William Bradley Aydelette, who goes primarily by his middle name ‘Brad,’ comes to us from High Point, North Carolina. He grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina. Aydelette is 46 years old as of April 2019.

This is quite an interesting story as far as Aydelette’s claims, so in order to follow this case one must pay strict attention to the timeline.
On his Facebook profile, Aydelette claims to have been in the Marine Corps from 1989 to 1993. He also claims to have graduated from Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina with the class of 1990.

This immediately raises the question of – How could he have went in the US Marine Corps in 1989 if he was still in high school and did not graduate until 1990?
Delayed entry program? Some people factor that in when they list their service dates. If that is the case, he could not have done four years active duty if he got out in 1993. Perhaps a shortened enlistment or other circumstances? We didn’t dwell on this and moved on. We will return to this later.
Although Aydelette primarily goes by his middle name ‘Brad’ he also goes by ‘William’ depending on the situation. Here is his RallyPoint profile where he claims to be a LCpl and a rifleman.

He also is a licensed private investigator in the state of North Carolina and is registered with his full name. This will be important in the discussion section later.
When he was a Sheriff’s deputy, he seemed to prefer ‘Brad’ as evidenced by his name tag on his uniform.
B. AYDELETTE – DEPUTY
We will return to the names and the dates later, for now we will move on with the military service claims.
Aydelette posts a lot of photos – seemingly of his time in the Marine Corps.

In a more recent photo, he has his shadowbox in the background. In this photo, it appears he has accumulated more ribbons, including a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

I just could not resist finding out WTF that silly ass medal was he has displayed at the top of his precedence order. There you have it ladies, the ever elusive but always cherished USMC Commemorative Medal. YHGTBFSM!

Honestly can’t say if that is his, but the other certificates and awards appear to be his.
But here with this post, the implication is very strong that Aydelette has been awarded a Purple Heart – asking about people telling him “happy Purple Heart Day.”

ACTIONS CONDUCTED BY MILITARY PHONIES
Something didn’t seem quite right about the years. When newspapers and other materials were searched, William Bradley Aydelette was spoken about in terms of being in high school.
When we looked through yearbooks, he showed up in the Grimsley 1991 yearbook as a Junior and in the 1992 yearbook as a Senior.
Remember, he said that he graduated Grimsley High School in Greensboro NC in 1990, but there was no William or Bradley Aydelette listed in the Senior or Junior class.
We were somewhat in doubt that this was the same person, but a DoD Manpower search revealed service dates of 1992 – 1993.

This started making more sense – i.e. graduated in 1992 and enlisted that same year – but why would he backdate the years to claim enlistment in the USMC in 1989? We have a theory on this in the discussion section below.

Ahhhhh…what a huge let down. I was rooting for Wee Willy Wannabe up until now. At this point he kinda has me wondering if he was ever actually a Bus Boy.

SUMMARY SHEET
William Bradley Aydelette’s official military records show that he completed boot camp and went on the advance infantry training (SOI) but did not complete that training. There may be a chance he had a preexisting medical condition that eventually caught – which may be why the Marine Corps discharged him without severance pay vs. a medical discharge.
He served for 10 months vs. his claim of four years.
He was discharged as a Private First Class (E-2) vs. a Lance Corporal (E-3).
His combat history page is blank, so no participation in any combat. Therefore, no chance of a Purple Heart. No Purple Heart is listed as well.
No Recon training or assignments, no jump wings or scuba bubble badges.
TIMELINE
Our speculation as to why he backdated his time of graduation to 1990 – but even that didn’t make sense – was to allow for him to have four years in the Marine Corps – i.e. 1989 – 1993 – which is what he claims. This would represent a normal term for an enlistment.
It is our hope that he did not use a four year claim in the Marine Corps to get the job as a Sheriff’s Deputy. Then, if he used his experience as a Sheriff’s Deputy to obtain qualification as a Licensed Private Investigator, this is piling on one problem after another.
We noticed that Aydelette has Tactical training with military images in the background. It would not be ethical for him to hype a heavy dose of USMC military experience beyond his actual experiences in the Marine Corps.
We also suspect that the blurring the high school years and the use of ‘Brad’ and ‘William’ – may have been intentional to obfuscate Aydelette’s military history, but of course we could be wrong.

