Michigan barber Karl Manke has reopened his shop, in direct violation of Governor Whitmer’s Executive Orders. Failure to comply will find him in court. This is similar to Texas salon owner Shelly Luther, and her ordeal at the hands of District Judge Eric Moyé, who fined her and sentenced her to jail. This arbitrary and unthinking sentence shocked the State to such an extent that the Lt. Governor, Dan Patrick, paid the fine and the Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton called for Luther’s “immediate release.” She was. The optics of a single mom being fined and jailed for providing for her children were incredibly bad.
Someone didn’t get the memo.
Whitmer Admin Sics Michigan Cops on 77-Year-Old Barber Defying Shutdown

A 77-year-old Michigan barber said he won’t stop working “unless he is tasered by the police or Jesus Christ himself walks in” and will continue defying Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s executive orders.
Karl Manke, owner of Karl Manke’s Barber & Beauty Shop in Owosso, has remained open despite the stay-at-home order.
Manke told ABC 12 he reopened after unemployment benefits were denied three times.
He has been cited for violating the shutdown order, and supporters have stepped up to pay the fines.
On Friday, state police showed up with an order from Whitmer’s administration to close.
“Today Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Director Robert Gordon acted under the authority granted to him by state law to issue an order that is necessary to correct conditions that pose an imminent threat to the health or lives of people in Michigan,” the department said in a statement to NBC 25.
“The order requires Karl Manke’s Barbershop in Shiawassee County, which overtly defied Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s order, to immediately close to the public.”
Despite the legal threats, Manke vowed to stay open as long as he can.
“Whatever way it is, they’re going to have to drag me kicking and screaming out of this building,” he told ABC 12.
“If the barbershop does not comply with the order, the state will ask a judge in Shiawassee Circuit Court to issue a temporary restraining order,” the department said. “If such an order is issued and the barbershop owner fails to comply, he can be held in contempt of court.”
Manke’s attorney, Bill Amadeo, told The Argus-Press that his client would be seeking a jury trial. Jury nullification, anyone? Read the entire article here: Breitbart

Mr. Manke sure won’t be getting the Texas Hairdresser treatment in the formerly great state of Michigan. Not only is the gov. a over-reaching, my-way-or-die type, so is the state Director of Health and Human Services. The gov. was complaining a few weeks back that Michigan could not get testing supplies, primarily nasal swabs (i.e., Trump bad!!).
The Detroit News editor, Nolan Finley, published in his editorial column the story of a man in Dearborn whose manufacturing firm was making swabs using 3-D printing. Swabs are FDA approved and he ships all over the country but he could not get approval to sell to the state of Mich. The state HHS director, when asked, stated that there is a careful vetting process that takes time.
Meanwhile, this same director and his department approved a no-bid contract for contact tracing to a Democrat campaign data gathering and analysis firm. A no-bid contract because, paraphrasing his words, it is necessary to move quickly in this situation.
I hope all the people who filled in the Democrat block on their ballot are happy now.

I’ll send to his defense fund!!!!! The local police did the right thing, I stay in Michigan. The local police wrote him two citations and washed their hands of the entire affair saying that they would leave it to the courts. GOV Whitmer sends in the state police…. dear lord. The world wonders why the protesters in Michigan were carrying rifles as is their right under state law and the United States constitution. To live in fear is to not live at all.
