1 dead after Madison shooting; MNPD investigating self-defense claim

by: Colleen Guerry
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities are looking into a self-defense claim following a deadly shooting outside a Madison restaurant Saturday morning.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the investigation shows there was “an alleged altercation” between 50-year-old Richard Trout and 23-year-old Skyler Whitefield-Brewner in the parking lot of Bar-B-Cutie on Gallatin Pike North when shots were fired just after 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25.

Officials said Trout ran into the restaurant with multiple gunshot wounds and was brought to TriStar Skyline Medical Center, where he died.

Meanwhile, police said Whitefield-Brewner — who was known by witnesses at the location — fled the scene. However, he showed up at MNPD Headquarters Saturday afternoon to speak with detectives.

Authorities said no charges have been filed against Whitefield-Brewner in connection with the shooting, but he was booked into jail Saturday evening on two outstanding warrants for evading arrest and reckless driving. Davidson County Sheriff’s Office records indicate Whitefield-Brewner has already been released.

Wrong house…indeed. Home boy got “schooled”.

Give me an order of beef brisket and some baked beans to go along with that sammich.

During Mr. Mason’s time, military grade weapons were the norm. And when despots tried to take our weapons we shot them.

Every body needs themselves a nice “pumpkin chunker”. Shoulder fired Artillery.

At 51 the boy should’a known better – or was he a catch-and-release?
Whatever, he’s permanently in the smoker now.

.75%… take a look at number of rounds expended per actual casualty and that number looks pretty good. Changes in tactics and changes in weaponry (ie. automatic weapons in suppressing fire, for instance) explain a lot of the difference. Thank God we don’t march in ranks toward an enemy whose rounds, while inaccurate, literally shatter bones worse than modern arms.
