Feinstein’s gun ban introduced

| January 24, 2013

Well, we knew it was coming – Senator Diane Feinstein that moron foisted upon us by the fruits and nuts in California introduced her new updated version of what everyone is calling an Assault Weapon Ban. From The Hill;

“I have worked on this for a long time,” said Feinstein in an interview with USA Today. “I’m not a newcomer or a novice to guns.

“The NRA sort of specialized in trying to denigrate me, but I don’t think there’s anyone around that’s spent 20 years on this subject, plus some,” she added.

Says the woman who bans bayonet lugs and belt fed semi-automatic rifles. That will make us all safer, won’t it?

Here’s a photo someone took of the list of weapons that she’s banning. looks like they finally got the Mini-14, but I don’t see any Glocks on the list, maybe these old eyes missed the most dangerous weapon in the history of firearms. I blew it up so you you’ll have to click a couple of times to read it;

BBY-o0DCcAAv_og.jpg large

USAToday says this is the essence of her bill;

Ban the sale, transfer, importation or manufacturing of about 150 named firearms, plus certain rifles, handguns and shotguns fitted for detachable magazines and having at least one military characteristic.

Strengthen the 1994 ban by moving from a two- to a one-characteristic test to determine what constitutes an assault weapon.

Ban firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons.”

Ban the importation of assault weapons and large-capacity magazines.

Ban high-capacity ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

I wonder how many thumbhole stocks have been used in crimes. I’m still trying to figure out WTF a “bullet button” is. Now the USAToday article says that Feinstein’s ban grandfathers weapons owned on the day that the ban begins, but we all know that she said initially that she wanted complete registration of grandfathered weapons, but the USAToday article doesn’t mention that fact – I don’t know if she dropped the proposal or if USAToday is just leaving it out for some reason.

Feinstein’s biggest foe in the ban is going to be Harry Reid who stands to lose 19 Democrats in the Senate if there’s repercussions at the ballot box next year. I think it’s too late for him to worry about that. Just all of the talk in the last few weeks have pretty much sealed the fates of those Senators whether the bill passes or not.

Thanks to Old Trooper for the link.

Well she has to do something! You know handling the budget is not on her radar!

Instinct

A bullet button is unique to the Republik of Kalifornia. It’s the mag release on an AR15, but instead of being able to drop the mag by pressing a button you have to insert the tip of a pen, or a bullet, into a recessed opening to hit the release.

Thus, a bullet button. What they want is non-detachable magazines

????? ????

ohio

And all of those laws about immigration sure kept the illegals out didn’t they? And laws outlawing heroin, cocaine and meth really put an end to anyone using or selling those substances didn’t they?

Country Singer

Evidently, the comments won’t accept “Molon Labe” in Greek script.

Instinct

Don’t forget the laws about cheating on your taxes too

Nik

I’m thinking they just don’t get enough oxygen in the Capitol building.

FatCircles0311

Yup, she’s an expert at shitting all over Constitutional rights that specially say “shall not be infringed”. She’s obviously a novice when it comes to literacy otherwise she wouldn’t be bragging about her decades long crusade to illegally ratify the United States Constitution by means of emotion hysteria. Instead she reaps the rewards of these types of weapons that keep her and her liberty hating politicians safe while simultaneously attempting to keep the serf class from reaping the same rewards.

Watch out my Queen. The Serfs are literate.

jasetaro

John, If I’m reading that list right it looks like she got the Ruger Mini-14 Tactical which has folding stock and pistol grip, but not the standard Mini-14 “Ranch Rifle” or M1 Carbine for that matter.

Which just proves it’s all cosmetics not functionality.

Rondo

Not all of us here in CA are ‘fruits and nuts’ – some of us are pro-gun and hate that wrinkled old bitch like you wouldn’t believe…

PavePusher

So, my Hi-Point 9mm carbine would be an “assault weapon”?

I heartily urge Ms. Feinstein to attempt aerial fornication with a rotationally transiting toroidal pastry.

