Fourth bomb in Austin injures two
Last week we talked about the three bombs which killed two people and injured two others. Yesterday, another bomb injured two other people. CNBC says that the bomb was left alongside a road and it was believed to be triggered by a trip wire.
Over 500 federal agents are involved in the investigation and authorities continue to ask the local community for assistance.
They are offering a reward of $115,000 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.
The bombings have also led to a surge in the number of suspicious packages reported in recent weeks. Police have responded to 735 related calls since the explosions were first reported at the start of this month.
From CNN;
None of the packages was delivered by the US Postal Service or delivery services like UPS or FedEx, police have said. All were placed in front of the residents’ houses in the overnight hours.

They need to send this guy to hell when they find him. A murderer and a coward.
!. Rope.
2. Tree or Gallows.
3. Bomber.
Some assembly required.
Just tie him up with arms outstretched, superglue a bomb to his hands, and let him know it is a motion activated shaped-charge explosive device aimed at him.
As long as he can hold it still in front of him, he lives. If his arms shake, he dies.
Everyone else is outside of blast range. How long he lives is up to him.
Poetic. I like it!
Still starving my sea creatures, API? #crablivesmatter!
*grin*
Hey, Vultures, Maggots and wild hogs gotta eat too, ya know!
Concur……….when they finally find him
perhaps we ought to bring back public
execution.
He made an adjustment since his MO was widely reported. Looking for a box? He won’t be using one. Looking for someone carrying a pkg in a residential neighborhood at night? Not gonna happen. He’s paying attention but he remains centralized, so it’s just a matter of time.
No surveillance cameras on the streets, then?
Those do help solve some crimes in Chicago.
Yes, nail him when he’s finally caught.
Ex-,
There are cameras. In shops, on traffic signals, every person with a Ring or one of those Nest things. In any urban environment nowadays it’s virtually impossible to move about without being captured on camera.
What’s most impressive is how this person is able to plant the devices and move about without being seen. Who knows what’s not being reported but right now it seems like there’s zero leads at all.
look for some of this to be copy-cat and hoax perpetration.
Yes, I see videos on the news of people stealing packages off front steps, but there seems to be no ID on the thieves.
Worst case scenario is this guy starts leaving “packages” in mailboxes right around the time the mail carrier has come and gone.
That’s about the only way they’ll catch this coward.
As a former 12B (well as much as a former as I can be), bombs have always worried me far more than guns do.
Contrary to reporting, bombs are fairly easy to make and very hard to trace. They can be rigged up and set off long after the guy who emplaced them is gone, complicating his capture even further. A single bomb has the potential to do far more damage than a single guy with a gun.
And unlike gun violence, a good guy in the right place at the right time can’t stop a guy with a bomb.
Just like arson, it’s the crime of a coward.
Well said.. though the cops down there confuse me a bit, talking about this bomb being more sophisticated that the others. In my experience, a trip wire is much simpler and easier than a tamper switch / motion trigger
Very true. Any halfway intellegent person with a grudge and mayhem in his heart can find all he needs in any hardware store.
Kids should immediately walk out of class and demand Congress ban bombs and Home Depot
I’ve yet to hear for anyone calling for Laws governing the registration, use and possession of pressure cookers after the Boston Marathon bombings!
If you think Mrs. Whitey will give up her pressure cooker, you better bring friends and they better come armed.
After the Marathon bombing, there were people tracking who bought pressure cookers and how many.
I don’t know whether or not that has died back, but a weapon can be made out of just about anything.
Sounds like Route Irish in the early days; pretty soon the commuters will be riding in Rhinos…
Irish, Husky, and Michigan….I hated traveling them with a passion.
I spent a lot of time on Michigan in 2004. I was augmenting 3/24 (a USMC Reserve Infantry Battalion) at the time and my platoon was detailed with external camp security at TQ. It got more worrisome when they started putting IEDs in trees.
I was always completely exhausted after every trip down Irish. Finally realized I was barely breathing the whole time.
I did many many convoys/trips on Irish. I was lucky; shit always happened before or after our convoy passed through…
So, you see (she explained to the dimwitted gun grabbers), it isn’t guns that are the problem. It is the people who misuse them.
Yeah, where are the proglodytes screeching for Bomb Control Laws? IIIIIT’S FOR THE CHIIIIIILLLDREN!!!
Surprised we haven’t seen the left speculating this is some radicalized right wing PTSD-crazed EOD tech…another McVeigh of sorts…we’ve already seen much earlier “we can’t rule out a hate crime” which means “white”
They changed that when there was a victim of another ethnicity.
Started as “targeting people of color” and swiftly changed when the latest victims were both white. The police chief there is a talking head who contradicts himself trying to twist the facts to fit his theory du jour, a Democrat functionary to the core.
“The device’s success, despite sigificantly different design, further suggests that the bommaker behind these attacks is an accomplished one, and has likely to have recieved some training, perhaps as a military or police explosive ordance disposal technician”. CNN

