Governor Bill Lee announces ‘Constitutional Carry’ legislation for TN
The Second Amendment is clear and concise and secures the freedoms of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms,” said Gov. Bill Lee. “I am pleased to announce Constitutional Carry legislation today that will protect the Second Amendment rights of Tennesseans, while also stiffening penalties on criminals who steal or illegally possess firearms.
Gun Nutz should be rejoicing. Soon, they will be able to galavant through the hollers of the “Volunteer State” armed to the teeth. Of course, now they will have to deal with the same kind of explosion in violent crime that “By God” West Virginia has been enduring since its toddlers with guns initiative passed.
Nothing screams Freedom more than giving Americans the nod to blaze away at their fellow citizens. Maybe one day these Gun Nutz will come to their senses and reverse this kind of chaos so they can enjoy the same kind of safety and progressive tranquility that places like Baltimore, MD or Chicago, IL enjoy.
According to Lee, Tennessee will join 16 other states in the United States by introducing a constitutional carry law. It allows law-abiding citizens who are 21 or older accepted in restricted areas. With the new law comes great responsibility as Tennessee has experienced an 85 percent increase in guns stolen from cars and trucks in 2016 and 2017.
The legislation also includes several increased penalties for firearm-related crime to promote public safety including:
- Increasing the penalty for theft of a firearm to a felony;
- Providing a sentencing enhancement for theft of a firearm in a car;
- Increasing the minimum sentence for theft of a firearm from 30 days to 180 days;
- Increasing the sentences for unlawful possession of a firearm by violent felons and felony drug offenders, possession of a handgun by a felon, and unlawfully providing a handgun to a juvenile or allowing a juvenile to possess a handgun.

Baltimore is a great town, except for all the crime, violence, urban blight, and another former mayor going to jail.
Former Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh sentenced to 3 years for ‘Healthy Holly’ children’s book fraud scheme

Kids, you noticing all this blight?

Thanks for helping me get my blood pressure up Bro. I needed it…seriously, it was too low this morning. You know how I am about clicking on the linkys. This scrunt is the epitome of why every Patriotic American needs to be issued a torch, pitchfork, tar, feathers, rail, and maybe a length of rope. Also the epitome of what is wrong with the inner cities, the D rat party, and the entire gimme, gimme, gimme mentality, an example of black on black crime, and how the race baiters have helped keep their own people “on the plantation.” But look how she improved B’more by getting rid of all those statues.
In re the thread article…David Crockett would be so very proud! Now if the Guv could just clean up oh say…Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville. Maybe a former Mayor could write him a book on how it’s done.
“With the new law comes great responsibility as Tennessee has experienced an 85 percent increase in guns stolen from cars and trucks in 2016 and 2017.”
I wonder how many of these gun thefts from vehicles happened in the parking lots of entities that were designated “gun free zones”?
Port St Lucie Florida had or still has a problem with gun thefts from vehicles. In Florida, One doesn’t need a concealed carry permit to have a hand gun in their place of residence which includes vehicles that they drive, so what happened up north of me was that people that didn’t have the CCW would leave their handgun in their cars when they stopped to go shopping and their was a large surge of handguns thefts from cars. I remember the PSA’s a couple of years ago on 850AM radio down here on securing handguns in their vehicles/cars when shopping.
The governor doesn’t need to pass all that extra verbage in his new proposed law. Instead, write in to this effect; “we will follow Federal Government laws and sentencing as regards to gun crimes.”
And then make it stick. Sentence criminals to FedGov gun laws.
I read a piece (probably from Second City Cop or Hey Jackass) about two years ago that highlighted how ridiculous enforcement and punishment for gun felonies in Chicago are. IIRC, the majority of charges are dropped, pled down, result in no jail time, etc. The remaining minority of cases that get prosecutors’ full attention are the law-abiding citizens defending themsleves, of course.
what most people miss is that these city’s violent crime is very often contained in a very small area of the city.
the mostly racist progressive areas do not have a violent crime problem and they could not care less about the areas that do have such problems so long as the problem stays out of their neighborhood.
These urban soy boys demonstrate their racism when they state that POC can’t be expected to have an ID to vote because they are such helpless people who don’t know how the DMV works.
I agree with Biden. “Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.”
I’m curious about the unintended consequences of constitutional carry. I’m a lifetime Tennessee handgun carry permit holder. Currently 36 other states recognize my permit and have reciprocity with TN. I have and do carry in other states as I often work outside of TN. If TN no longer has a handgun carry permit then I’m assuming that we would lose reciprocity with all those other states. Unless it’s another state with constitutional carry, I couldn’t carry my handgun in those states. Does constitutional carry only apply to citizens of that particular state? I tried to find the full text of Governor Lee’s proposal, but could not. Just food for thought.
In theory, reciprocity might still apply…but its likely that the other states have to decide whether to accept the 2A as a right or not, don’t they?
I don’t know about TN, but when NH adopted this policy they continued to issue licenses with the fees and background check requirement in order to keep reciprocity with other states.
They will continue to issue permits because of that particular issue. Generally, the permit requirement for training and education will remain the same.

Good. If more people carried the Constitution, maybe more people would actually read it and demand the government follow it.
