Pakistan not getting $300 million and Palestinian refugee agency gets funding cut off entirely.

| September 3, 2018

The Trump administration is cutting funding to Paki and Palestinian groups.  I guess President Trump is expecting something in return for that cash or doesn’t support their efforts in the first place.

The US military says it is cancelling $300m (£230m) in aid to Pakistan over what it calls Islamabad’s failure to take action against militant groups. President Donald Trump has previously accused Pakistan of deceiving the US while receiving billions of dollars. Pentagon spokesman Lt Col Koné Faulkner said the US military would aim to spend the money on other “urgent priorities”.

The move, which needs to be approved by the US Congress, is part of a broader suspension announced in January.  The US state department has criticised Pakistan, a key ally, for failing to deal with terrorist networks operating on its soil, including the Haqqani network and the Afghan Taliban.

“We continue to press Pakistan to indiscriminately target all terrorist groups,” Col Faulkner said in a statement on Saturday, adding that the $300m aid – which had earlier been suspended – should be used elsewhere due to “a lack of Pakistani decisive actions” in tackling the issue.

The announcement comes just days before US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is due to visit Pakistan to meet the country’s new prime minister, Imran Khan.

The US and others have long complained that Pakistan provides a safe haven to militant networks, allowing them to carry out cross-border attacks in Afghanistan – something that Islamabad denies.

The news is even worse for the poor plight of the Palestinians.

The poor children…think of the poor childern.

The US and Israel also disagree with Unrwa on which Palestinians are refugees with a right to return to the homes they fled following the 1948 war.

Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the UN, said earlier this week that Unrwa exaggerated the number of Palestinian refugees, and needed to reform.

“You’re looking at the fact that, yes, there’s an endless number of refugees that continue to get assistance, but more importantly, the Palestinians continue to bash America,” she said.

The state department says the US is contributing a “very disproportionate share of the burden of Unrwa’s costs”.

It complains of a business model and fiscal practices, linked to an “exponentially expanding community of entitled beneficiaries”, which is “unsustainable and has been in crisis mode for many years”.

I appears as if President Trump doesn’t want to give money to people who attack our friends and slander our good deeds.  What will this administration do next?  These are crazy times.

If Pakistan does not get that money, how will they ever be able to afford the continued imprisonment of the doctor who helped locate Osama Bin Ladin?

desert

Right On! Lowlife Pakistani’s want our money then spit in our face by letting terrorists come out of Afghanistan and hide in shytsville pakistan! You need money, get it from your lying thieving govt..not OURS!

NHSparky

Guess the phone scammers are gonna have to work that much harder.

UpNorth

7-11 better start building more stores, so the Pakis can manage them.

Ex-PH2

Trump administration is not completely satisfied with the Paki government’s commitment to get rid of the Taliban, who use Pakistan as a sanctuary space.

In my view, since it’s tax money that was already collected, Congress could just return it to taxpayers in general, especially with elections coming up in a couple of months. $1.50 would go a long way toward buying a loaf of bread or a bag of mixed beans for bean soup. Throw us a bone or something – preferably a ham bone.

MSG Eric

I’m sure they’ll do that right after they vote for term limits in Congress and stop taking money from lobbyists.

Ex-PH2

Thank you for your vote of confidence!

Without all of this funding, how are they ever going to pay for the bash the USA signs, the thousands of AK 47 rounds fired into the air, the American Flags that are burned every day, the death to America rallies? All of this cutting of “foreign aid” is a real good start. Now if we could just clean up that money pit called the UN.

RetiredDevilDoc8404

They could start by putting the boot on all the cars of UN diplomats with outstanding parking violations owed to NYC. The diplomats might have immunity, the cars don’t…if they don’t want to pay collect the monies due NYC and take it from the US contribution to UN funding. Call it a nuisance tax for them. Maybe Pyongyang might be interested in hosting the UN… Fatty Kim might have a unique solution to diplomats thumbing their nose at laws.

Commissioner Wretched

Well, that big pyramid-shaped hotel in Pyongyang *is* sitting there empty …

A Proud Infidel®™

NOT a bad idea at all!!

UpNorth

Skip the boot, start impounding the cars. NYC could set a limit, say, $100. If a government owes more than $100, the cars on the list get hauled if they’re found on a public street.

desert

Then SOLD and the money goes in the general fund….! NOT IN CUOMO’S pocket! imo

The Stranger

The pack of starving dogs? The anti-aircraft round to the chest? The sighted-in mortar on a stake in a field? Yes, yes, and yes!

desert

yes!!!

