Trump’s Elijah Cummings Tweets Setting Stage for Presidential Campaign

President Trump as “The Storm”. (r/The_Donald)
President Trump succeeded in stirring debate and condemnation with his tweets against some in Congress. This time, slamming Representative Elijah Cummings. His hammering “The Squad”, and then Elijah Cummings, are connected and are a part of a long term strategy.
When he hammered the squad, much focus was placed on the first sentence of his tweet series. President Trump’s mode of operation, with regards to his tweets, deliberately uses errors to get a bigger message across… Via a focus on those errors and on assumptions made about those errors.
His tweets spread, accompanied by frothing at the mouth over the assumptions, without much opposition to the actual message.
One purpose of the original three tweets was to get the “moderate” Democrats to close ranks with the radicals. The tweets also did something else. The second sentence, in the three tweets against the squad, spelled out what he was actually saying:
“Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough.” -@realDonaldTrump
It is a common argument, from conservatives, that areas that have voted Democrat for generations tend to be crime-infested. They’re also broken, given the local and state government’s inability, or refusal, to fix growing problems.
In addition to crime infestation, they also suffer from building and infrastructure deterioration.
Another example used in this argument involves “gun control”. Democrat-controlled areas generally have stronger gun control laws. These appear to be associated with higher crime rates involving weapons.

The swamp is uniting against President Trump instead of uniting to support Americans. (r/The_Donald)
Herein lies another message that President Trump got across with his attacks on the squad. They represented districts that are basically “in the toilet”, and they are attempting to argue how the federal government should do things in general.
President Trump, in another series of tweets, drove that point home:
@realDonaldTrump
Rep, Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous. His district is considered the Worst in the USA……
….As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place
Naturally, the left accused him of racism, and the Democratic Party closed ranks with Representative Elijah Cummings. In the process of this happening, President Trump accomplished another objective.
He shined a light on the crime-infested places that Democrats have represented for decades. With Democrats closing ranks with Representative Elijah Cummings, they ended up “owning” their failures in their districts.
Together with the tweets against the squad, we have two main messages:
1. The Democratic Party has shifted well to the left. They demonstrated this with their closing ranks with “the squad”.
2. The Democratic Party has shown that they care more about power than they do about the people that they represent. Hence, the crime-infested decaying places in areas Democrats represent.
The Democratic Party now owns both radical leftism and the fact that the places that voted for them for generations are crappy places. The people in these areas have complained about their representatives not doing anything for them.
Enter President Trump, highlighting their same complaints. After decades of their Democrat representatives not listening to them, President Trump spoke on their behalf.

President Trump doesn’t need glasses. He has 2020. (r/The_Donald)
President Trump appears to be setting the stage in his favor. He is doing this while the Democrats are still working on who they would nominate.
President Trump is already defining the competing arguments for next year’s presidential campaign… Whether the media, those on the left, and the Democrats like it or not.
He has a nice head start.
His tweets against Representative Cummings is also him striking deep into blue counties and into blue states. He is taking the fight to the Democrat’s home turf and forcing them into the defensive. This is before the Democrats could rally, strongly, behind a single candidate.
As he did with the previous tweets, he highlighted another goal:
“Why is so much money sent to the Elijah Cummings district when it is considered the worst run and most dangerous anywhere in the United States. No human being would want to live there. Where is all this money going? How much is stolen? Investigate this corrupt mess immediately!” – @realDonaldTrump
One of the campaign statements that President Trump made, in 2016, was a promise to drain the swamp. He is slowly, but surely, working toward that end. However, the swamp extends beyond Washington DC.
What if an investigation discovers that some of the federal grants money was stolen or was not used as intended? The door is open to investigating those trusted to manage and disburse this money. This includes those that work for both the state and local governments.
These federal grants become a Trojan horse that could be used to start draining the swamp at the state and local levels in addition to the federal level.

They weren’t protesting the conditions in their districts. They had issues with something else. (r/The_Donald)

You have this exactly right. The pundits all think he was telling them to leave the country, which he never said. Best, and only cogent analysis I have seen.
You are right. He didn’t just say they should leave the country. What he said was worse; that they should go back to the countries they came from.
Making the assumption that, because of their ethnicity, they were not born here.
“If you don’t like it leave” is as un-American and un-representative democratic as it gets, but it is not necessarily racist.
“Go back where you came from” is racist.
Actually, Lars, what he said is, “Go back where you came from, fix all the problems there, and then come back and show us how you did it.”
See? Context is everything.