While it seems odd that a medical condition that got him discharged didn’t’ show up until the going got tough, he’d do himself a favor it he’d drop about 100 pounds and cut the crap he spouts.

well, there are a few things that might not have been caught until then. remember a few months ago when new privates were dropping like flies with some weird undetected heart condition?
Maybe when boot camp got quite uncomfortable for him he pointed out some disqualifying ailment that sent him to that admin company while they tried to cure him or boot him. It seems odd he spent that long as a “broke dick” before getting sent back to Mom’s basement.
It’s not uncommon for pre-existing conditions to no manifest or be hidden through boot camp.
There’s a chance he managed to make it through boot camp with a bum knee or ankle etc than it got worse at SOI.
If it was an old injury he would have gotten a med discharge, no disability.

I’m curious about the recon paddle? He had PFC, Lance Corporal, Corporal, and then jumps to Gunnery Sergeant, on the other side he has 2LT, 1LT, Captain, and Major. Is this suppose to say all the people in his boat? Office? We usually put one persons badges on their plaque not everyone else’s! They aren’t even straight or inline…not something I would be “proudly displaying” unless it was a memory of buddies I lost in combat. (thankfully I did not lose any, we all came home.)
I was gonna get me one of them commemorative recon paddles cuz I am a grad of Marine Amphib Recon School. But you ruined it for me with that image of my evil auntie wielding it. Now I will have to look for a lightly used RB-7 on Ebay.

At 46, he’s a “recent” retiree of the unorganized militia of the United States. 🙄
And, his “Alpha Male” talk was just self-serving. I can relate to the part where someone tries to get aggressive. I’ve had some try that with me. But, as soon as I spoke to them with my NCO voice, and pointed to them with my NCO pointing hand, they backed down. There are people that are going to push their luck when they think they can keep pushing it.
I don’t think that Brad Aydelette, Phony war veteran, was approaching it from that direction. This was more of him self aggrandizing and identifying himself as an “Alpha Male”. There is a narcissistic twist to this… Something made evident with the above displays of his “awards” and “medals”.
Probably knows deep down in his heart that he is embellishing, but lacks insight on his behavior as well as courage to admit he is wrong.
Most likely believes in his own fairy tale since he has been telling those stories for a while.
Also may felt shame for being discharged after 10 months and used embellishment to cover up his self-perceived “failure”. Perhaps there was a family member that he wanted to please to prove he was worthy.
Sometimes wonder if I should show more compassion for these troubled individals who have to re-invent their lives.
There’s a pattern of poor judgment in his behavior, as we could see with the above photos. This pattern of poor judgment extends outside of his phony persona. This series of poor judgments may have resulted in a “resume” in life that he is not proud of. Thus, propping up this phony persona allows him to be “on par” or “a step above” those he knows who have been successful.
It would be much easier to simply accept responsibility for his poor decisions and the disasters that these decisions lead to. But he has excessive pride. In the video above, he claims that “he couldn’t change himself”… Blaming something outside of him. There’s a good chance that he finds a way to blame someone or something else for something he should be taken responsible for instead.
I watched the fakers, shammers, and idiots over the years find out that ultimately the hard work of doing the right things and being honest are far easier than lying about yourself all of the time.
Eventually, the lies are impossible to remember and then the boom gets lowered at max speed upon the head and the price is due….
I remember being told by a past Mentor “NEVER lie about your Service, take pride in it. Once you tell one lie you have to tell another lie to cover it, then another and before you know it you’re living under a swimming pool full of lies!”. There were quite a few folks on the Book of Face saying they were in the process of contacting or had contacted, Fox 8 and also the Davidson County N.C. Sheriffs Office and also maybe the State licensing board for private investigators to see if he used and of his false claims for his applications to those departments to gain employment or certification. That right there is Stolen Valor (as you know) and to see if there was any reference to a Purple Heart? (That’s an automatic Federal Offense)
In Brad’s view – we are all idiots for assuming that a Department of Defense medal was given for its intended purpose. No, it should have been obvious to us that it was accosted and given in a private, super-secret ceremony by an unnamed civilian group for a purpose other than wounds sustained in military combat.
Apparently, there is a nationally recognized Purple Heart Day for this private award given to him by a yet unnamed, faceless group in this super-secret private ceremony.
Brad, of course, being a super warrior as he claims did not refuse the award because it took away from those that legitimately earned it. No, Brad felt that an auto accident where he claims he lost a kidney was equivalent to being wounded under fire in a military conflict and gladly accepted it.
In his view, we are all idiots and fools for making an assumption about his Purple Heart.