OldCavLt (K.J. Hinton)

Well, I’m not going to register my guns, so they can go pound sand.

This grandstanding bullshit is likely DOA.

EVERY gun has “one-characteristic test to determine what constitutes an assault weapon,” they all have a barrel from which the bullet is fired.

Morons.

Nik

Wait…so somehow they’re going to round up all the existing weapons that fit that profile? How many is that? Tens of thousands? More?

They can’t even find all the fucking guns lost in Fast-n-Fubared. How are they going to round up all the ones ever purchased that fit the profile?

jasetaro

@13 it’s millions, American’s own roughly 3.3 million ARs and God knows how many AKs… Good luck rounding them all up.

David

Supposedly the list is “any semi which accepts a detachable magazine and has one or more of the scary features” – note
the SU16 (which is legal to sell in CA) which has NONE of the features like pistol grip, flash hider, bayonet lug, etc. is also on the list. She is just trying to ban ALL detachable mag semis. FTFO, lady…

Nik

@15

Thanks. I figured it was, I was too lazy to Google it, and decided to err on the side of caution.

So how are they going to get all those put into a registry? It’s just not feasible to do so in a timely manner.

Adirondack Patriot

Permit me to apply my prolific legal training to summarize the Democrat’s thoughtful and judicious approach to the Second Amendment:

BAN. BAN. BAN. BAN. BAN. BAN. BAN. BAN. BAN. BAN. BAN, BAN, BAN, BAN AND BAN.

Then, BAN. BAN. BAN. BAN. BAN. BAN. BAN. BAN. BAN. BAN.

And. . . BAN.

It’s so rational, I wonder why we didn’t think of this 230 years ago?

rb325th

This is utter bullshit and violates the 2nd Amendment. That argument has to be made, and it has to go to the US Supreme Court. There is so much in there that goes to not just violating the 2nd but others as well.
Forget the fact that “bans” do not work. Forget the 350 murders she claims using “assault weapons”… though I would love to see where she got her numbers as FBI Crime Data does not break it down like that, California by the way with all their bans lead the nation in 2011 with 45 murders committed with a “rifle”. Even further homicide data includes justifiable homicides…

Okay I just heard this asshat claim ammunition that can be bought includes “armor piercing”… Armor Piercing Ammunition can not be bought, sold or traded. It can not be manufactured or imported for civilian use. It can only be purchased by the US Military and Law Enforcement…

DetCord

I don’t see my SCAR on there!

DetCord

Oh nevermind… It’s there. Shit.

FatCircles0311

@13: Libtard logic 101. Can’t round up people who illegally enter the country, get absurd government benefits they don’t pay for, and send the money they make outside of the country. Can go after constitutional right users that broke no laws, finger print them, tax them, and register them.

BohicaTwentyTwo

If I remember from earlier drafts, it also authorizes the AG to add to that list as he or she sees fit. In other words, they can ban any weapon they so choose at a future date.

ohio

Any guns and mags good enough for Holder to supply to the Mexican drug cartels should be OK for US citizens.

Twist

Isn’t her husband an arms dealer?

OWB

Well, so far, my ballbats and steak knives are not specifically itemized as alleged to be upon some mythical, mystical list of items whose use and/or ownership thereof that the socialist dreamers wish to deprive me. But they will be eventually, no doubt.

Got a question for these loons – since speed kills, should speedometers be eliminated from all cars?

@14. It is true that not everyone “from” is either a fruit or a nut. However, everyone who IS in California is either a fruit or nut, unless one is there in military service. Why? The fruit part is self evident. It’s the nut part that makes the declaration apply to all. One has to be a bona fide nut to live in California.

DetCord

@25

Yep.

jasetaro

@17 I have no idea, and neither do they… they’re counting on law abiding citizens to abide by the law and register their weapons.

cannoncocker

What does our resident Whipping Boy have to say about this?

