First!
Did you call me WW? Why yes I was FIRST on the only FIRST that counts among all FIRSTs. The Friday Weekend Open Thread FIRST! You know, the one where the FIRST is recorded in the Coveted Book of First. The FIRST that is earned, never awarded.
Sorry, I was bogged down over on the Girl Viper pilot thread and got distracted. I’ll be back in a bit bit. Multi tasking, between this thread, the girl viper pilot, Gunsmoke, and a pot of chili.
Thanks for calling.
Now THAT seems to be the appropriate Lording Over the rest of us Dickweeds! Nicely done!!!
The first for the Weekend Open Thread applies to the Weekend Open Thread. They hold the “first” crown until the next Weekend Open Thread.
The first for the Midweek Open Thread is a different contest. The contest for first on the Random Open Thread holds the crown for ROT First until the next Random Open Thread.
I’m recording the firsts for the Midweek Open Thread on my trusty Veteran Organization calendar.
This was just a test for Friday! Just wanted to make sure the old digits still function!
Wait until Friday!!
Be at the top of your game Friday, WW. 5/77’s been pretty unbearable as First for the last week and a half.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
*grin*
Competition is getting hot, WW…the King of Battle is going full speed for his third FIRST!!!
(Getting out the popcorn for Friday)…
😉
First!
Third? Or maybe second? Who knows
Because no rules apply to the MOT, there can be as many firsts as there are claims to first. That’s two so far.
I’m keeping record for the MOT firsts, as well as the rules for such contest. As with the WOT, there’s only one first. Wilted Willy is First for this MOT. His name was recorded on my trusted veterans organization calendar as making first this MOT. [Looks at previous Wednesday on said calendar], 5th/77th FA was first for last weeks MOT.
Sure you are. Love the emojis. Got a weather report?
Another one bites the dust…
Muslim Man Executed After Supreme Court Denies Plea to Have Imam Present:
http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/02/scotus-denies-mans-plea-to-have-imam-present-for-execution.html#comments
Yeah, he’s gone. He killed three, two boys and, much later, a 15-year old girl. He will kill no more. He found Islam while in prison. That’s nice. I trust Allah is the forgiving sort.
Well, bye, you sniveling coward. I hope you are fed to the pigs.
Read about this several days ago.
“Alabama Executes Domineque Ray For 1995 Killing of Selma Teen”
https://www.al.com/news/montgomery/2019/02/courts-weigh-mans-religious-rights-in-holding-up-alabama-execution.html
The Attorney General of Alabama nailed it:
“Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall issued a statement after the execution: “For 20 years, Domineque Ray has successfully eluded execution for the barbaric murder of a 15-year-old Selma girl. In 1995, Ray brutally deprived young Tiffany Harville of her life, repeatedly stabbing and raping her before leaving her body in a cotton field. A jury gave him a death sentence for this heinous crime. A year before, Ray had also taken the lives of two teenage brothers, Reinhard and Earnest Mabins. Tonight, Ray’s long-delayed appointment with justice is finally met.”
Disenchanted that the media focused more on Ray’s religious request than three murders he committed…all teenagers.
Let us not forget their families.
Inshallah, bitch. No virgins for you.
He did not need an Imam. He needed an undertaker.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤪🤪🤪🤪🤣🤣🤣🤣
Spew alert! THAT was a great early evening guffaw! Had me rolling!
Did he allow the people he killed a preist/rabbi/imam to be present?
Fuck him and his request…
100% in agreement with your comment. One thing I’d like to personally add is Fuck the Imam likewise. That way you have no one sided story tellers presenting their slanted opinion on how merciless the execution was. Besides, how many times would the Imam be reminding us of the 72 virgins waiting for him? Damned animal like this deserves only 27 crack ho’s all with bad teeth and AIDS.
I want to be first forth so …FORTH!!
Back at work after a couple of snow and ice days off, for a few days until DJT Pulls the plug again.
DO IT!!!
Make those fuckers give you that 6 billion to finish the wall.
Fuck you, you inside the beltway a$$holes.
I agree with you Chip, fuck all the ones inside the beltway! I hope to God you don’t have to live there?
Close, I grew up inside the DC Beltway but now I’m just barely inside the Bal’more Beltway. At least quite a few miles away from the daily gun battles.
I found this and thought it would be a nice tribute to the Coast Guard. The Coasties get less print, probably b/c there are relatively fewer of them. Anyway, this is a nice tribute to them and their heroics, led by LCDR Yost, who would later become the Commandant of the Coast Guard. Their contributions to this nation are many: AMERICAN HISTORY! THE COAST GUARD SAVED THE NAVY! TRUE AMERICAN HERO! During the Vietnam war, Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. (Lcdr.) Paul A. Yost, Jr., later Commandant of the Coast Guard, was leading a group of 13 swift boats during the insertion of Navy Underwater Demolition Team-13 and some Vietnamese marines when his column came under attack from a Viet Cong ambush that managed to heavily damage multiple boats, kill American and Vietnamese troops, and isolate the last boat. When Lcdr. Yost found out that his last boat was trapped in the kill zone and his other ships weren’t in shape to recover it, he took his command boat and one other back into the kill zone to rescue the Sailors who were still under attack. The 13 boat movement was part of Operation Silver Mace II, which was put into action to break up Viet Cong operations in that section of Vietnam. The boats were to drop off the ground forces and then provide support from the river. The first five boats reached the insertion points for their marines and completed their mission without incident. The other eight boats continued upriver. When they went to drop off their marines, a US Marine major assigned as an advisor went to Lcdr. Yost and asked that the Vietnamese marines be dropped another mile upriver because the going was hard and no Viet Cong activity had been spotted.Lcdr. Yost agreed. Just to be safe, Lcdr. Yost ordered the two Seawolf attack helicopters assigned to him be launched. They were based on a ship 15 minutes away. Lcdr. Yost’s boss, Navy Captain Roy Hoffman, ordered the helicopters to sit tight, possibly to ensure that they wouldn’t run out of fuel before they were needed.… Read more »

