Ed Liroff Sentenced

| February 5, 2019

You may recall TAH writing about Edward here.

Well, he’s in the news again.

Edward Liroff, 47, of the 1900 block of Southwest Michelangelo Avenue, was sentenced Thursday in federal court, according to a U.S. Justice Department release. In November, Liroff pleaded guilty at the St. Lucie County Courthouse to theft of government property and making false claims of military accomplishments.

The investigation began March 8, when Liroff submitted applications for two jobs with the city of Port St. Lucie, the Justice Department said. During the application process, a city official said Liroff produced a DD214, a form used to verify past military service for benefits, retirement, employment and membership in veterans organizations.

His recent photo (above) sure looks different than him in uniform (below).

BlueCord Dad

Is he related to Occasional-Cortex?

Jay

Def got AOC eyes. He’s gonna tell people in the joint its the ‘1000 yard stare’. Every one knows he knows ‘tee tee though, very little’. The only bad bush he saw was between an old mama san’s legs.

Hossman

It’s that look of fear when you realize your six is no longer covered.

ArmyATC

He caught a glimpse of his cellmates Bubba and Thor.

Or, the big-fingered guard putting on blue gloves with a SNAP!

Veritas Omnia Vincit

The mugshot looks like he’s just realizing his actions will result in some serious legal problems.

Four years probation seems like he was lucky with respect to avoiding a federal pound him in the ass prison.

U.S. District Judge Robin L. Rosenberg on Thursday sentenced Liroff to four years’ probation and ordered him to pay over $4,000 in restitution. Apparently the top picture shows Liroff reacting in stunned relief to the judge’s lenient sentencing.

Mason

Probation and $4k restitution?

Present your wrist to the bailiff for slapping, Mr. Liroff.

He’ll be back to doing it again before he’s off probation.

Green Thumb

Yep.

Wilted Willy

And my POS brother goes on collecting his $3200 a month for his fraud and nobody will do anything about it! He has scammed us all out of more than $750K and that ain’t peanuts! When will somebody investigate this asshole and put him back in prison where he belongs!
What would the judge give him?? Maybe two slaps on the squeakhole???

USAF RET

Should have put that tool behind bars for a few months just out so he would get a “taste”. He will do it again, somewhere, sometime. That sentence has zero deterrent effect.

5th/77th FA

Agreed. To all. No real punishment means no real deterrence. We’ll see him again. At least he was officially charged with Stolen Valor, so there is that. Until there is some very sure, very swift, very public punishment of these tools, it will be on going.

Good luck finding a job POSer. I hear that Brucie’s Bath House (Entrance in the Rear) may need an Apprentice Towel Boy. Or maybe the middle dumpster behind the Flying J.

Hack Stone

Word on the street is that All Points Logistics is hiring. He just may be qualified for that senior executive postin their Reston VA office.

2/17 Air Cav

His legal issues may not be done. There are not sufficient facts for me to conclude that his subsequent conviction violated his initial probation, but it’s a possibility. And even if he’s clear of that, he still has four years in which he has to be a good boy. For some people, that’s far too much to expect.

Roh-Dog

That look when the CIB you’re trying to sneak into the jail shifts in your prison wallet.

SFC D

That look when you get dorked in the squeakhole.

Is that all, dang I gotta modify my last DD-214 so it matches the information that the va supplied to their people. Magic marker time so that it does not show anything that predates 1969 and also date of rank, no body that I have heard of has gone from E-1 to E-5 in less than 5 months and little schooling. That will make it match any info they use. Since I was stupid enough to follow anything I was told by their Admin at a meeting to register for as to any potential health problems, now they can proceed as any other records I had in my file cabinets here have gone away so the road is clear for fraud and stolen valor prosecution. Three hots and a cot and private room (easy to get just deck a guard and instant solitary) oh yeah no va id anymore as sent it to head of the va hospital as it is as useless as any paper work. Should have taken that Marine spokesman for all vets from a couple years ago and wiped my ass with all the paperwork as in his words “that is all that my paperwork was good for”.

Well let me see, in 2006 I was urged to join VA hospital, which I stupidly did. Started getting care there and then here when they opened up a tele health clinic here. At a meeting last fall here by the hospital admin here for Vets to update us on development’s at the hospital and again took stupid advice from people there to file registration for PTSD, Agent Orange and any other help I might need in the future. Yes you guessed it and stupid here did it. Last week went to Mental Health evaluation at the Hospital (which is 125 miles away) and during the process found out there is no record provided to them that reflects any Vietnam service as well as anything prior to January 69, no record of place of birth or if graduated high school. Was to call DVA to see what they had and yes they verified that was what they had there also, so asked I asked if they had my previous DD-214 on file and after some digging they found one that was 65 to 69 that was over looked and they would forward it (good way to say who gives a shit I’ll fake it for you and make you happy). Oh by the way if you try to call any VA hospital as to any service records they have on file they will tell you all they have only medical records (means who gives a crap as I am to lazy to look). Now to me, having to find out myself for any records they have is a waste of my time as they seemingly should forward all information they have to the necessary people requesting it and those who receive them should reed them and forward pertinent information to all that need it. Personally to me that is typical Government operation, of who gives a shit, so I am just blacking out any pre 1969 information on the latest DD-214 so that it reflects what they supply for records to others, have taken any records I have except the… Read more »

Didn’t he already start serving 9 months in jail effective July 2018?

https://www.wptv.com/news/region-st-lucie-county/man-who-pretended-to-be-a-decorated-veteran-sentenced

“In court, a judge credited him with some of the time he has spent behind bars but he still must serve nine more months in jail.”

2/17 Air Cav

Yes, the acct is available through one of the TAH links way up on top. He was also given a year’s probation, which is I suggested he may not be out of the woods. That probation may have been violated by the instant conviction. It all depends upon when the new crime(s) were committed–before or after the first probationary term started.

Hondo

I think the first trial was on state charges and stemmed from using falsified documents for public employment, 2/17 AC. The more recent conviction also appears to stem from using those same falsified docs (or copies of same), but seem to have been Federal charges due to defrauding the VA.

Dunno the timeline of when he applied for/received VA bennies, but I’d guess that wasn’t after his most recent conviction – he’d been incarcerated for a while prior to being convicted on those other charges and was supposedly required to serve an additional 9 months. But I can’t say that for certain.

I’m wondering if he wasn’t tried on those Federal charges while in state custody.

Ex-PH2

I guess he just wasn’t careful enough about rockin’ the lie. You’re supposed to start small and then go big, not start big and go small.

2/17 Air Cav

I would never get in a stare-off with Liaroff. I don’t believe he can blink.

Green Thumb

Loser.

I wonder if he wore that uniform to the annual All-Points Logistics Christmas Party.

USMCMSgt (Ret)

If he missed the Christmas party, it’s almost certain he wore it to his job interview with Phil.

They must have had his roommate Bubba strip naked for him when they took his picture.

“They must have had his roommate Bubba strip naked for him when they took his picture.”

That might be his “Oh, shit, they DO come that big” look. Wonder how many cigs his ass is worth?

rgr769

So, did anyone ever run a FOIA on this asswipe of a valor thief? Most here would like to know it he ever served, cuz someone who did must have shown him how to pin all his fake bling on those dress blues in a roughly correct display.

“Investigators concluded Liroff never served in the military.” Source: Linked news story

rgr769

That Federal judge should have given him at least 18 months in the federal slammer for his felony fraud committed on the VA by claiming a Purple Heart to get priority free medical care. He needs a convicted felon classification to follow him for the rest of his life.

Damn Florida Again!! He will be again for violating probation!!
