Delegates from 33 countries and 120 organizations began arriving in Cuba last week as part of a solidarity caravan transporting humanitarian aid as the island grapples with a severe energy crisis.
Members of “Our America Convoy to Cuba” arrived by air from Italy, France, Spain, the United States and several Latin American countries. More arrived by sea via a three-boat flotilla from Mexico.
Hope they made reservations, all the good hotels are booked.

Far-left activist groups and personalities flocked to Havana, Cuba, this week in an effort to protest the economic sanctions imposed on the country by President Donald Trump’s administration.
The far-left group CodePink sponsored flights to the communist-led island, and the group was joined by Isra Hirsi, the daughter of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and left-wing Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, an ally of democratic socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. The group has faced heavy backlash for staying in expensive hotels to meet with government officials even as Cuban residents go without electricity.
Trump imposed an oil blockade on Cuba earlier this year after the U.S. captured former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
Some delegates in the “Nuestra America Convoy,” including Piker, were staying at the 5-star Gran Hotel Bristol Meliá Collection and similar resorts. Piker defended the move on social media, saying U.S. law required that they stay at the ritzy hotels.

One thing I am confused about here is how will sending more communist authoritarians to the failed communist authoritarian state help? Sitting around on their collective asses isn’t going to do much.

Piker is a dual US-Turkish citizen, why would he give a zip about US law? Be that as it is, there are plenty of cheaper places to stay that aren’t on the list of places prohibited from staying (those owned by Cuba are prohibited, everywhere else is fine, including air BNBs). If they were serious they could just do like Sean Penn and stay in a tent.
Because these are the enlightened, wise communists. The communists that will show Cuba the error of their ways. People who are wise in all things socialist. You know, morons.

Yeah, I checked. The U.S. Department of State’s Cuba Prohibited Accommodations List calls out specific properties in Cuba, and prohibits persons subject to U.S. jurisdiction from lodging there. These banned properties are owned or controlled by the Cuban government, or a close relative of a member of the Cuban Communist Party.
Which no doubt includes all the 5 star hotels.
If that’s rhe case, and if Marco has any balls, there will be a team of LE waiting for them to return, and take them into custody at pier side, and charge each of them accordingly.
(Of course, everyone knows that will never happen.)
