And now, for something entirely pleasing…
Well. Well, well. You may want to check this link, if you’re feeling a bit down in the mouth about the libertards and leftreds these days. And we all need a pick-me-up in the winter, don’t we?
https://gunfreezone.net/nics-numbers-for-2018-holy-s/
Per the attached chart from Gun Free Zone, the number of background checks for 2018 is almost as high as it was in 1988. Click on the chart in the link to enlarge it. The year-by-year totals are in the righthand column.
Look at the accumulated BG check totals in the 30 years since 1988, in the lower righthand corner of the chart.
It appears that the numbskulls who are afraid of GUNNNZZZZ! Have employed the Law of Unintended Consequences in their zealous attempts to restrict ownership and control of personally owned weaponry.
Oh, well!!
I assume those guns are AW!Ed’s. My thanks to him for the loaners! 🙂
I think they really do need their own planet, preferably one with large carnivorous dinosaurs.

What sucks is that none of those purchases were mine.
The way things are going in CA, if Newsom and the rest of the idiots get their way, legal law-abiding citizens won’t even be able to buy Pop Tarts for fear you could take a bite out of it and make it LOOK like a gun.
People have asked me why I travel so much and don’t move to states closer to my work. My response usually starts out with, “Well, for starters, half my guns are illegal here….”
Every time I see Newsom on TV, I think of Robert Duvall in “Open Range:”
“We got us a warrant, too, Marshal. ‘Cept ours ain’t writ by no tin star, bought and paid for. It’s writ by *us*, and we aim to enforce it!”
Newsom is the golden boy because he bought and paid for the position, and thus bought and paid for the election. The democrats run California as the kind of organized criminal enterprise Capone could have only dreamed of.
Wasn’t the little short fellow pictured here the NCOIC of the Door Gunnery Class for DS 9? Seems like I recognize his attitude.
Gots me a matched pair of the .45 percussion dueling pistol. Needs a spring for one of them. Accurate as all hell and packs a good punch. One statistic never really talked about is the number of primitive firearms out there.
Why, yes, the little fellow in the helmet was the instructor for that class. Mean as a snake, too. Sometimes brought his K-9 to classes with him, but when it came to Space Shuttle Door Gunner instruction, he was DeBestis.
Just as long as you bring them back as clean as you took them.
Given the design, probably a leaf spring? Can probably modify an easily obtained flat spring from an existing revolver main spring with a Dremel tool if you take care not to get the spring too hot.
There are sites for the enthusiast. If it is modern, parts may be available (Siler lock, for example)
Track of the Wolf is one place to look.
Make-do may work as posted elsewhere.
Got one on the way from James County out of MO. Don’t tell nobody but I picked them up at a yard sale, $20, mounted in a shadow box. They’re, according to my man there, early 60s. Swapped the good spring back & forth to test them out. 1/2$ (lady friend thought I was gonna shoot the Kennedy half, she knows my opinion of them), 3 shot pattern @ 50′. 30 gr of F4, 3 ea round and minie’ ball. Blowed hell out of a few cans of tomato juice too. Good times!
Four F? Be careful. That is very fast powder intended only for priming. Damage to the breech is possible. 3F is proper for a .45, and 2F works.
Sounds like you have a real find. Enjoy.
Yeah, Roger that, those thoughts went thru me head. The 4 was what I had handy and you know, hold my beer and watch this. It was mixed with about 1/2 & 1/2 2 & 4 with a 20 not 30 grain, damn a typo, load. FIRST round we had it clamped down, sighted in and pulled the trigger by string Lord looks after drunks and fools, and on that day we were all pulling double duty.
I was thinking that as well.
3F is my druther for my percussion items.
Ahem, yes…shhhhhh.
The gun grabbers need to go swimming in a lake chock full of crocodiles and piranhas that haven’t eaten anything for a week or two!
Just Google “John Doe Wisconsin”
Last year, some people in Connecticut elected a 22-year old dweeb named Will Haskell to the state Senate. He ran against Trump and guns and, by gosh, he means it! He just introduced a bill to increase the state tax on ammo by 50%. On the CT House side, the same bill was introduced by an organizer of the pussy parade–er, Women’s March. Her name is Jillian Gilchrest. So, Willy and Jilly want to tax ammo specially. F’n morons. Just as in VA, in CA, in NY, and elsewhere, these knuckleheads don’t just wander in off the street and take a seat in their respective capitols. People actually elect them. Tell me there is hope. Sometimes, I see none.
When the courts keep finding against their anti-gun agenda (that pesky Constitution Ted Lieu doesn’t like) they have to find a way to run around it. Guns are fancy clubs without ammo. So I can admire this predictable path only in that they are at least very committed to this wrong course.
Well, this end-around is precisely that and I expect that after (perhaps) a court victory, the bill, if it is enacted, will be just so much paper after a non-activist judicial tribunal gets to consider it. Willy and Jilly weren’t even smart enough to call it a revenue enhancer, which would have given it a chance for survival.
I note that higher ammo prices in NOVA have not impacted the crime rate.
They know this as well.
The game is all about placing firearms only in the hands of LE and military.
For some reason, the far left believes both that LE and the military are fascist jack boots just looking to kill people and that they are compliant and willing accomplices in their power grab.
Weird how the minds of the leftists work
Hognose (RIP) the much-missed publisher of Weaponsman.com wrote about gun numbers and checks.
The totals are staggering.
If folks are squirrelling even five percent of the arms and ammunition, it could feed a high-grade insurgency for decades.
Given how common are certain precursor chemicals, noisy high-order improvised mayhem would also be part of the carnage-acopia. Silent mayhem too.
We do -not- want to go there. Sanity must prevail.
Sadly, the folks that embrace Socialism and its Progressive spawn are already basing their politics on fantasy and foolishness. Not a good sign.
I find it interesting there’s a consistent uptick in s̶t̶r̶a̶w̶ ̶p̶u̶r̶c̶h̶a̶s̶e̶s̶ gift purchases in November and December.
Y’all just gotta quit talking about this stuff. It always gives me an incredible urge to go buy something. Y’all drove me to stop by a place with a suitable inventory, but nothing jumped into the car for the ride home.
Hmmm. Maybe just go inventory the cleaning supplies.
You don’t have to have a FOID or CCW to just buy ammo, do you? Just askin’ for a friend.
Rules vary by location. It is cash-n-carry most places, but some places went weird and restrictive.
