Rep. Duncan Hunter, wife; indicted

| August 22, 2018

Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., and his wife, Margaret, were indicted on charges of illegally converting $250,000 in campaign funds for personal expenses and filing false records, prosecutors announced Tuesday.

In response, House Speaker Paul Ryan said Tuesday evening that he would remove the congressman from all committee assignments for the time being, calling the charges against Hunter “deeply serious.”

Among the allegations named in the 48-page indictment included instances between 2009 and 2016 when Hunter and his wife used campaign funds to pay for family vacations to Italy and Hawaii, school tuition, dental work, and even domestic and international travel for almost a dozen relatives, according to a press release from the Southern District of California’s U.S. Attorney’s Office.

I doubt the days of taking are over. Greed is as old as man, no surprise. Drain the swamp.

Doesn’t he still currently serve in the USMC Reserves? If the indictments have merit, this is bitterly disappointing.

A Proud Infidel®™

I like to think “Innocent until proven guilty” so ditto on what GDC said. He’s Republican and Pro-Trump so thus he’s automatically guilty as hell in most of the media’s eyes.

Dave Hardin

Duncan was born with a silver spoon up his ass, the only thing he ever accomplished on his own worth noting was getting an EGA.

He has spent a considerable amount of time pissing on it. Nothing is done by him unless it is about him, the gutless pick hides behind his female staffers.

This is only the beginning, life sucks when you go out of your way to piss off the wrong people.

HMCS(FMF) ret

I wonder if his old man is wearing his ass out over this?

Dave Hardin

His father taught him everything there is to know about corruption. Sadly we need to give this seat to some Liberal Commie.

Mason

His leading opponent is a blood descendant of the Palestinian terrorists that did the Munich Olympics in ’72.

When you spend political contributions for dental work and call it a contribution to some dental charity, you’re either as lame as they come or so corrupt and arrogant you just don’t give a shit.

Dad’s wearing his dumb ass out for getting caught…

^this^^this^and^this^ If he is guilty, lock him up with Wide Load McCankles Pant Suit. Would that be cruel and unusual punishment? Would IDC-SARC take one for the Team TAH and comfort Mrs. H? Or, would Hitlery confess so she could be cell mates with Mrs. H? Asking for a friend. DRAIN THE SWAMP!

2/17 Air Cav

Two points. First, assuming he’s guilty, he’s another example of honorable military service meaning only that the character of service was honorable. Second, and in the same vein, just because a Marine, soldier, airman, or sailor was good at being a Marine, soldier, airman, or sailor doesn’t necessarily mean he is good at anything else. And I’ll toss in a third. If a person is a politician and in office more than a single term, he is in some way, shape, or form corrupt. Do I really believe that? Absolutely I do.

Ex-PH2

Maybe it’s time states inflicted term limits on political people.

Instead of having statesmen who really do care about doing a good job, we have a population of parasites who are only in it for the money+power combo, as if there is nothing else in the world.

Of course, term limits might not work, either. Look at the Kennedy clan and that bunch from Arkansas.

I’m tired of them, as are a lot of other people. Fire them. Fire them all. Start over.

Note: not saying they’re all bad, but the bad ones give the rest a sordid association.

Mason

Term limits would be good, but don’t seemed to have helped California. Funny though that everyone who campaigns on term limits or campaigns saying they’ll only serve one or two terms never leave office. “Too much work left to do” or some other sorry excuse for a lack of integrity.

SFC D

Orrin Hatch ran on a term limit promise. In 1976, Hatch said that his predecessor had been in office too long, with 18 years in office and had lost touch with his constituents. Hatch has been in office for 41 years and has lost touch with most of reality.

MSG Eric

These days I’d say it only takes about a month for members of Congress to lose touch with reality if they even had a feel of it before they got into the office.

Ex-PH2

Well, you know – “term limits” was just an idea, and it really only works on presidents, anyway.

No, I think assassination might be a better choice. Stay more than two terms and face the Praetorian Guard’s disposal methodology. That would work for me. /sarc.

