When They Came For Kavanaugh’s Kid

| October 3, 2018

The following was published by The American Conservative

From editorial cartoonist Chris Britt. How can a man do this to another man’s child? How can editors allow this to pass? What corrupt and wicked hearts they have.

UPDATE: For some reason, this image is being passed around to some people as if I approved of its message. If you’re going to send it around, please point out that I *abhor* this image.

UPDATE.2: Still getting e-mails from people denouncing ME for drawing that cartoon. Wild.

UPDATE.3:
WILL YOU RIGHT-WING IDIOTS WHO THINK THAT I, ROD DREHER, DREW THAT CARTOON AND/OR APPROVE OF IT PLEASE GET A FREAKING CLUE?!

I’m closing comments on this thread, because I’m tired of dealing with these morons.

UPDATE.4: This just came in from the publisher of the Illinois Times:

There appears to be a great deal of confusion surrounding the recent Chris Britt cartoon featuring Judge Kavanaugh’s daughter. I saw that you shared it on your website and I know it has been shared on various other social media sites and attributed to our publication. However, we did not publish this cartoon, either in our paper or on our website. Chris posted it to his own Facebook page and tagged us in it, which we asked him to remove as soon as we became aware of it.

Chris Britt is not an employee of ours, he is a nationally syndicated cartoonist. While we have published other cartoons of his, we had not seen this particular one and had no knowledge of it until the death threats and hate mail started pouring in. I saw it for the first time myself yesterday.

I would be glad to speak with you about this situation if you would like to talk directly, but I am hoping that you will be willing to issue a clarification on your site. If people have issues with the cartoon, they can certainly take it up with Chris, but we had no knowledge of this cartoon and were not a part of promoting it. I happen to agree with you that children should be left out of political discussions.

So stop writing to them about it. The fault is Chris Britt’s, not the newspaper’s.

Death threats and hate mail…WTF did they expect?  We are much better than that here at TAH.    Please consider sending something like this instead.

Hate mail can be anything these days, but death threats?
I am sorry but conservatives by nature don’t send death threats.

Every single case of death threats I have seen have been issued by a leftist.

So, what was the death threat exactly?

2/17 Air Cav

I agree that conservatives don’t do much threatening of death. Why give prior notice? If a conservative wants to kill someone, he kills someone. The threat shit is for pussy boys.

Mason

I have a feeling it’s a pretty loose interpretation of “death threat”. As in, someone sends something like “showing disdain for God and targeting a child, you will be judged by Him.” becomes a death threat.

MSG Eric

There are lots of people out there that seem to have an auto-death threat send when something controversial drops on the internet. I don’t think they care about anything but throwing out the death threat because they think it makes them cool and courageous.

Ex-PH2

The authors of the US Constitution, in their wisdom, knew that there are consequences to doing really, really stupid things. It’s the reason they came up with the whole idea of putting ‘freedom of speech’ into written form.

Mr. Britt is now officially a social moron who thinks he’s being funny when he’s a clueless ass with a brain the size of a pea.

I sincerely hope that he enjoys the notoriety and the overt reactions to the license he took in portraying the child of someone he does not know personally the way he did.

He isn’t funny. He isn’t even smart. But he is quite notorious now as someone who should probably be shunned in polite society. And by shunned, I mean anyone and everyone who runs into him can turn their backs on him, not serve him at restaurants, not speak to him at all, not take his cart at the checkout line at the grocery store, and refuse to deliver stuff to his house.

Definitely do not speak to him or acknowledge his existence, unless you want to spend a few dollars and send him a bag or two of gummy dicks.

What an asshole!

Poetrooper

What a FLAMING asshole!!!

There, fixed it for ya, Ex.

Ex-PH2

Thank you, Poetrooper!

obama’s children were “off limits”

Any Republican kids are fair game.

And they wonder why there is such hate against the fake legacy media.

Any cartoons on Kieth Ellison kids? How is he totally ignored?

Further proof that libtards are mega-hypocrites and liberalism is truly a Mental Disorder.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

I think that it was feinstein who said the other day that there was no evidence that ellison sexually assaulted the lady in question and the incident was not on camera.

A Proud Infidel®™

Leave it to feinschwein to be a World Record HYPOCRITE.

Green Thumb

Yep.

2/17 Air Cav

He leaped over the line of decency when he posted that particular cartoon on his FB page. He’s a self-professed liberal and, lately it seems, liberals have jettisoned all pretense of decency. As for his body of work, he’s a very talented cartoonist and, after seeing this story, I checked out some of his other cartoons. They are good.

2/17 Air Cav

Here’s another of many recent examples of decency lost.

“Look at this chorus of entitled white men justifying a serial rapist’s arrogated entitlement “All of them deserve miserable deaths while feminists laugh as they take their last gasps. Bonus: we castrate their corpses and feed them to swine? Yes.”