Hmm linky thing didn’t work…
NPC cartoon, enjoy.
In more sad comedy the California Air guard had a pair of boots peed into five years ago. She is still upset. No DNA samples were taken but people are out to get her. She is trying to get the state TAG officer fired.
Note to self– never store my boots and uniform in a public bathroom stall and expect nothing funny to happen.
I’m the first on this thread…
…to say that the disbarred lawer from California is still dead.
NTSP-results still pending.

“Northam Postpones Black History Month Reception Amid Fallout”
https://wtop.com/virginia/2019/02/northam-postpones-black-history-month-reception-amid-fallout/
But Shaun King wares blackface everyday?
Talcum X is always good for a humorous, usually unintentional, series of tweets every week.
Ralphie couldn’t make up his mind whether he should appear as Mr. Blackface or as The High Exalted Imperial Grand Wizard, so he postponed the whole thing…
I noticed in the yearbook picture, that whoever was the Blackface was wearing eyeglasses…
Have never seen any pictures of Northam wearing eyeglasses…
Which means he may be telling the truth…that he wasn’t Blackface in that picture, which means he was the Dude wearing white…
See where I am going with this?
Which is worse…Blackface or KKK?
Y’all may recall when all of this FIRST hit the news that my FIRST comment was a bet that he would get a pass.
I guess it’s OK to murder babies, wear offensive costumes, rape women, and destroy War Memorials if you are a demon rat. A meeting he had the other day mentioned removal of all Confederate Statuary in Richmond as a condition of forgiveness by Black Leaders.
I’ll be at the betting window arranging for the transport of my winnings. Where in dahell is Jeff LPH? He has been MIA for several weeks now.
Tanks for the extry linkies AP, (rtr), HMC Ret, CH, & thebesig.
5th/77th FA (godawgs):
Bet Northam won’t take down Stonewall Jackson’s statue at VMI…
😉
Unfortunately that will possibly be one of the FIRST to go. He’ll say that particular statue is the one that caused his racist side to come out. It is an ironic shame that the statues of two of the most God Fearing and best Military minds that this country has ever produced are vilified by revisionist history. Neither Lee nor Jackson owned any slaves, and Jackson paid out of his own pocket for the church and education of blacks at home. Both men’s strategy and tactics are still taught at Hudson High. The Bear’s overall plan for Desert Storm was pretty much a copy of the Chancesorlorsville of 1863 Campaign.
The antifa and enemies of the USA crowd will not stop at just Confederate War Memorials and Flags. They are intent on destroying the entire history of this country. A recent case in Dekalb County Georgia (Stacey Abrams district) had damage to not only a Confederate Monument, but also a WWI and Veterans Monument….Sad ain’t it.
rtr/hbtd/gabn
What’s amusing, 5th/77th FA , is that Northam is a VMI Graduate…😉
Yep! Knew of that. He’ll get a pass, the school won’t. The truly honorable grads of that fine school are purely disgusted at his actions. Prolly, back when, they didn’t have a lot to do with him or his ilk. A typical career politician, his sh*tbaggery goes deep into his “history.” All three will walk, cause they’re demon rats.
The National Organization that pays Honor to War Between the States Veterans, has long condemned any association with Klan or other such groups.
5th says: “… Neither Lee nor Jackson owned any slaves….”
Robert E. Lee: the South’s finest gentleman and soldier — regardless of cause, slaveholding, etc.
Per his father-in-laws estate Lee set all slaves free upon f-i-ls death. Most stayed on at Arlington and worked for the family. They had belonged to his wife/estate.
Hi 5th. You write:
Custis’ will stipulated the manumitment within five years of his death:
Lee waited the full five years as stipulated in FiL’s will. In that time, three runaways were captured in 1858 and Lee ordered them lashed:
One Unionist newspapaper falsely reported in 1859 that Lee laid on the lashes himself; however that innacuracy is contradicted by Norris, one of the whipped slaves, who said (paraphrased), “the overseer would not whip us, so the county constable, Dick Williams, was summoned; Mr. Lee watched and encouraged Mr. Williams to “lay it on well.” Norris and his cousin was then sent to Hanover Courthouse jail and his sister was sent to Richmond to be hired out.

