Update: Boone County Prosecutor: Man acted in self-defense in shooting of death of Ahmonta Harris

by Riccardo Montgomery
COLUMBIA — The Boone County Prosecutor’s Office completed its review in a fatal shooting finding no wrongdoing by the man who killed Ahmonta Harris.

In a letter to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, prosecutor Dan Knight said Deonte Gainwell did not commit a crime for shooting Harris. Knight explained Gainwell was not arrested for the shooting and that no request to file charges against Gainwell was made to his office.

According to Knight’s letter, Gainwell acted in self-defense as evidence “clearly shows that Harris unlawfully entered Gainwell’s residence and attempted to rob Gainwell before Gainwell shot Harris” on Nov. 24.

Police: Store owner who shot would-be robber ‘nothing short of a hero’

By: Jasmine Minor
CINCINNATI — A Cincinnati police captain said a would-be robber is dead because a 63-year-old convenience store owner protected herself.

“A 48-year-old individual comes inside, points a gun to her head, demands money,” said Capt. Paul Broxterman.

Police responded to the Glenway Pony Keg on Glenway Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officers found James Douglas, 48, had been fatally shot. Broxterman said the man was trying to rob the West Price Hill store, but the owner put up a fight — shooting and killing Douglas.

Yet another case of poor victim selection skills.
Police say shooting in Home Depot parking lot occurred during attempted robbery

By Kaley Johnson
Police shed more light on the deaths of two men in Fort Worth who were shot in a Home Depot parking lot in far south Fort Worth, saying the shooting might have occurred during a robbery.

Zyshonne Dunkley, 20, and Olynthus Davis, 19, died from gunshot wounds on Jan. 17, police said.

Police believe Dunkley and Davis were attempting to rob someone in a car in the parking lot when the person or people in the car shot them, Detective C. Watson with Fort Worth police said.

“It appears that they were shot by who they were trying to rob,” Watson said.

Well Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, it’s been a banner week here at your daily FGS. To end the work week (furloughed Feds- sorry) we have a stunning 4 / 0 / 0, a trifecta +1, four on Boot Hill, none hospitalized or otherwise inconvenienced, and none reported in the wind, unless you count the shooter at Home Depot.
Since 5/77’s buying, I’ll have the Porterhouse, rare, the stuffed potato and a large draft Stella. For desert I’ll have another Stella, please.

Among the recently diseased(anyone know that reference?) are a 19 and a 20 year old. Rhodes Scholars im sure….

Where’s Claw with the Whiz Wheel? I hope it’s been cleaned, oiled, balanced, and had other necessary PMCS done on it lately.

Doc Savage

Quite the line up for Claw today;

Ahmonta Harris
James Douglas
Zyshonne Dunkley
Olynthus Davis

HMCS(FMF) ret

All of them were “good, churchgoing kids” that were “role models in the community”…

I work at the local Social Services office. Had a client come in with a kid named “GENIUS”. I pronounced it like it looks. She gets pissed and corrects me, “It’s pronounced JA-NYE-US”…..well of course it is….

We’ve got a running joke around here: If I mess up your name, your PARENTS messed up your name. Never mind the mom who had 3 daughters named Cherry, Peaches, and Strawberry….I wish I could make this shit up.

J.R. Johnson

Had a teacher telling similar stories of twins named “Mau-lee” and “Fem-au-lee” (that is not how they spelled their names though). They were fraternal twins…mother claims the hospital had given her the names when they were born!

Met a young lady on a call one night who’s momma named her Airmeter(pronounced Ahmeta). Mom saw the oxygen flow meter on the wall of the delivery room, and when the nurse broke down the explanation for her because she didn’t understand “oxygen flow meter” the nurse called it the air meter. So young Airmeter was named.

Dunkley and Davis are not a law firm.

Outcast

But, but, but, they were good kids and were attending law school so they could start the law firm.

Ok started week with trifecta and end with 4 in the dirt, now I got to root for Dave as he has 2 bogus seals reported, come on Dave 1 more and you will have a trifecta.

Azygos

I’m guessing Zyshonne and Olynthus were Amish?

Nothing wrong with a wheel gun. My daily carry is a S&W 642 in .38 sp.

IDC SARC

Except when anti-gun nutz figure out that double action means it shoots with each successive pull of the trigger…that’s like…full semi-automatic. Ermahgerd

Doc Savage

Perfectly harmless unless used with those dang “heat seeking” bullets that seem to be so common in New York.

and the speed loader modifications that exponentially increase the rate of fire, capacity, velocity, mass, penetration, cavitation, and spontaneous generation of brakeless thermonuclear chainsaw bayonets that further words words words words words!!!!!!

Doc Savage

Got mine on Amazon…..free shipping ya know.

Azygos

Speed loaders?

Mine came with three 30 round clips. I couldn’t afford the shoulder thingy that goes up though. Maybe for my birthday.

26Limabeans

I am a klutz with speed loaders.
Droping them on the ground while trying to turn the knob the wrong way is my specialty.

26Limabeans

Double action is two shots with one trigger squeeze.

Sister Mary Grace extends her blessings to the store clerk who pulled a gun and shot the guy who pulled a gun on her.

While you’re sorting that out, it’s Friday, it’s cold and there is snow outside. Ice fishing weather is here.

Calling Jeff LPH, Jeff LPH to the white courtesy phone. Jeff, I’ll be needing another Brinks truck to haul this load of money from the Betting Window again. A second Triple Crown, with a bonus DRT, in one week adds a 6.9 multiplier. Drinks, Brunch, and Supper is all on my tab. Oh and it’s free pizza for the kiddies and Ladies Night.

Here, let me light that cigar for you.

HOLY COW !!!!
Happy Friday everybody !!!
And I like a good full sized M&P 9 myself !!!
Big heavy gun with enough rounds to stop pretty much a half of an infantry squad on a good day !!!
I traded off all my cheap Taurus weapons and now have enough S&W to last me a lifetime.
And then for the really big guys there is the Kimber .45 ACP 1911 Custom II.
I mailed one of my targets to my daughters girlfriend for Christmas. I wrote on it, “I’m still the boss”…
The effect was immediate and the laughter from my daughter was heard all over the great state of Wisconsin !!!

Quadfecta. A rare day for the FGS.

My Smith is an air-weight.

The shootin’ iron in your photo is an S&W Model 10 with the heavy barrel, likely in .38 Special, though at some point it may have been available in .357 Magnum. Wish I still had the one I bought in 1982, after burglars stole my Browning Hi-Power.

RGR 4-78

I hate thieves.

Still have my Hi Power I bought in 1980.

rgr769

I bought mine in Phoenix, AZ, shortly after completing the SAS CQB course in Hereford, UK.
After three weeks of shooting one every day, I wanted to own one. I couldn’t afford a replacement at almost $400, as I paid $135 for mine in 1972.

rgr769

AW, congrats on your reporting on our first tri-fecta in recent memory. I suspect the correct spelling for Mr. Harris’ (RIP) first name is Ahmonta_”y,” unless it is pronounced Ahmon-tah. Anyone think he went by “Monty?” Also, Mr. Gainwell has shown he knows how to handle that Glock; likely he doesn’t need more range time. That double tap to head after two center of mass shows some skilz, except one round hit Harris in the arm.