Nope, that’s not what he said. If you break his statement down by sentence, and not by tweet, you get this: 1. So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. 2. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. 3. Then come back and show us how it is done. 4. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. 5. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements! When broken down this way, his intent is clear. The first sentence was deliberately stated in error. President Trump knew that the media was going to go into a feeding frenzy over that, blinding themselves over what he was actually communicating in the rest of the tweets. In their zeal to make him look bad, they spread his tweets to their audiences… Giving his actual message the exposure that it needed. What was the actual message? Sentences 2, 3 and 4. “Broken and crime infested” is a term that conservatives use to describe places that keep voting Democrat. Look at Elijah Cummings’ district as an example. It’s not the only example. Had President Trump not made the first statement, and had he gone to the second through fourth statements… Read more »
It was interesting to see Rand Paul called a racist this week as well. His comment was simply he would buy a ticket for Omar to VISIT Somalia and see firsthand just how shitty it still is which is why her family left. He said if she visited there when she got back she might be a bit more grateful for what this nation has done for her family.
On topic the President is spot on with respect to Baltimore, the only more murderous city in the nation is St. Louis I think….between that and the urban blight that city qualifies as a shit hole…if you have to live in Baltimore I feel sorry for you because you are in a really shitty part of the United States…
Nah, Chicago’s picking up its murder rate. The gangs down in Englewood are starting their mayhem again to take over the ‘hood, while teenagers and smash-and-grab thieves are raiding the once-Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue.
The Democrats’ basic tactic now is if you criticize a black person, a Muslim, or a woman you are a racist, Islamophobic, sexist. Yet they can call a black Republican a race traitor Uncle Tom all day long.
Hell, it’s pretty damned racist to immediately associate Trump saying Baltimore is rat infested (demonstrably true) with race at all. What kind of mind hears rat and immediately associates black people? A racist. That’s who. Not surprising from the party of slavery, the KKK, and segregation.
The folks who keep shrieking about hearing “racist dog whistles” should stop and think about what it implies when they admit they can hear racist dog whistles.
“A rat runs through a FOX45 Baltimore Reporter’s live shot during a story on President Trump’s tweet Baltimore is rat infested”