I’m still a military fan of Gen. Lee ~ I just recognize that he was a major slave holder of between 200~300 slaves. He had mixed feelings about the institution.
I didn’t know a lot of these facts until today. Research is fun!

How many of us remember Ethel Rosenberg?
She reminds me more of the infamous “White Widow”…
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samantha_Lewthwaite
I know of only four Ethels: Rosenberg, Barrymore, Merman, and Mertz. I’ve never met an Ethel.
Ethel Waters…😊
https://youtu.be/_QbeNSatFFo
I thought the link was to “Ethel” Williams, the swimmer turned actress. Well, Esther ain’t Ethel and I had a Readers Digest I-didn’t-know-that moment when I opened your link. I’m not a jazz fan. According to Wiki, “Waters married three times, had no children, and was bisexual.” I think that’s important information, that last item. Cripes.
Great voice, great singer. Don’t care who or what she (or most other folks) slept with.
So why is that included in her bio? Must be a plus thing. She was ahead of her time. She liked to bed women. Crazy world.
I remember how the lefties loved to claim they were both innocent. The prosecutors were willing to drop the charges against her if he plead guilty and they both would have avoided the death penalty. But he refused and sealed his wife’s fate, but done for their beloved cause of commies everywhere. See, a great example of true love on this Valentine’s Day. Also, for the illumination of those of the left, like our fave commie-lover, the Venona files proved conclusively that Rosenberg was guilty and his wife was in on it to some degree.
The bag on her head did not help her looks much.
“Former U.S. Air Force Sergeant Charged With Spying For Iran”
Her photo shows her wearing officer US pins on her lapel, not enlisted (US):
Does anybody know her highest-held rank?
rgr1480:
The NBC article cited above said “Witt left the Air Force in 2008 at the rank of Technical Sergeant”.
AnotherPat,
Hmmmmm …. I spent 5 years in the USAF (1973-78) before they found out my parents WERE married — then sent me to the US Army. (old joke ….)
I did not recall EMs wore the US brass without the circle! I just did a google-fu and …. they do. Or, they did. Looks like it changed back to (US) in 2006:
rgr1480: I, too, thought Enlisted had circles around the U.S. and that only Officers wore U.S.
One article had Witt’s rank as “Air Force Officer” and the the above mentioned article had Tech Sgt.
It is so confusing!
Thank you for sharing that article…learn something new every day about our Sister Services..😊
Don’t think (but could be wrong – who knows what happened after I retired) that enlisted ever wore the US without the circle. That Peak era bus driver, no nametag uniform removed the US insignia, with and without the circle, from everyone’s uniforms. I think. Maybe.
For sure, I know that shortly after DS/DS/DS I attended the NCO Academy in full regalia uniform. My last in residence school in late 90’s – I just don’t remember the collar insignia.
Elimination of the shoulder boards sure is a dumb idea. It was much easier, except on the occasion when the sleepy face put them on backwards…
Today, 77 years ago, Peter Tork of the 60s Band, The Monkees, was born.
Suddenly, I feel old…well, older..