So tweeted an associate professor at Georgetown. The school said that it was done on her dime, through her own account so she’s good to go. Really? Please raise your hand if you believe that the school would have had the same response if she had written, ‘Abortion is murder of babies in the womb and those who support it deserve miserable deaths and their corpses fed to swine.’

And how many Georgetown students will abandon her classes, maybe call for a demonstration? That would be the same number of their parents who will say, “Sorry, kid, but I’m not paying for you to be taught anything by the likes of her.” Zero.

Outside of academia, a PhD is not called doctor. If the PhD is a professor at a university, the title of address to be used is professor, formally. Otherwise, Mr. and Ms (Is Mrs being used by any professional under 60 any longer?) Part of the subtle trickery being used on us all by the media is their constantly calling Ford “Dr. Ford.”

26Limabeans

I would address her as Maam.
And very politly at that.
Her head would explode.

SFC D

Bill Cosby was a PhD, often referred to as “Dr. Cosby”. That worked out well for him.

Commissioner Wretched

Cosby has the same degree I have … Ed.D., or Doctor of Education. I don’t expect anyone to address me as “Doctor.”
Now if I were still teaching, then yes, my students (and administrators) would address me as “Doctor,” because that’s the setting in which it would apply.

SFC D

Now that makes sense. It’s the proper honorific for the position. Doesn’t fit well outside of the classroom.

HMCS(FMF) ret

Same with “Dr.” Jill Biden… a Doctor of Education in educational leadership.

Ret_25X

most PhDs I meet I say something like, yes, I’d like the fries with that.

OWB

The one that really confuses me is a nurse with a doctorate. A neighbor legitimately has one of those, plus a few extras in silly stuff like chemistry, holds a very high position with a medical delivery company and is subject to being referred to regularly in the press. They always call her Dr. As perhaps they should. She also frequently makes it very clear that she is NOT an MD.

Then there are the pharmacists with doctorates in pharmacology.

Does anyone call a guy with a JD “Doctor?”

2/17 Air Cav

Does anyone call a guy with a JD “Doctor?” Anyone with a JD who wants to be called doctor better damn well have a medical degree too. Even in law school, law professors are called professor, Mr or Ms. However, if you like, you may address me as Dr. 2/17.

OWB

Dr AC will have to do since it requires one less key stroke or two. Which is obviously important.

Or not.

rgr769

I always thought putting Esq. after our names was as silly as saying we are “doctors” because we have a J.D. degree.

OWB

So the guys who are an MD first, practice medicine for a few years then go to law school to eventually practice medical law should correctly be addressed as Dr. XyZ, Esq.?

FuzeVT

One of my daily podcasts is Andrew Klavan. I heard on his show (can’t remember if it is his quote or if he was quoting someone else) something akin to ‘[Conservative’s] nut jobs are in the comment section; their nut jobs are running their political party.’

Roh-Dog

Sick burn.
When Mad (Sad) Max Waters advocated for ‘pushing’ on political foes AFTER the shooting of Scalise, her minions have gone after Republicans a’plenty.
In the same time period, how many rightleaners have gone after libs?
I’m getting dizzy being this high up on the moral high ground.

Roh-Dog

That old saw about, “I might not agree with what you say…”
Addendum: “but I may hate-fap while you get your teeth kicked in for being a douche”
YMMV

OWB

There really should be no surprise that targeting children is a lefty tactic. After all, they include NAMBLA among their special interest groups.

Yeah, all ‘yall lefties, keep doing this sort of thing. Each time you do you educate more ordinary Americans to your depths of depravity.

Roh-Dog

Precisely!
That, ‘criminal justice reform’ that includes child rapists, Podesta and the hot tub… the sick bastards also want to be able to give children sex hormones to ‘fix’ their gender identity issues (thereby rendering the child sterile)

A Proud Infidel®™

According to liberals if a girl sees a penis at a party, that’s a sex offense but if she sees a penis in a Women’s public restroom it’s “Diversity”.

Roh-Dog

Also, if the woman who is victimized could be the product of ‘dragging a dollar through a trailer park’ it’s acceptable for her to be made a victim.
Man, it’s hard to keep the rules straight.

OldSoldier54

“Man, it’s hard to keep the rules straight.”

No kidding.

OWB

Yep. If you are the right kind of guy (and who knows what that is exactly) then it’s not only OK but encouraged that you display your wares in public.

Wonder how far one would get by calling the popo if you happen to find yourself at a pride parade and claim sexual assault for having seen something? Anything??

Hmmm. Might be worth considering. Might get together a group of real women just to see what might happen if they did such a thing. It would at least be pretty entertaining.

rgr769

In the San Fransicko, exposed penises are OK in public. Just google Folsom Street Fair and peruse Zombie’s photos of this annual public event.

A Proud Infidel®™

It’s been said that watching the Clarence Thomas Confirmation hearings turned Andrew Breitbart from a liberal into a Conservative, I wonder how much that’s been happening with other people throughout the Kavenaugh fiasco? Do we ever see liberals acting like anything other than spoiled little sniveling PUNKS anymore?