Don’t forget the automatic retirement and the health benefits! too many will do anything, say anything to get that! Do away with the retirement, only give them basic health while in office and like everyone else, when they leave the job they leave the health insurance! imho

Fyrfighter

Well, this situation here is a perfect example of th difference between those of us on the right, and the leftists.. (Not the politicians, as noted above, time in the whorehouse on the Potomac seems to lead to corruption in all) The difference being that we believe in “innocent until proven guilty” and just as important, without exception, noone here has tried to excuse the behavior, if it’s proven true. EVERY one of us would see him thrown out and locked up for his crimes, IF proven guilty, whereas the left would close ranks, and do all they can to provide cover for criminals with a “D” after their names (see sharpton, et al.)

Ex-PH2

Oh, hey! Lizzie “notaninjun” Warren wants to put a stop to former congress critters, presidents and other officials in The Swamp from working as lobbyists.
If she gets that kind of thing passed, what’s she gonna do when she loses her current job?

Mason

Like wideload before her, I think she just assumes that she’ll be President from 2020-2028, then move on to designing her library, speaking engagements, and book tours.

Buckeye Jim

In her case, she will go back to “work” in academia where she will always be a hero

A Proud Infidel®™

Will she continue to use her BOGUS claim of American Indian Heritage to push her way ti the front of the line?

Poetrooper

Yup, she’ll go back to that cozy deal she has with Harvard, teaching one class a week for a mere $300,000 per annum.

Must be some class, huh?

MSG Eric

Wasn’t that per “class” not annually?

26Limabeans

Use her security clearance to line her pockets.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

If he were a Dem, we would not have heard about this.

Poetrooper

If he were a Dem, the prosecutors wouldn’t have waited until it was too late to field a suitable replacement candidate before the upcoming election. I won’t defend this bastard, who has let us all down, but the timing of this stinks to high heaven.

A Proud Infidel®™

Drudge Report and Fox would likely report it but yes, the rest of the DNC Pravda mess media would censor it.

2/17 Air Cav

The supporting information for the indictments related that the happy couple overdrew their checking account 1,100 times over seven years and incurred over $37,000 in penalties and fees. They maxed out their credit cards and incurred over $24,000 in interest and fees related to late, over-the-limit, and returned-payment fees. So, there you go. They spent beyond their means and they needed money. And since she was his campaign manager, voila! The recitation of allegations is unbelievable to read. When the Hunters went on vacation to Italy, Margaret called the Navy to try to cover the family fun trip as military related. She was told that the date she was trying to arrange for Duncan to visit was unavailable and reportedly told the chief of staff that the Navy can go F itself. What a piece of work. A US congressman who taps out his bank acct by withdrawing $20 from an ATM has a problem. Cripes.

HMCS(FMF) ret

Sounds like financial management was not high on the list of practices in the Hunter household.

And the missus… she sounds like a real power hungry cunt.

A Proud Infidel®™

It sounds like the Missus is a 24K Gold Digger and overdrawn 1,100 TIMES over seven years? Holy sheep shit, an Enlisted knuckle dragging ape like me would lose his Security Clearance at the drop of a hat for far less than that!!

Ex-PH2

1,100 times? That sounds like a personal record of some kind. I feel inadequate in the face of such – well, stupidity. I haven’t had an overdraft in something like uh…. hmmm…. ummmm…. I don’t know when. Might have been high school.

Mason

7 years * 365 = 2,555 days (plus one or two for leap years) / 1100 = 2.3.

They were overdrafting three times a week! How? Just how?

IF he’s guilty, I hope he spends years in the slammer, preferable with Bubba. Wonder what gang he will align himself with if he goes to prison? Maybe the skinheads. F’em.

Drain the swamp and refill with people of high moral standards.

Mr. “Tiny” is gonna get first dibs on the Rep.

As for the wife, she’d be the perfect bride for “Strap-on” Sally…

A Proud Infidel®™

Hate to tip your Apple Cart but if he and his missus get convicted they’ll likely get a cushy stay at some “Club Fed”. His Military Career will however go straight down the shitpipe!

MSG Eric

He should’ve already lost his security clearance for being so massively in debt. No clearance as a commissioned officer means you cannot be a commissioned officer.

Yeah, he’s not lasting long in uniform regardless of how this trial goes.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Like so many others who get elected honorable service is no indicator of honorable activities afterwards.

He joins many others who lose themselves in DC

Shades of Randy Duke Cunningham, think Cunningham was imprisoned for taking bribes. This link shows billboards around San Diego, one of these was located adjacent to I-15 near the exit to Fallbrook leading to Camp Pendleton. It was taken down a few months ago.
The article also says Darrell Issa is not defending his seat. To me, that info is a bigger story.
