US Army Captain Killed in Ethiopian Airlines Crash

Then 2nd LT Antoine Lewis. (Stars and Stripes/SCREENSHOT/DVIDS)

Captain Antoine Lewis, 39, was among those who died as a result of the airlines crash that occurred recently in Ethiopia.

He was in Ethiopia to do missionary work. Based on the descriptions from those who knew him, he had a passion for doing things that made other people’s lives better.

From Stars & Stripes:

A married father of a 15-year-old son, Lewis planned to start a business or charity and build a home in Africa after retiring from the military, family said. He had made several trips to the country, they said.

He had joined the Army as an enlisted soldier and later earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees, his father Rodney Lewis said. “He was also stationed in South Korea, he was a military man, he loved it, he was moving up through the military.”

The soldier’s wife, Yalena Lopez — also an Afghanistan veteran — told the local station she was still in disbelief, calling her husband a loving man who was trying to become a better version of himself each day.

Another great American goes home to his maker far too soon. Rest in peace Sir. God bless and protect your devastated family.

He violated the two commandments of mission work:

1. Never fly to Africa

2. Never fly in Africa.

Man I am glad I used a VTC instead!

On a less humorous note: Very sad to hear a young man who survived the war, meets his end planning for his future after the Army. May God bless him and keep him.

Keyed in and commented on this when AnotherPat brought this part of the plane crash story to us. A tragic loss for the Family, our Military, and the people of Africa he was trying to help.

Still nothing on the Lame Stream Media on the loss of this good man, that I’ve seen. They seem to be concentrating on the “greenies” that were lost why the delay on grounding the American Carrier’s fleet.

Godspeed and Farewell Antoine Lewis. His Peace be unto the Family. May we soon find the real cause of this crash.

RIP, CPT Lewis. I hope you were in Heaven a half-hour before the Devil learned you were dead.
