Numbers war

| March 22, 2009

In regards to the ANSWER protest yesterday, I estimated the crowd at less than 3,000, based on nothing in particular, just my experience with protests in DC. Well it seems that the Virginia’s Arlington County Police agree with me, and, not surprisingly, ANSWER doesn’t;

But then, I’ve seen ANSWER report a hundred thousand protesters when there were maybe ten thousand about two years ago. Of course, last year Code Pink was calling less than a thousand protesters, ten thousand. In this story, ANSWER also reports that a thousand groups sponsored the protest – as TSO wrote the other day, some of the “groups” consisted of only two members. Barely a group at all – hell, our “group” of blogging friends was five people.

I’m sure they counted the media types and there were probably a hundred or so media that I saw.

The Washington Post counted them at “thousands” – just their way of being neutral I guess, but they offered an excuse for the low numbers;

Cynthia Benjamin, 56, a registered nurse from Upstate New York and a Code Pink activist, said the march seemed smaller than others she had been part of in Washington. She wondered whether tough economic times kept some people away and whether “a lot of them are thinking, Barack in, problem solved.”

The Washington Times also called their numbers “thousands”. They quoted a sage youth;

Alan Kline, 17, of Fairfax said his future depends on “the state of this country.”

“I don’t want to be part of country that is sponsoring genocide,” he said.

‘Bye, junior! A few thousand people show up out of a population of 300,000,000, and we need to change the whole country because they say so (Or more accurately, because Brian Becker says so)? Yeah, good luck with that.

Allen’s future does not depend on himself and a ton of hard work?? What does the unproven allegation of ‘genocide’ have to do with the success or failure of his future?

Jonn, even the AP dissed the whackos in their story today, saying that “hundreds of war protesters” showed up in DC on Saturday. And, actually, the counter-protesters got as much ink in the AP article as the whack-jobs.

Trs Trooprally videoed their procession. It only took 20 minutes for them to pass.

Typical ANSWER Math is to inflate by a factor of 4, the real numbers.

If they claim 10,000, then the real number is 2,500 or less.

They has claimed 500,000 as their high and 5,000 as their low in the past. We calculate the real numbers were 125,000 and 1,100.

Either way, their numbers dropped by 99% until Cindy Sheehan came along a their protest defribulator.

This one was a por turn out for ANSWER and primarily a bunch of high schoolers on Spring Break.

You’ll be seeing the left eating each other over this embarassment in the next days and weeks.

“I don’t want to be part of country that is sponsoring genocide,” I guess he’s not down with O’Dumbo’s born alive act which adds thousands to the millions of babies already murdered.
Are you punch drunk (aka brain damaged)? BWAHAHAHAHA A question that a sane person doesn’t need to ask about O’Dumbo.
