Judge says Columbus city council bump stock ban is unconstitutional

| July 14, 2018

Franklin County, Ohio Judge David Cain ruled that the Columbus city council can’t write it’s own gun ban laws yesterday, according to 10TV News;

The Ohioans for Concealed Carry and the Buckeye Firearms Foundation sued over what the city has called ‘common sense’ gun laws.

“This is exactly what we expected,” Dean Rieck, Executive Director of Buckeye Firearms Association, said in a written statement.

“We told the city that it could not pass any gun laws. But they ignored us and did it anyway. This victory is not a surprise, but it should be a warning to other cities in Ohio. Buckeye Firearms Association will not tolerate infringements against the Second Amendment and will take action against any city that passes unconstitutional laws.”

In his decision, the judge compares bump stocks to spark plugs;

Personally, I wouldn’t own a bumpstock – I never fired my AR rifle on full-automatic while I was in the Army, except on the qualification range. I won’t waste ammunition now that I have to pay for it, either. But I wouldn’t ban the useless contraptions.

Hah! First it’s Deerfield, IL. Now it’s Columbus, OH, both begin given the ‘what for’ that they can’t do whatever they want to.

That noise you hear is heads exploding. Expect more of it.

Meantime, if you can’t afford a bump stock but you want to try it, get some heavy duty rubber bands, watch the videos on YouTube, and try it.

Personally, I kind of like the video that guy who tried to fire his rifle, couldn’t get it to fire at all, and looked down into the barrel to see what was in there, and the gun went off, grazing his stupid skull. That’s what you point to and tell your kids “Don’t be THAT guy”.

Hahahahahahaha! Gigglesnort.

They do love the term “common sense” which means anything they want it to.

Sure, I guess now an Uzi is considered a component to a stroller. What’s next Claymores for cribs?

The only common sense Gun Nutz have is related to trigger pull.

An M203 was a component to my M16 at one time…grenades are now legal?

I have killed 42 ants since summer started. Will that do, or should I kill more?

I’m just trying to meet your expectations.

Dave Hardin

The manner in which you killed them is all that matters. Try one of these…I have a blast with mine.

I spent all last week cleaning up my kitchen just to impress the fridge repairman, and you want me to spray stuff on ants.

I am the Fist of Doom, the Holy Flying Fickle Finger of Fate to those cursed 6-leggers with their nasty little wiggly antennae!

They skitter in terror when I approach. I killed 4 more just now.

I have chicken roasting in the kitchen. They will be crumpled by the heat of my oven if they approach it.

That chicks’s unnaturally white teeth scare me. Reminds me of the Halloween fake white vampire teeth inserts kids wear.

Bump stocks seem a great way to turn dollars into noise, but whatever floats their boats. At least the city council got their hands smacked.

Ex-PH2

Yes, but some people like the noise and the gunsmoke, AW1Ed. (Real Navy machine gunner did the shooting in this scene.)

AW1Ed

Impressive Thompson skills- was his name Roland, by chance?*grin*

What a great job, shooting live rounds at Hollywood actors. Too bad those days are long gone.

Too obscure? Here:

Common sense gun laws in liberal lingo means weapons confiscation from gun owners.

UpNorth

Exactly!!

rgr769

Most of them just won’t admit it, but they think only the police and criminals should have guns.

Why would a billboard blasting school need security?

2/17 Air Cav

Because billboard blasting is a very lonely enterprise and those who teach it are quite insecure. I hope that helped.

So I guees the VA would not loan money for the tutuion. Got it. Tanks.

I read the judge’s decision and, just to be clear, the unconstitutional aspect of the ordinance refers to the Ohio constitution. The municipality overstepped its bounds by passing an ordinance that conflicted with state law. Given the judge’s writing style, I’m surprised he didn’t finish his decision with, “Are you people stupid or what?”

It’s not just bumpstocks but rather binary triggers and basically any after market trigger. Bumpstocks allow non rich fucks to enjoy rapid fire. NFA automatics are insanely expensive due to government creating a fake market value due to outright bans. Bumpstock allow increased fire rates by following the law and simulation the experience of weapons costing 10’s of thousands of dollars. Same goes with binary triggers which simulate select burst fire. Then all of the aftermarket triggers which reduce trigger pull weights.

Fuck these little fiefdoms trying to usurp the civil rights of Americans.

I hate to have to say this, but President Trump has done more gun control in one year than President Obama was able to do in eight years.
He directed the department of justice to write regulations banning the use of bump stocks and all other rate increasing devices.
These regulations are right now in front of the office and management and budget and when they are approved they will go into affect
No action needed by congress.
Florida has already banned bump stocks and binary triggers.
Looks like the Columbus city Council is going to get what they want on the national level
