Just in case you were wondering, the Democrats didn’t get to have their way in limiting Pres. Trump’s authorizations for sending troops to the Middle East and elsewhere.
The Senate fell short Friday, in a 50-40 vote, on an amendment to a sweeping Defense bill that would require congressional support before Trump acts. It didn’t reach the 60-vote threshold needed for passage. But lawmakers said the majority showing sent a strong message that Trump cannot continue relying on the nearly two-decade-old war authorizations Congress approved in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. The House is expected to take up the issue next month. – Article.
While I agree that new legislation for this purpose is a good idea, and should be an update of what we already have, it’s not a good idea to try to thwart someone who is a master at maneuvering when you aren’t. I have yet to see anyone in the current crop of loud-mouthed, blustering political animals, including those running for The Office who has the simplest grasp of real negotiating and real-world awareness that Trump has.
But then, he’s a businessman and they are mostly failures at real-world stuff. Really, I think they’d vote against something he proposes that will be beneficial because they didn’t think of it first and can’t claim credit for it.

It doesn’t matter, if it is positive the Dems will try to take credit for it. Just look at how they are trying to claim that the good economy is all Obama’s doing.
That’s nothing new. They gave Clinton all the credit for the 90’s boom, which Perot predicted in ’92 (and he was absolutely spot on). Perot said if the president did nothing (about right for Clinton actually), the economy would boom in the next 5-7 years.
Then they blamed GW Bush for the dotcom bubble bursting, because he came in after it was on the down swing. Continued to blame him when the economy was further hit by 9/11.
If it’s good for America and the world in general, the d-rats are against it, guaranteed…

It is so insane to think that Bernie is *-* this close to getting the nomination AGAIN. He’s an avowed socialist, who is on the record saying that breadlines are good, has praised brutal communist regimes, and took his freaking honeymoon in the Soviet Union! How have we, only 30 years after defeating the Soviet Union in the Cold War forgotten everything?
I guess it’s the same as how we’ve forgotten about the Holocaust. Nobody who truly understands the suffering of those people would conflate anything in modern American politics with it. We’ve still got people alive who survived that and have already forgotten.
Short answer yes. Nobody under 40 remembers Reagan as President.
Few if any under 50 remember the Carter “malaise”, or “put on a sweater”, or the odd/even gas rationing days (5 gallon limit, kids!)
Even the 2008-09 recession pales in comparison to the unemployment and inflation levels of the 1970’s (misery index, anyone?)
Bottom line: for all the pissing, whining, and moaning about how hard millennials have it, they have no clue, just as I cannot begin to compare my “yute” to say, someone who grew up during the Depression. It’s all relative, and when someone comes along promising to kiss their boo-boo and make it all better, it’s amazing how quickly they’ll slip on the chains, not realizing when they hear that CLICK!, there’s no getting out.
First we look at just how many of the D-rats in Congress have ever had a real job in the private sector. Sec we look at just how many have become filthy rich while only supposedly drawing a Congressional salary. Most have been in the Great Whorehouse on the Potomac River for decades and they’re still scared shitless of President Trump because he has fixed more in a few years than what they have done in decades!

Just like Bernie, most D-rats have never had any jobs other than ones that came with a government paycheck. They have never had a hand in producing any good or service in the private sector.
