Funeral for SGT Frank J. Suliman (Korean War)

| April 23, 2019

This January, DPAA announced that it had accounted for SGT Frank J. Suliman, US Army. SGT Suliman was lost in North Korea on 1 December 1950.

SGT Suliman will be buried early next week – on Tuesday, 30 April 2019, in Wrightstown, New Jersey. Regrettably, DPAA does not seem to have posted the specific location for his funeral or interment.

If any TAH readers have the precise location for either SGT Suliman’s funeral or interment, please post it in comments below. And if any readers are in that area and have the time, here’s an opportunity to give someone lost during the Korean War a proper final send-off.

Following 26Limabeans lead:

“A box with Suliman’s remains, a femur bone, will be flown in from Hawaii to New Jersey for burial at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Burlington County…”

” His Sisters have arranged for a viewing 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. April 30 at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Ave., Edison following by a 1 p.m. service at the cemetery.”

There are some nice pictures of SGT Suliman in the following article as well as a touching story about his Sisters who will finally be able welcome him home:

“Remains of Hero US Army Veteran Who Died in Korean War Finally Coming Home To Edison”

“Cmdr. Frank Aleck of VFW Memorial Post 3117 in Edison said post members will attend Suliman’s viewing and burial and will notify other VFW organizations in hopes of presenting a large turnout at the cemetery”

I suspect there will be.

Many Thanks to the people who work to identify and get these Warriors Home. Many Thanks, too, for Hondo, 26Limabeans, and AnotherPat for bringing us the “Rest of the Story.”

Y’all make a comment. I ask for so very little. Thanks!

Roll out that Gun you keep under cover and render a proper Salute at the bugle call.
I expect it to be clean and drab, properly serviced and crewed. Ask a neighbor to help.

The 1842 reproduction 6 pounder mountain gun we had was lost when my Captain lost it in a divorce. She didn’t need or want it, but didn’t want CPT Buffalo to have it. The chassis and wheels rotted off and the tube was “stolen” at some point in time. I do own a repro 1862 Cohorn trench mortar, man portable with a trained four man crew standing by to render Honors. Ain’t nothing but a telegraph keying to assemble a full battalion of guns to render 21 gun Salute.

Beezer, Barefoot James, Good Time Charlie, and I will be standing by for the firing command on the mortar.

Sparks

Rest in peace Sergeant Suliman.

Ex-PH2