Poor stupid Brad, he’s been very publicly and repeatedly told he’s on the radar and on blast and he just keeps double and tripling down on his bullshit.
Now he’s claiming the Purple Heart he displayed was given to him by a private group not the LEO community. (Well shit, that’s a new one)

When I was in Great Lakes Boot Camp Oct. 1963, we had a recruit that made it through the medical exam at the 39 Whitehall St. Induction Center and then a further exam at the Great Lakes found he had a heart murmer so he was medically discharged. Was from the Bronx NYC.
Buddy of mine got all the way through Corps School and went to FMSS in Lejeune. First forced march at school he fell unresponsive. Turned out he had an undetected mitral valve pathology. Luckily he survived.
That problem is not always diagnosable without listening from multiple positions and having the patient squat and stand or other specific maneuvers.
Had an ENS at one of my commands drop like a wet sack of cement about 2 minutes after completing the PRT run. He was one of the regular PT animals and not one of the “3 miles per year” club.
One minute we’re all drinking water and talking, the next minute the HM’s are in full CPR mode on the ENS.
The story that got back to us was that a blood vessel in his head popped.
When I was at “Fort Lost-in-the-Woods” for Basic and AIT we had one in our Company who was Medically Discharged for having a heart murmur that wasn’t found at MEPS. Good Guy and he would have been a helluva squared away Soldier, but the US Army said “Sorry but…” he was the only one from our OSUT Company that they took it easy on while he was being discharged.

I don’t agree with Marines who think that you’re a real Marine once you get your EGA at the end of boot camp. This shitbag is a great example. Who in their right mind would call a fatbody who completed bootcamp and then got kicked out of infantry training a Marine? You’re no Marine, just another untrained boot.
In the Army, you don’t earn the Army Service Ribbon
until you either complete initial entry training (Basic training + Advanced Individual training).

He said in his “short video”, before his Facebook page was cleaned up, that Purple Heart was from a private organization and he doesn’t claim it on his records nor wear the ribbon for it. But he never said the group that gave it to him. He went quickly over the Honorable Discharge and shadowbox of his Marine time. If he never completed advanced training, how can he have 2 rows of ribbons??
Maybe someone can answer the question, if he was discharged under Physical disability without severance pay, wouldn’t that be a General or Administrative discharge if he never completed Basic and then the advance infantry training (SOI) but did not complete that training??
We had quite a few folks that got out in Basic or Tech School and they were granted Administrative discharges because they failed to complete 180 days and those that passed the 180 day mark (6 months) but failed to adapt or had issues before they got to their first duty station got General Discharges.