Priceless!!!!
All those liberal blacks and white liberals who think they’re being so cool labeling conservative blacks as Uncle Tom’s are putting their ignorance out there on full display. they have quite obviously never read Harriett Beecher Stowe’s novel of that same name.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncle_Tom's_Cabin#Plot
Had they done so, they would know that Uncle Tom, far from being a shuffling, compliant, sell-out, House Negro, was a man of great faith and strong character who paid for his defiance against his white master with his life, a man to be admired.
Just like everything else in their scrambled brains, they have their facts on Uncle Tom ass-backwards.
Those who favored slavery stole the “Tom” name for a Minstrel Show fool. -that- is the uncle of the insult.
There was also a knock-off “cabin” book that tried to show everything was happy happy joy joy for slaves.
Makes sense to me, very good article.
BAM! ON TARGET, FIRE FOR EFFECT!
It is amazing to a lot of us that the twitters are plain to read, yet in the news articles, words are actually added and/or the meaning is twisted. Big Surprise, been happening for awhile. Politicians kept them in physical bondage for years. They have kept them in economic bondage nearly as long. Sadly it is not just the Baltimores, Chitcongos, St. Louises, ect of the country like this. It is as bad or worse in the smaller metro areas that have been controlled by the demon rats for DECADES. Most of us know the infamous remark that LBJ made in private to the DNC after he signed the Scam Voting Rights Act. Many of the blacks that can think for themselves are finally “leaving the plantation.”
A guy I would trust behind me with a loaded weapon (full disclosure – I have trusted him to have my back on the streets in EMS when he worked up here BTW), is a firefighter on the Baltimore City FD as a truckie at a station known as The House of Pain. From time to time he will post pics from some of the jobs, his company catches and we’ll BS about it and the old days when we worked together. The pics remind me of freaking Mad Max times; sweet Jesus I’ve been in Fallujah and I think THEY lived better than these characters do. The media can scream racism all they want, but those pictures do not lie, nor do they have an agenda. This guy doesn’t live in the city either, he commutes in for his shifts and GTFOOD to cleaner/greener/safer pastures for him and his kids.
Even Bernie thinks that Baltimore is “third world”.
Oh, my. I heard what Bernie said. He’s gonna get some votes outa those people. Maybe he could go to Englewood and get some action there, too.
Dennis Smiths Firehouse magazine convention which started in 1991 in the inner harbor moved to Tenn. in 2016 after the 2015 baltimore riots.
I loved Jericho Green’s take on the Baltimore thing: “Ever been to Baltimore? Trump’s right. It’s a fucking SHITHOLE!” If you want an entertaining and enlightening YouTube channel, his is pretty good. He takes down leftism the way only a pissed-off black dude can.
after watching his vid on it, go watch John Ward’s on it, both are gold
I dare anyone to show me an inner city area which has been lorded over by d-rats that ISN’T a total shithole!
Well, there’s, um Trenton, NJ – er, no, that has turned into a slum as bad as Englewood in Chiraq.
Hmmmm…. did you know that when the Devil’s Night fires start in Detroit, the fire department uses them for training firefighters, but doesn’t bother to put them out? Let the building burn. At least, that’s how it was a few years ago.
Gary, IN, maybe – um, no, it’s still a crime-infested town with places even the police won’t go into.
Milwaukee: still bad, and slowly getting worse now.
As long as people are stupid enough to believe that any politician will do follow-up on grandiose promises, those jerks will get voted into office and the cities will slide into hell.
I think you’re absolutely right.
Gary, IN has been that way for decades. In the 80’s my Father was a crane millwright at Bethlehem Steel and had to commute there from Northern Indiana. He avoided Gary like the plague. He used to say that it was so dangerous that you didn’t dare to come to a full stop at stop signs. The cops knew it and even if they saw you run the stop sign they wouldn’t bother pulling you over and giving you a ticket.
I hear Camden, New Jersey is the same way. Never stop for a red light if you don’t want to get carjacked.
I guess you don’t believe that the free market is the most rational means to distribute property then then?
According to the wisdom of the market liberal cities are by far the most valuable and desirable real estate in the country.
People pay a million dollars for a modest two bedroom in many of these places. Thousands a month to rent a small apartment.
The market says these are far from the shit holes ignorant fucks like to claim they are.
These cities are literally the Crown Jewels of the republic.
Some of the most valuable and desirable places to live in the entire world.
In fact, if it were not for the revenue and taxes these places contribute to the national economy the red states would genuinely be shithole third world states.
Nearly every blue state provides more federal revenue than they take in. Nearly every red state takes in more federal revenue than they contribute.
The democrat communities in this country are LITERALLY subsidizing the lives of those in red states.
Maybe we should be asking what the fuck is wrong with red states? Why the hell can’t they join the rest of the industrial democratic world?
Anchor states limiting our national prosperity.
.
Baltimore? Crown Jewel of the Republic? Surely you jest.
Commissar: I guess you don’t believe that the free market is the most rational means to distribute property then then? This has nothing to do with the post that you replied to. A Proud Infidel®™ argued about Democrat ran areas being shitholes. This has more to do with disastrous democrat/leftist economic policies than it does with the effects of the free market. Originally posted by Commissar: According to the wisdom of the market liberal cities are by far the most valuable and desirable real estate in the country. People pay a million dollars for a modest two bedroom in many of these places. Thousands a month to rent a small apartment. This has nothing to do with Democrat and Republican, and everything to do with free-market forces and business factors like command and control, logistics, etc. Chances are that the services that these businesses need, from head quarts/administration to supply and operations, could be found within the city. These happen to also be the places with shopping and other activities that cause other people to converge and spend money. The existence of these business districts, and the communities that they create, is naturally going to raise demand for certain real estate. This would be the case regardless of whether a city was Democrat ran or Republican ran. Population count is also a big factor. However, the differences between leftist and conservative policies are going to make it more likely that a corporation or business is going to be able to keep more of their earnings in a city ran by conservatives for a long time than in a city ran by leftists for a long time. Commissar: The market says these are far from the shit holes ignorant fucks like to claim they are. What part of “inner city area which has been lorded over by d-rats that ISN’t a local shithole!'” did you not understand? API wasn’t describing the entire city as being a shithole. He was just describing certain sections of the city being shitholes. You’re advancing a strawman argument. Originally posted by Commissar: These cities are literally… Read more »
Cumming’s younger wife heads a non-profit which has received millions from corporations Cumming’s Oversight Committee oversees. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Ooooopsie, does that make me a racist?
To a Democrat it does…to the rest of the sane world of course not.
Were Brutha Cummins other than a brother he’d have been nothing, at all.
I only disagree with one thing you said.
“The Democratic Party has shifted well to the left.”
Shifted, my ass…
They have ran off the proverbial cliff of left wing autophagy right into the arms of Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Uncle Ho and the rest of the commie bastards many of us stood against during the Cold War…
Here’s some funny stuff while you speak of rat infested…

You don’t have to “fear communism”
🤭
Amazing the financial turnaround Rep Cummings has experienced, going from loan defaulting and foreclosure on his congressional salary to marriage and rolling in dough…
“The National Legal and Policy Center, a government watchdog group, filed an IRS complaint against Cummings’ wife Maya Rockeymoore’s nonprofit organization on Monday, the Washington Examiner first reported.
The complaint asked the IRS to investigate the overlap between Rockeymoore’s nonprofit Center for Global Policy Solutions and her for-profit consulting firm Global Policy Solutions LLC to determine whether the arrangement was used for “illegal private benefit.”
Rockeymoore’s nonprofit group and LLC have mutual clients, donors, and projects and were located at the same address and share a phone number. The National Legal and Policy Center’s IRS complaint claims that they ‘appear to operate almost as a single entity, allowing for an illegal private benefit for Maya Rockeymoore Cummings and her husband.'”
President Trump is playing them like a cheap fiddle at an all night barn dance!
Test.
Damn … I didn’t study!