OWB

Gee whiz. You’d think that they expect us to continue supporting their efforts to cut our throats or something.

Another of those things which is not nearly as complicated as some would have us believe. Any sovereign nation can support whoever they want to support. We do not have to fund anything much less that which is not in our national interest. Supporting terrorists and those who support terrorists is not in our national interest.

Mason

Anyone against this should just be reminded that the PA recently reconfirmed their commitment to paying salaries to the families of terrorists.

Tony180A

This is nothing new. Our ally Saudi Arabia has been paying money to the families of Palestinians killed in the Intefada for decades.

poor Pakistanis and Palestinians…poor babies. Will no one in the USA give them succor in their plight? Will the world turn a blind eye to their terrorism, murder, hate and uselessness to mankind?

How can Trump be so cruel as to not pay them American taxpayer’s money to murder, maim, and terrorize? And who will smarmy jack off journalists turn to for pay offs and corrupt favors?

Mason

About damn time.

To prove it’s the right decision, Abbas and Soros strongly condemn cutting funding.

When Cannon started making towels there the quality went to hell. Six months max out of a towel that used to last years. The dye comes out in the wash forever and the lint sets the dryer on fire.
I’ll bet their nukes don’t work either.
India? ya hear that?

HMC Ret

At one time Cannon made among the best towels, sheets and other items that could be bought. Today, not so much. Stuff turns threadbare in short order. Instead of absorbing liquids, it’s so threadbare that it simply pushes the liquid around. Save a few bucks in labor costs; produce a crappy product; put thousands of American workers out of jobs; further destruction of the U.S. economy. Great sadness. I go out of my way to buy American made products, even if substantially more. Problem is, it’s increasingly difficult to find American products.

26Limabeans

To be fair, I was in a T-shirt store on Cape of the Cod last summer and bought some nice quality shirts. Everything in the store was made in Pakistan including the cute sales help.

HMC Ret

If you’re willing to pay approximately $10 each for really thick, 100% soft cotton men’s undershirts, you can’t beat Penney’s. BTW, they are ALWAYS on sale. Although a little on the pricy side, they wear like iron and I’m wearing undershirts that I have had for a decade. They are almost indestructible. For men’s short/long sleeve casual and dress shirts, go for the Penney’s Stafford brand. You simply can not beat JCP clothing.

HMC Ret

The $10 price is the sale price. Regular price is $15-$20 each, but are frequently on sale.

HMC Ret

Thank you President Trump for withholding money from these bastards. I’m sure the liberal slime will howl bloody murder about how unfair this is, blah, blah. My question is, how is it unfair to withhold OUR money from any country for any reason. It’s OUR money. They don’t deserve a dime. Fuck you, Soros. You’re pond scum. This is a good beginning. I would eventually enjoy seeing all but a few cut off. We owe them squat.

HMC Ret

I see protestors in the above picture holding signs shaming the US. Apparently there are freeloaders everywhere, living in mommy’s basement and not bathing. The protestors should get a job and improve their nation’s economy. Then they wouldn’t need to suck money from us. Screw them. WTF is wrong with us? When will be abandon the idea that if only we give enough money to others, they will eventually stop hating us. Ain’t never going to happen so we might as well cut them off.

A Proud Infidel®™

WHAT? President Trump has stopped handing out money to the Paleoswinians, the ones who danced for joy and celebrated 9/11 handing candy to their kids along with the Pakistanis who spit on us every time our backs are turned? I’m cool with that, how soon do we start cutting back on or stopping the money flow to the United Nothing? I say evict ’em off of US Soil, make them move to Geneva and President Trump can redevelop that property beginning in January 2025!

timactual

Before we get too uppity with Pakistan (and Russia), this might be of some concern.

Maybe we’ll just have to go through Iran. 😉

5th/77thFA

Or maybe just pull the fuck out of there. just saying.

Mason

I’m all for letting the goat humpers have that s-hole back. I just don’t want it to return to funding/training terrorism, which seems likely since that’s what they do when we’re still there.

Just think, 17 years after we invaded (West) Germany they were making some of the most iconic cars of the mid-century, like the Porsche 356 and Mercedes 300 SL. Seventeen years after we conquered Japan they were laying the groundwork to dominate the electronic and automotive industries. Goes to show the different mentalities of the people we’re dealing with. They can’t wait to run back into the arms of an authoritative Sharia overlord instead of taking the hand of freedom when it came.

Do like me and proselytize The Great Flying Spaghetti Monster to them, I now have it down to the point where they tell me to FOAD after the first fifteen to thirty seconds!