I think Hondo has the 411 on that but IIRC once a service member has been in for 180 days they can no longer be discharged with an “uncharacterized” discharge which I believe is what an ELS (Entry Level Separation) usually is.
Since an ELS is not available, the default is honorable. So unless he gets booted for disciplinary reasons, he’ll get an honorable even if it’s a chapter for medical or other reasons.
Well, he did what was expected of him by everyone: tried to cover his tracks, bloaviated about his booboos on his alleged timeline, blamed “other” for finding out his hogwash, cried like a baby because he made stuff up and got FOUND OUT for it.
I do not think he’s dorkwad enough to have earned the Wall, Hill, Swamp or Mountain of Shame but that doesn’t mean he tried.
He does deserve the title of Idiot of the Week. If he tried harder, he might warrant a barrage of insults, but for right now, he’s in Amateur City watching the Parade of Idiots go by, wondering if he should join them.
Well, the NC Private Protective Services Board that certifies private investigators is pretty serious about maintaining the integrity of the people it licenses. I have no doubt that he may shortly lose his ability to be a licensed PI in this state.

Anybody….In his deputy photo what does the “V” pin represent? Would he have been awarded some Valor pin?
There exist possible liabilities for and for the county from his time as a deputy if he unnecessarily caused harm to anyone.
Watching a case very similar where a ex-Marine with In service issues, and later as a deputy has shot at least two personnel in questionable circumstances. Among other things. In this case the deputy was shot with bird shot under very questionable tactical circumstances. And said deputy received a Purple Heart from the local veterans Purple Heart chapter. There are some who now wish they had known the whole story beforehand. Time will tell and the truth will eventually prevail. And for the record, I strongly support the brave LEO. Sometimes there are really bad apples though.
He got some kind of LEO valor award for an act he performed while he was a Sheriff’s deputy. This was never questioned since it was 1) documented and 2) outside the scope of his military experience.
What about times that he got up on a witness stand and testified against somebody? His position would give him credibility.
If it is now determined that he has lied, those people he testified against would seem to have a case in terms of Aydelette’s credibility when it comes to “the truth.”
Exactly! So many local, county, and state law enforcement agencies are having difficulty recruiting due to hazardous duty and below average wages that proper vetting or waivers are becoming more common for new hires. Not to mention false false job applications or omissions.

No dishonor in being released from AD for injuries incurred during training. There is something wrong with being canned for a pre-existing condition if the individual knows of that issue and tries to get over on the system.
There is much, much wrong with embellishing one’s military history, adding years and rate to one’s timeline. Jeez, man, at least you joined, something only a small % does. I’ve been reading about the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. Quite fascinating to say the least.
Curious as to why Aydelette was “removed” from the DCSO. Upon reading, there were quite a few bad apples employed there.
One Sheriff’s Deputy was charged with embezzlement (Davidson County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Eads) and another with robbing a bank (Davidson County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Athey).
There were many problems while under the tenure of Gerald Hege.

I’m curious about the recon paddle? He had PFC, Lance Corporal, Corporal, and then jumps to Gunnery Sergeant, on the other side he has 2LT, 1LT, Captain, and Major. Is this suppose to say all the people in his boat? Office? We usually put one persons badges on their plaque not everyone else’s! They aren’t even straight or inline…not something I would be “proudly displaying” unless it was a memory of buddies I lost in combat. (thankfully I did not lose any, we all came home.)

There’s a pattern of poor judgment in his behavior, as we could see with the above photos. This pattern of poor judgment extends outside of his phony persona. This series of poor judgments may have resulted in a “resume” in life that he is not proud of. Thus, propping up this phony persona allows him to be “on par” or “a step above” those he knows who have been successful.
It would be much easier to simply accept responsibility for his poor decisions and the disasters that these decisions lead to. But he has excessive pride. In the video above, he claims that “he couldn’t change himself”… Blaming something outside of him. There’s a good chance that he finds a way to blame someone or something else for something he should be taken responsible for instead.

I also noted that he shared his 1992 Senior High School yearbook photo on Facebook, but said it was from 1989.
He also said that all the rank on his paddle are what he wore on an uniform (???), which does not make sense, unless it was a Halloween outfit or a costume from a play.
The guy definitely has some mental issues, a brain hiccup. He got caught with his lies and is now attacking as a defense mechanism, instead of acknowledging the truth.