Hey Hey we’re the Monkees, and we’re not monkeying around.

Our little Garage Band that me & a coupla pards had, we concentrated on the show ’nuff Rock and Roll stuff. The WHO, Steppenwolf, ect… Kinda pissed us off that the little teeny boppers wanted to here that fruity stuff. Just saying.
Did your drummer play the solo from In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida?
ironbutterfly
Matter of fact he did, the long version. We had a good time for a few years, sock hops, skate rinks, parties. Then life happened. Drummer got a school deferment, his sister/vocalist started dating football heros, lead guitarist got a medical (asthma) deferment, I jined up with the artillery. Have some regrets about not picking that bass back up later on. Lord help that was forever ago.
My High School marching band borrowed heavily from that drum solo for our marching cadence.
Your link is an MSN email sign-in box. Wild guess here…that’s not what you meant to post.
Whew!…Good to find out I’m not the only one that couldn’t click on a linkie thingie. Thought the swabbie was coitusing with us.
This will ruin all you pro football fan’s day, Wisconsin GOP strips Colin Kaepernick’s name from resolution recognizing Black History Month.
Whenever I watch very old movies, I look for oldsters and think, “They were alive during the Civil War.” I just watched one with, I do believe, actual Civil War Veterans. There was also a fellow named Babe Ruth in the film. His part lasted a few minutes. Cab driver Harold Lloyd drives him to “the Yankee Stadium” and, as Ruth steps from the taxi, Lou Gehrig, the Iron Horse, walks past the far side of the taxi and looks directly at the camera. A. MAZ. ING. The silent film, “Speedy,” was made in 1928 and starred funnyman Lloyd. Wow.
The last Confederate Veteran, IIRC, was William S. Bush. Believed he passed in Apr of 1953. I may be mistaken, we’ll Google Fo latter. As I youngster, I did know some direct sons and daughters of Confederate Vets. My Papa’s Mama was a real daughter. Hearing stories from these people pushed my interest toward history in general and Military History in particular. I wish I’d of made a more spirited attempt to properly mark some of the old grave sites in the old family Church yard. Some of them we only have a general idea of where the exact location is.
One of the last reunions of War Between the States Vets was the 75th Gettysburg 1938. Pics of that are on the innerwebz. Bunch of stuff on the 50th out there.
I was watching Fritz Lang’s Metropolis earlier. Similarly, I was watching the kids in that flick and thinking that they would be in their 90’s now, if they’re still alive.
Sheesh…Some People..And getting a young child involved…😞

Until there is full prosecution of the laws, this type of behavior will lead to more and more stupidity. Dindu nuffin, good boy, held back by racissim and society….smh

“After Communist China joined the Korean War in October, 1950, any United Nations prisoners they captured were sent to camps along the Yalu River, the border between China and North Korea. It just so happened that the region was filled with wild cannabis.”
“Prisoners would pick the plant while collecting firewood and then dry it over camp fires. With Korean War POW camps lacking typical barbed wire enclosures, prisoners could also sneak out during the night to top up their stash. The pot was so plentiful that some prisoners even slept on pillows stuffed with it. By war’s end, virtually every prisoner held by the Chinese had used marijuana at least once….”

Wow, I made the mistake of reading the comments on that post… the stupidity made my head hurt… Leftists are a very uneducated group, completely convinced of their “moral” and “intellectual” superiority… even though they have the morals of a snake, and the intelligence of a brain damaged lemming…
Hey, since this is the open thread, anyone seen any more info on that ‘military intelligence” broad that apparently defected to Iran? I was just thinking that she must be some relation to “He who shall not be named”, or maybe even him in drag…. in any case, definitely sounds like they’re two birds of a feather.
