House Conducts Witch Hunt Related Vote on Halloween

The Democrat-dominated House of Representatives formally approved the ground rules for an impeachment inquiry. These rules favor the Democrats’ desires for the inquiry’s direction. This includes potential obstacles to the Republicans.
Republicans get equal time to ask witnesses some questions. However, if they want to bring additional witnesses in, they have to get approval by their committee chair. On the surface, this may seem like basics. Those in charge of the committees would be expected to have this authority.
However, a look at this inquiry’s history and its weak argument hints at how specific Republican requests may go. This is based on something that wasn’t a violation. Republicans wanting to thoroughly engage in the process may have a hard time doing so.

“A yes vote on this resolution today gives a stamp of approval to a process that has been damaged beyond all repair and a blatant and obvious coup to unseat a sitting president of the United States,” Rep. Ross Spano, R-Fla., said.
Democrats, though, maintained that the president’s own actions — pressing Ukraine to launch politically related investigations, and allegedly using military aid as leverage — brought the country to this point.
“I do not take any pleasure in the need for this resolution,” Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., said. “We are here because the facts compel us to be here.”
Showmanship and heated rhetoric marked the lead-up to the vote. Pelosi stood beside a giant placard of an American flag while declaring Congress was “defending our democracy.”
Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., accused Democrats of being part of a “cult,” suggesting Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., is their leader.
Trump tweeted after the vote: “The Greatest Witch Hunt In American History!”
The call to the Ukrainian leader appears to be the centerpiece for this effort. Anyone reading the transcript can see that no wrong was done. In fact, what President Trump is accused of doing was actually done by one of the candidates on the Democrat side.

Nancy Pelosi, when arguing against impeachment for President Clinton, advanced arguments contradicting the ones that she’s making now for the impeachment inquiry. What she said in the impeachment argument in the late 1990s is applicable now. Not when she made the argument back then.

I think that was misspelled. It should be The Greatest Bitch Hunt, shouldn’t it?
This is revenges for Shrillary not getting elected, right? Well, she paid a visit to her home town of Park Ridge, IL, a few weeks ago, and someone from the audience asked her something about her “best moments” during her campaign. She blathered and burbled and – well, frankly, shows some rather odd signs of short-term memory loss. Might be a long-term effect of that fall she took, too.
And those bozos in Congress wanted her in the White House. Well, of course, they did. She’d be their Puppet and they the Puppetmasters.
Seems like the Dems allege to be upset about someone in a position to do so investigating criminal activity of an individual who MIGHT some day become a political opponent.
OK. So what are the options here? To NOT investigate criminal activity if the individual being investigated MIGHT some day be a political opponent?? That would pretty much make any criminal investigation of all political animals off limits, right?
The folks whining the loudest probably only want that to apply to THEIR political opponents while the rest of us want all criminals held accountable for their crimes with no regard for political party, age, race, or any other characteristic of the criminal. Do the crime, do the time. Don’t care who you are.
Right. The Democrats have spent the last three years investigating their political opponents.
The Democrats like to set dangerous precedents. Then blame Republicans when they get the majority back and use those rules against them. Just how it’s McConnell’s fault that Garland wasn’t confirmed or the nuclear option that Harry Reid used.
If this doesn’t stop soon, the Democrats will have guided us into a republic in which whomever has the majorities does “investigations” and impeachments of anyone they don’t like.