When I was in Great Lakes Boot Camp Oct. 1963, we had a recruit that made it through the medical exam at the 39 Whitehall St. Induction Center and then a further exam at the Great Lakes found he had a heart murmer so he was medically discharged. Was from the Bronx NYC.
Buddy of mine got all the way through Corps School and went to FMSS in Lejeune. First forced march at school he fell unresponsive. Turned out he had an undetected mitral valve pathology. Luckily he survived.
That problem is not always diagnosable without listening from multiple positions and having the patient squat and stand or other specific maneuvers.
Lazy practitioners can cost a life.
Had an ENS at one of my commands drop like a wet sack of cement about 2 minutes after completing the PRT run. He was one of the regular PT animals and not one of the “3 miles per year” club.
One minute we’re all drinking water and talking, the next minute the HM’s are in full CPR mode on the ENS.
The story that got back to us was that a blood vessel in his head popped.
When I was at “Fort Lost-in-the-Woods” for Basic and AIT we had one in our Company who was Medically Discharged for having a heart murmur that wasn’t found at MEPS. Good Guy and he would have been a helluva squared away Soldier, but the US Army said “Sorry but…” he was the only one from our OSUT Company that they took it easy on while he was being discharged.
I don’t agree with Marines who think that you’re a real Marine once you get your EGA at the end of boot camp. This shitbag is a great example. Who in their right mind would call a fatbody who completed bootcamp and then got kicked out of infantry training a Marine? You’re no Marine, just another untrained boot.
In the Army, you don’t earn the Army Service Ribbon
until you either complete initial entry training (Basic training + Advanced Individual training).

Maybe someone can answer the question, if he was discharged under Physical disability without severance pay, wouldn’t that be a General or Administrative discharge if he never completed Basic and then the advance infantry training (SOI) but did not complete that training??
We had quite a few folks that got out in Basic or Tech School and they were granted Administrative discharges because they failed to complete 180 days and those that passed the 180 day mark (6 months) but failed to adapt or had issues before they got to their first duty station got General Discharges.

I think Hondo has the 411 on that but IIRC once a service member has been in for 180 days they can no longer be discharged with an “uncharacterized” discharge which I believe is what an ELS (Entry Level Separation) usually is.
Since an ELS is not available, the default is honorable. So unless he gets booted for disciplinary reasons, he’ll get an honorable even if it’s a chapter for medical or other reasons.
Well, he did what was expected of him by everyone: tried to cover his tracks, bloaviated about his booboos on his alleged timeline, blamed “other” for finding out his hogwash, cried like a baby because he made stuff up and got FOUND OUT for it.

Anybody….In his deputy photo what does the “V” pin represent? Would he have been awarded some Valor pin?
There exist possible liabilities for and for the county from his time as a deputy if he unnecessarily caused harm to anyone.
Watching a case very similar where a ex-Marine with In service issues, and later as a deputy has shot at least two personnel in questionable circumstances. Among other things. In this case the deputy was shot with bird shot under very questionable tactical circumstances. And said deputy received a Purple Heart from the local veterans Purple Heart chapter. There are some who now wish they had known the whole story beforehand. Time will tell and the truth will eventually prevail. And for the record, I strongly support the brave LEO. Sometimes there are really bad apples though.
He got some kind of LEO valor award for an act he performed while he was a Sheriff’s deputy. This was never questioned since it was 1) documented and 2) outside the scope of his military experience.
What about times that he got up on a witness stand and testified against somebody? His position would give him credibility.
If it is now determined that he has lied, those people he testified against would seem to have a case in terms of Aydelette’s credibility when it comes to “the truth.”

He was born in May 1972….and if he graduated in June 1992, he would have been 20 years old. If he graduated before a certain day in May, he would have been 19 years old.

Curious as to why Aydelette was “removed” from the DCSO. Upon reading, there were quite a few bad apples employed there.
One Sheriff’s Deputy was charged with embezzlement (Davidson County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Eads) and another with robbing a bank (Davidson County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Athey).