The Stranger

What I do now is I pick up the call and say nothing. If it’s automated I hang up. If it’s a live person, they’ll do a tentative hello after 10 seconds or so, then I tell them to fuck off and die and hang up. If others are around, I put it on speaker.

2/17 Air Cav

China, India, Pakistan…They taught the rabbits. Jeez. Those people like to screw.

A Proud Infidel®™

Yeah, but Pakistan is like the rest of the ME where adult males consider each other and animals for recreation and Women are strictly for reproduction.

Tony180A

One thing that I did find consistent no matter what city I ended up working out of in Pakistan. The crazies would show up daily around 0900 and proceed to the protest area near the Embassy or Consulate to yell, chant, sing scream, burn tires, barrels etc.

Literally the minute the loonies arrive the Paki Civil Armed Forces show up too. They consisted primarily of Punjab and Sindh Rangers. They would disembark their distinctive blue buses complete with dozens of approx 8ft bamboo canes strapped to the top and proceed to whip the living dog shit out of any Great Satan Hater who got the fever to cross that line.

Then they’d call a truce for noon prayers. The Crazies, The Punjab Rangers or the Sindh Rangers would pray together, eat together, take a lil siesta then start, burning, screaming and caning until the Asr prayer. Just after the Maghrib prayer the crazies would voluntarily disperse and the Civil Armed Forces would secure bamboo canes load the blue bus of pain and vamoose until the following morning. The RSO at the consulute in Lahore would take a swig from his flask then look at me and say, “remember, these fuckers have nukes”.

Burma Bob

Will we be reducing the amount of cash sent to Israel every year? You know, the $30 billion Netanyahu demanded from congress a few years back, when he showed up in DC uninvited?

The whole mess is one we created when we recognized the state of Israel and sold out the people who were originally on the lands (including a large number of Christians. Since then Israel has pretty much been calling the shots in the US government.

If this is all part of Kushner’s big peace plan, the Palestinians aren’t in on the joke.

OWB

How could Christians be among those originally on the land? And just what are you considering “originally” anyway??

Burma Bob

Coptic, Maronite, Chaldean, Armenian Christians, dating from the earliest days of the church. Ethnically they are of course Arabs. The Israelis crush them all the same, especially if they are occupying a piece of land Israelis want for their settlements. People forget that Palestine was not all Jewish in BC.. And when the Jewish diaspora started after 70 AD, these people had no reason to decamp along with them. From 70 AD until the early 1900’s these people were pretty settled, albeit riled a bit with succeeding waves of Franks, Turks, Egyptians, etc.

OWB

So you aren’t even considering original occupation to begin until Christianity was invented? Is whatever you are using to define “original” any less arbitrary than one others might use?

You sure are conveniently forgetting a few significant issues in your summary.

2/17 Air Cav

BB. You have a distorted take on several matters. First, the Netanyahu visit to which you refer was not w/o invitation. The then-Speaker of the House invited him. The then-president, what’s-his-name, the Red Line guy, did not. In diplomatic circles, that is frowned upon, just as a host who abandons his invited guest in order to ‘go have dinner’ with the host’s immediate family is rude; just as the Red Line guy snubbed him privately, he also snubbed Israel publicly when he chose not to block a UN resolution condemning Israel. Second, I’m not at all certain what demand for 30 billion you wrote about. Could it be the 38 billion in military aid that our gov’t approved? Is that the “demand” or is there some other? Third, you say that “the whole mess is one we created….” You enjoy rewriting history, don’t you? And while I’m at it, I await your evidence that Merril’s Marauders were “low IQ” recruits for that special unit and mission.

Is a good place for you to start. I can supply a lengthier bibliography of the whole campaign, including memoirs.

https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/4277450.pdf is the dissertation that was condensed into a more recent book on OSS Det 101, and it’s valuable as it provides some material not in the book.

Enjoy the read.

“the people who were originally on the lands”

The Caananites?

Being a nominal Christian myself, I would certainly rather live in a Jewish state than a Muslim one. I am sure the few surviving Christians in the Middle East would agree.

Burma Bob

Correct. So…an ethnic group blows out for 1800+ years, then comes back and wants what it considers its land back. What would the US government do in the case where the Cherokee present a claim for the Carolinas?

26Limabeans

“What would the US government do in the case where the Cherokee present a claim for the Carolinas?”

Probably pay them off like they did with the Penobscots in Maine a few decades ago. They still want that casino though.

I say the U.S. shout quit the U.N. entirely.
Then we should boot the U.N. out of America.
Let them park illegally in Brussels or Shanghai!