(Yeah, I know I’m intentionally baiting the troll, sue me)

Ex-PH2

I’m just glad to see that my A&P57 is not on that list.

See, while you all are whimpering ‘not my guns’, I’m thinking that first, DiFi has to get it past the filibustering that is likely to take place, and then passed, which may not be as easy as she says, and there is all that “I’m not a newcomer to guns” (meaning I have guns but I don’t want you to have them) crap, and after all, people, elections are not too far off.

And you have to remember that it’s quite easy for arms manufacturers to get around this by simply renaming their stock.

Besides me, who knows what an A&P57 is?

Twist

@30, He’s too busy making love to himself over the list of guns Feinstein wants to ban.

Twist

@31, Knowing your love of photography I’m willing to bet that it is some sort of camera.

MCPO NYC USN (Ret.)

I just read this list.

Thank God, the Daisy Red Ryder BB Gun is not on the list.

When my six year old son recently heard all the blathering about guns he said, “from my chilly and chubby not alive hands”.

Susan

OK, so is it just me, or does that look like a shopping list? I don’t own any of those weapons and am feeling a bit left out.

Reaperman

So, assuming for a second that this passes, are current weapons grandfathered, or are they turned in?

Reaperman

@34 wait until Washington figures out that it’s got a 200 round capacity.

2/17 Air Cav

Jebeebus! I just saw a pic of Feinstein. She has more pancake on her mug than you can find at IHOP.

2/17 Air Cav

A total ban is unconstitutional but the current Supreme Court will have no problem with a prohibition against certain weapons that are deemed by them as firearms not in common use. Don’t ask that question. They haven’t defined the term. A challenge will come, to be sure, but first there must be a law to be challenged. The court must remain silent until then and cannot issue ‘advisory’ opinions.

Ex-PH2

@33 – No, it is an Antipov & Putin 57 semiautomatic hand-carried Gatling gun. It weighs 15 pounds, carries 40 pounds of bullets in a canister, or can be fired with a loaded ammo belt. It does not have a ‘bullet button’, but it does have a quicksnap locking load/unload bracket for convenience. It also has a gun camera with a 300x magnifier, for checking accuracy in shooting at a target, and the bayonet is kept in either a sheath on the side or in the stock, where it should be.
And who are Antipov & Putin, you ask? Well, Antipov is the last name of Pavel Antipov, also known as Strelnikov (The Killer) in “Dr. Zhivago”, and Putin is the last name of Vlad Putin.
Now, where can you buy this magnificent beast? Only in my vivid imagination.

jasetaro

ROFLMAO, this has to be my favorite quote from DiFi’s dog and pony show:

“If they’re not in the stores, they can’t be bought…” -Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY):

Right, I’m guessing Rep. McCarthy has never heard of prohibition or the war drugs? Idiot!

Hondo

Ex-PH2: and here I thought they’d started selling a generic version of Heinz 57 at A&P grocery stores that contained mucho habanero. (smile)

Ex-PH2

Hondo: Well, there is that, too, but I prefer specifics over generic any day of the week.

Hondo

OK, then try “Scorned Woman Hot Sauce” instead. Yes, it actually exists. (smile)

bman

oil sack and waterproof continers selling very well. Some new air tight containers and moisture sucking stuff available also. Reminds me of when the feds came out here looking for the posse guys.

Ex-PH2

How about “Smakk My Ass” hot sauce, some place down in Luzianne. (Yes, 2 ks)

Hondo

Ex-PH2: that one would probably work too. (smile)

2/17 Air Cav

She has used that “I have worked on this for a long time” line a few times recently in referring to her gun-grab bill. It’s as if she thinks her working on it (whatever that means, since no legislator writes legislation), somehow gives it instant validity or entitles her to something. Maybe it’s just that she shocked herself by working on anything other than placating the nuts and fruits in bizzaroland.

PintoNag

“I have worked on this for a long time.”

Oh, look. She has a hobby. How quaint.

Ex-PH2

Working on something is important when you have an obssession, especially when you have control issues.
