hope all involved in letting this get to this point enjoy their designer neckties, while standing around on large blocks of ice.

President Elect Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH Neande

As has been said elsewhere, if Pedo Joe is too mentally debilitated to run for a second Presidential term, then why is he being allowed to set wartime foreign policy?
It shows that this administration is all in on destroying the world and ruling over the ashes.

Keep in mind that the only other option is Harris.

With what, 8 weeks to go Joe(‘s handlers) pulls a stunt like this and peels the lid way off an already rancid can of worms… amazing work. FJB.

No sounds like a 2 year old throwing the tv remote at the TV cause you spanked him for hitting his sister and breaking her toys in her room.

Fk Russia, don’t make Ukraine fight with one hand tied to their balls (worked so well for us) and this shit stops there or in Paris again…I hope Z parks a another cessina in red square, this time packed full of RDX.

The Ukraine War was always going to be a lost cause so long as Putin was willing to keep sending men and resources into the meat grinder. A defensive war with the lack of capabilities of Ukraine to effect enemy logistics the idea was that maybe it would get too costly for Putin and Russia and then he would be convinced by his advisors to withdraw. The Western economic sanctions would also punish Russia and the average Russian would protest and demand a withdraw. The international community would be pressed into service to isolate Russia.

Instead he simply killed everyone who broke ranks with him in the war by throwing them off of a building or out a window. A few he murdered direct and their entire families with them. Some he blew up with car bombs and other false flag attacks. Now everyone is too terrified to say a word.

Protests went nowhere and Russians tend to bear scarcity with patience, as it is still remembered. The economic sanctions of not having a Big Mac and a coke was simply ineffectual. Decreasing the price of oil might have worked, just as it did under Reagen, but this was the exact opposite of the goals of the Biden administration that wanted to increase the price of oil to force a switch to non oil based fuels. Now that Trump is president the price of oil will be forced downwards, SA indicated support for that once Biden leaves office as well.

Not everyone in the international community was on board with isolating Russia and those that oppose the US agenda have rallied around them. China feeds them money and resources, Iran sends weapons and the NORKs send weapons and men. The failure to build an international coalition is another failure that falls squarely on the Biden administration. In short after nearly three years of Biden sanctioned war, there has been no success, only lots of dead and stalemate.

Biden is getting desperate hence allowing the attacks. They will not work.

Putin only wins if his associates in the West convince Ukraine to quit.

Russia lost on day three, when they failed their objective to decapitate the Ukraine government. They again lost three weeks later when they were unable to roll over the supposedly outmatched Ukraine. At three months, the defeat was obvious. The Russian bear was geriatric and bore no resemblance, in ability to gain ground, to the prior Red Army.

Here we are, three-ish years into the war, and Putin is as stuck as month three. Can’t defeat them. Can’t outlast them. They ain’t quitting.

Only option Putin has is to get the Russian sympathetic fanbois in the West to defeat Ukraine for him. Once again, our Left seems to think the Russians are inevitable Victor’s.

Bunk then. Bunk now.

If the Ukraine wont quit, and Putin can’t overwhelm them, he -lost-.

Don’t be stupid and help Putin. Don’t reward Putin for invading a neighbor. And do please remember that Ukrain gave up its nukes because we said we would keep Russia out. Something a bunch of folks seem to want to forget.

You do realize that if we -dont- help Ukraine, they have every right to use nukes to defend themselves. Wanna bet they didn’t hang on to a few, or reprocessed radwaste to make a few?

Heck, a flight of decent missiles or drones packed with Chernobyl radwaste would effectively wreck a major city.

It is in our interest for Putin to lose, the worse he loses the more likely Russia refrains from future “special military operation” invasions. If we hand them a gain and Victory, that they could not otherwise gain, then they just do it all over again elsewhere, probably without the epic fail of their original Ukraine invasion.

We also convince the world that only nukes and the willingness to use them deter Russia. Thus the next major war is likely nuclear.

Just stop. Russia lost. Russia should GTFO. Before things get really ugly.

Slow Joe

And do please remember that Ukraine gave up its nukes because we said we would keep Russia out. Something a bunch of folks seem to want to forget.”

I disagree. Ukraine gave up their nukes because they were stupid. Who in its right mind expects other people to fight for them?
Ukraine didn’t want to pay for the upkeep of a nuclear arsenal, nor did they have the know-how. They could barely maintain the warplanes they inherited from the USSR. Didn’t they even sell their aircraft carrier to China?
Ukrainians made their own bed. They supported Zelensky the same way so many Americans supported 0bama, no worrying about the consequences.

Putin can’t afford to quit and therefore won’t stop without seizing the Petro assets in the Black Sea or installing a government that will give the assets to him. That is all the war was ever about anyway. He could die, that has been the wishful thinking of the West since day 1.

Barring Putin dying, Russia will simply outlast and out kill the Ukraine. While NATO provides weapons and cheerleading from the safety of the side lines the Ukrainians fill very real body bags every single day. At some point they will come to realize two things; firstly, nobody is coming to save them and secondly they face extinction. When that happens the war will end, one way or another.

The Ukrainians have already had more killed in the last three years than the US has lost in every conflict they have been in involved with in the last 70 years, combined. Seeing how it has been three generations since Americans have known a war of that size and over 100 years since they have known a war of attrition most tend to lack perspective and how bad things truly are.

With the removal of the Biden administration they are about to start getting hard news on the war for the first time in three years and it will be eye opening.

Ukrainians seem to be sick of the war too. https://news.gallup.com/poll/653495/half-ukrainians-quick-negotiated-end-war.aspx

This is after they’ve had scads of young men flee the country to avoid being drafted. Average age for their men at the front is 40!

This is exactly what I am talking about. Those pols were taken in 2023 and some in 2024 yet not till after the election do they write an article about them.

No. Read the damn thing.

It’s not Biden.

He’s just the prop stooge with the face they still occasionally use, while they do everything they can to start WW3 before January 20th.

And that’s way worse.

The accuracy and viability of these RF systems should indicate that their Nuke Engagement Schema has birthed some different tactics and equipment.

The offensive nature of this system should wake up those in power to the RF’s first strike capability. Ain’t no “winning” one, yet at some point, given no other palatable option, these could shower Europe and negate their decision making centers in 20 minutes.

Is this really the game anyone wants to entertain?

Below is worth a watch imho:

The updated Russian nuke doctrine was signed by Putin on November 19th. I’m sure a version is available on the low-side.