You called it.
The basics of manufacture and of employment are widely available online. I recall reading several military manuals and civilian books on the topic in the eighties. The “art” has only grown since then.
This dingleberry in Austin is pretty cagey. The copycats will start popping up unless this critter gets caught.
Rendering an area ungovernable is insurgency 101. Bombs are old-school “FU” to the authorities.
Remember what two dickheads managed to accomplish in Metro DC with just a rifle, a car, and a plan?
This almost feels like an amateur trying to start a larger upheaval.
“Remember what two dickheads managed to accomplish in Metro DC with just a rifle, a car, and a plan?”
Vividly. I was taking a rental car to Reagan National Airport during their spree- my usual habit was to stop in Crystal City and refuel the car, ’cause the rental company will rape you in fuel charges.
I let the company pay the charge, that time, and drove straight through to the airport.
Random attacks on random targets will make it difficult to find the person doing this.
too late…the POC are already calling it a “raysis serial killer” on the lefty boards
Yeah, that stopped when two victims were white. Try harder.
I was wrong on this.
Most multiple bomb incidents are solved quickly.
The signature of the bomb maker is in the bomb.
We have a local Unibomber type on our hands.
Clearly no known signatures on the bombs.
The bomber seemingly now will continue, until he makes a mistake, then he will be caught.
I don’t think the victims is a key either…or if it is, the commonality is not obvious.
But there are many who are just sure it is “red necks” motivated by raysism.
If race was the real motivation, one might expect an easier investigation as that is a pool of people given to running their mouths…
Another Millennial gone Crazy
Ah, no!
That suspect would have sploded oneself in parent’s basement due to iPhone interruptions.
This one has experience and has been working on HIS plan for a long time.
Look at profiles of serial killers and bombers, age is smack in a sweet spot.
Back in 1968, when movies were still shot in black & white, there was a movie titled “Panic In the City”, with Howard Duff as a NBI agent who uncovers a plan by a crazy man to detonate a nuke in the city of Los Angeles, while the agent is investigating the death of a nuclear physicist.
It was a good movie, very straightforward and none of that nonsensical relationship stuff that distracts from the stories now.
Considering everything, doing something like that is entirely possible. It used to be (in the 1950s and 1960s)that you could find instructions on building a nuke at the library.
This explosives guy is up to something besides just improvised explosives. (Okay, I’ve been reading too many Ludlum/Follett novels.)
Anybody knows the current whereabouts of Clockmed the Clockboy?
I’m just sayin…
He lost his daddy’s lawsuit. Different city.
Almost all the “usual suspects” make rather prompt and specific declarations. The message is often more important than the mayhem. It is expressly “Fear -us-.”
This dingleberry is not sending any message beyond “boom, you are dead”.
If dingleberry had used a knife, garrote, or gun, we would be talking classic ” serial killer”. Those critters usually like anonymity and stealth.
Absent any political or hate message, I think this one is just that, a serial killer with a thing for noise.
And that will make it a bitch to catch dingleberry.
…
Ok. Movie version? Some good ol’ boy with a CCW observes Dingleberry planting a bomb, draws a careful bead on the bomb, and shoots it. Dingleberry thus gets fragged with his own boomstuff. G.O.B. shrugs, spits some chaw, and goes about his business. Police are baffled as to whodunit, dubbing the anonymous hero “beechnut boy”.
And another one goes boom, this time inside a FedEx hub outside San Antonio.

A 6th explosion in Austin just reported.
The 5th explosion was at a San Antonio Fed Ex terminal on a conveyor belt. A 6th package was discovered at another Fed Ex terminal in Austin.
An “incendiary device” of some kind, not a bomb, at a Goodwill store was dropped by accident and ignited. Not connected to the other stuff.
Goodwill apparently received a donated artillery simulator, and someone handled it.

(Yup. Same story as my below post)
So that goblin is assuming room temperature, one less punk being fed, clothed and housed at taxpayer expense. The article says he detonated two more bombs while being chased, let’s hope he’s the only one doing that shit!
FNC & CNN report from local affiliates that the bombing suspect was shot dead by police. More to come for sure.
Fox:

Coward.
And now he is experiencing an eternal “incendiary device”.
He self splodied it is now reported. Next item.
From terror bomber to splodeydope, Good Riddance.
Oh, that’s too bad. I had hoped he’d be found and pounded before he was impounded. Instead, he fragged himself. Bummer.
