Happy Easter! As I mentioned on the Weekend Open Thread, the Easter season begins today. Easter is more than just Easter Sunday; it is a 50-day long liturgical season (Eastertide). Here is a breakdown of major events during the Easter season for 2020.

April 12: Easter Sunday (first day of Easter).
April 12-19: Easter Octave (first eight days of Easter).
April 19: Octave of Easter (eighth day of Easter).
May 21: Jesus ascends into Heaven (40th day of Easter).
May 31: Pentecost (50th day of Easter).

Easter Octave is the first eight days of Easter. Each day is celebrated, by the church, as if it was the first day of Easter. The Octave of Easter celebrates Jesus interacting with the apostles a week after he resurrected. The only other Octave on the liturgical calendar is Christmas Octave.

SECOND and Honorary First once again.

Happy Easter to ALL MY fellow deplorable miscreants!

  3. Devtun says:

3rd, and as John effing Kerry would say ‘reporting for duty’.

  4. Graybeard says:

    Happy Easter!

    He Is Risen!

We have hope because of that fact.

    • OldSoldier54 says:

Truly, truly … HE IS RISEN

      Please come quickly, my Lord!

    • 5th/77th FA says:

Indeed, Graybeard, we are! And all is well with my Soul… I shared ninja’s story and song from the Friday Weekend Open Thread to my Pastors and again this morning at the FIRST Son Rise Services. We had to settle for the lighting up of the gray due to the clouds rolling in from your AO. The nastiness that hit y’all Friday will be with us about 4ish this afternoon.

I adhere to one of the beliefs of one of my Earthly Plain Heros, Thomas Jonathan Jackson, when he said, “I am as safe in battle as I am in my own bed. The time of my death is already determined, so it is best to be ready at any time.”

Congrats to Cameron on his Easter Open Thread FIRST. He has a pattern of being there on the Holiday ones. That whole youth, blind squirrel and a nut thing. He does understand that this is no way affects the standings of the TAH Friday Weekend Open Thread, the ONLY Open Thread that is recorded in the Coveted Book of Open Threads maintained in perpetuity. All other Open Thread’s FIRST are written in the margins of a last year’s desk calendar, or on a sticky note with a grocery list from Thursday’s are for cooking.

We did a small egg coloring/hunt with my kids and my parents yesterday (I’m back at work today). While helping them color eggs, my Mom asks the kids if they know what we’re celebrating. My oldest girl (6) declares “It’s the day Jesus came back!” My boy (4) says “Amen!”

    Happy Easter to all…

In military news, Chicoms’ new assault carrier caught on fire while it was being fitted out in Shanghai naval docks for a September operational launch. It appears to have external smoke damage, but damage within the ship is unknown at this time. The new chicom assault carrier is similar in capability to the USS AMERICA class amphibious carrier. This fire may set back the Chicom carrier’s launch by days or weeks; meanwhile, additional chicom assault carriers are being constructed as we speak…

  6. 10th

60 degrees and sunny in our AO yesterday. Today? We’ve got about an inch of snow on the ground and great big flakes coming down steadily.

  15. OWB says:

    He IS risen!

Happy Easter to everyone. Enjoy it, or Passover, or whatever you wish to enjoy, in whatever manner you wish to do it.

Concur with the time for reflection suggestion. A bit of that going on around here. But mostly just happy that we have this day to celebrate that

My prayers go out to the congregations that are shut right now, the ones by option and especially the ones by jackbooted thugs.
Remember these times and the actions of those authorities that put earthy expediencies above the Law of Nature and nature’s God.
He indeed has risen, may we be amply blessed to walk His path or one suitable to His plans.
Happy Easter my friends, bless; you, your families and this Republic.

    Can you believe it?
Those idiots at Honor Flight Arizona
STILL have photos of Stolen Valor phony LTC nurse
    Maggie DeSanti
    on their website.

Well, all flights are cancelled for now.
Perhaps they now have the time to VERIFY their charity recipients.
Ugh, how some idiots at charities throw around OTHER people’s money.

Easter Sunday Panhandling (Begging) Military Phony SCAM.
At the Miracle Mile on US11 at I-81 and the PA Turnpike exit.

(Paste) Middlesex Township Police say a man was found to be impersonating a military veteran in order to solicit money.
Officers responded to 1501 Harrisburg Pike in Middlesex Township on April 12 for reports of a man in military clothing operating a wheelchair and soliciting money from individuals passing by.
Once on the scene, Middlesex Township officers found the man,
identified as Mark Miller, operating a wheelchair and displaying a cardboard sign asking for cash donations for military veterans.
Police say that Miller was in fact wearing military-style attire.
After investigating, Middlesex Township Police discovered that Miller was never enlisted in the military.
Miller was arrested and the funds he solicited were seized. (end paste)

NO mention in the story, if the wheelchair is fake, too.

    • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

“NO mention in the story, if the wheelchair is fake, too.”

I wouldn’t be even a damned bit surprised if it turned out that he’s not even in need of a wheelchair and was using it as a prop to prey on Peoples’ sympathy.

      • marinedad61 says:

No surprise if he stood up, folded it up,
and threw it in the back of his pickup or SUV.

The police know. They hauled him in.

        • 5th/77th FA says:

So what we have here is an effing POS FAKE PHONEY NEVER WAS IN THE MILITARY dude named Mark Miller in Middlesex Township was scamming money in his fake wheelchair. Be a shame if Ms Karma (The Cast Iron Bitch) was to cause him to have some sex in the middle of his buttocks.

          • marinedad61 says:

Yep. I looked up another article,
he was at the Flying J truck stop on US11,
            at the intersection with I-81,
            right at the Miracle Mile,
1 mile from the PA Turnpike Carlisle exit.
There is NO neighborhood or homes in this area.
He drove himself, or got dropped off.

            • Roh-Dog says:

Pulling that shit in Carlisle? That’s just next-level dumb. In my experience Carlisle has a very high percentage of Vets.
              Good people ‘round there.

              • marinedad61 says:

Yep, it’s the Army War College town,
                2 exits down I-81.
Not only a bad place to try any phuckery,
                it’s ALSO the inspiration for
exposing dirty officers and senior enlisted.