5jc

I think it is turning liberals in to crazier liberals. Once he gets confirmed I predict head explosions around the nation. Ok, mostly focused on the coasts but you know what I mean.

A Proud Infidel®™

Oh, I’m sure of that as well, but I’m sure it’s also made far, far more leave the D-rat party!

If was going to send anything to someone who pissed me off, it’d be this: https://www.skdtac.com/skd-bag-of-dicks-p/skd.808.htm

Dave Hardin

These would be perfect Dicks if they had the “Made in America” maga seal of approval.

NDHoosier

Even better – gummi candies shaped like dicks.

https://dicksbymail.com/

Now your favorite jackwagon really can go eat a bag of dicks!

Ex-PH2

How about patronizing a bakery that will make frosted dick cookies? Send a box of them to your favorite idiot, like maybe some quacking dingaling in Congress and tell her it’s your gift to her, because you admire her forthright approach to political opponents.

Mason

Is that glitter bomb company still around? I think I’d like to send glitter bombs to all my enemies.

Reverend Pointy Head

I condone the bag of dicks as they are at least edible. More of a sporting “Ha ha, get it?” sort of thing.

However, for a select few that need their bridge burned; this is more appropriate:

Poetrooper

Right on, Reverend–just make sure the glitter is red so they know who they pissed off.

Mason

That’s the exact one I was thinking of, but it’ll do!

Now, to convert it to blow bed bugs all over to be really mean-spirited. 😀

What.a.f’ng.slimy.twisted.sick.assinine.piece.of.shit. Bastard might could of got away with that if he had of captioned it something like this. “Is this what will need to happen for the lib howler monkeys to accept da Judge” Rot and die in hell turd.

MrBill

Not surprisingly our old pal Gersh Kuntzman thinks this cartoon is perfectly fine. Look at his Twitter feed if you’re so inclined, but I don’t want to link to it.

timactual

I do not see what all the outrage is about. I see the cartoon as a comment on the people who would victimize a young girl by causing her to think her father is “a lying….”. Even liberals can have a sense of decency; I know a few.

So, until I see some actual evidence of a malevolent intent I will continue to see it that way.

2/17 Air Cav

The cartoon depicts Judge Kavanaugh’s 10-year old daughter calling her own Dad a liar, an alcoholic, and a sex offender and you don’t see what pisses people off about that? You want to see “actual evidence of a malevolent intent.” This will come as a shock to you, I’m sure, but intent isn’t always evidenced but a declaration preceding a given bad act. In fact, it rarely is. Instead, it is usually inferred.

timactual

Perhaps I wasn’t clear. When I look at a cartoon I expect to see irony, sarcasm, etc. Not something to be taken literally.

Who put those thought in her head? Certainly not her parents. Certainly not something she personally observed. Perhaps it was some Senator or pundit she heard on TV?

” Instead, it is usually inferred.”

That’s kind of like an assumption, isn’t it? Even so, why is your inference more correct than mine?

At any rate, the cartoon reminded me of a bible verse; Matthew 18:6

Good News Translation
“If anyone should cause one of these little ones to lose his faith in me, it would be better for that person to have a large millstone tied around his neck and be drowned in the deep sea.”

2/17 Air Cav

I can’t even begin to respond to that.

Ex-PH2

What makes you think, timactual, that the girl even said anything like that?

It’s a cartoon. The malevolence comes from the cartoonist, not from the girl, you numbskull.

timactual

“What makes you think, timactual, that the girl even said anything like that?”

“When I look at a cartoon I expect to see irony, sarcasm, etc. Not something to be taken literally.”

“…NOT SOMETHING TO BE TAKEN LITERALLY.”

So what point do you think the cartoon’s creator was trying to make?

“I can’t even begin to respond to that.”

Perhaps you could start by answering my question “why is your inference more correct than mine?”.

timactual

“The malevolence comes from the cartoonist, not from the girl,”

Thanks for the tip. I have so much trouble parsing reality.

“you numbskull.”

“…by a declaration…”

2/17 Air Cav

Okay, timactual, I’ll try, but I’m confident I won’t succeed. You ask why my inference is more correct than yours. The problem with that question is twofold. First, you think an assumption and an inference are synonymous. They are not. I would hope that you would seek to learn to distinguish between them but that’s your decision. Your not knowing the difference between the two terms precludes any meaningful discussion in which they are used. Put another way, if I want to talk about a quillywot and you think a quillywot is a pumpkin, well, it’s just not going to work out. Second, I drew no inference at all and, consequently, there can be no comparing or contrasting mine from yours.

timactual

“Okay, timactual, I’ll try,…
You ask why my inference is more correct than yours.”

And then you don’t try. Instead you proceed to quibble about definitions. Since I seem to think the words are interchangeable, it seems to me the smart thing to do is assume I meant “assumption” instead of “inference”. Try it that way.

Again, how about this one–
“So what point do you think the cartoon’s creator was trying to make?”
