Spc. Basar Bozdogan and Pfc. Jacob Krajnik saving the world
AW1Edsends a link to the Army Times that reports on two soldiers assigned to 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado. Specialist Basar Bozdogan and Private First Class Jacob Krajnik who had heroically volunteered to drive intoxicated soldiers back from their night on the town last September. When a soldier cancelled his call for them, they came across a three-car accident.
The soldiers assisted the motorists from their cars, but there was one person who was unable to move.
“At first, I didn’t want to move him because he looked like he was injured pretty badly,” [Krajnik] said.
That’s when Krajnik saw the flames under the vehicle.
“It started to get bigger really fast,” he said. “I screamed to Bozdogan and yelled that the vehicle is catching on fire.”
The soldiers flung open the door, removed the injured man’s seatbelt and carried him to safety. As they were carrying him away, the car caught on fire.
“If we would’ve waited longer, it would’ve been a devastating situation,” Krajnik said. “He could’ve also suffered burn injuries, or even died.”
The Army Times says that the pair have been nominated for the Soldiers Medal for their heroism, but they don’t think they’re heroes;
“I joined the Army to save lives here and abroad,” Bozdogan said. “It doesn’t matter where I’m at, I just have that instinct to react when I see someone who needs help. It’s not all about being a hero. It’s about making a split-second decision at the right moment to ensure the safety of others.”

Well, I guess it is a bit heroic to volunteer to be the designated driver to a bunch of drunken soldiers 🙂
For two years I was a designated driver to the local Rangers. Yep, Heroic pretty well describes it. Trying to stand between them and those who provoked them got a little hairy once. But, I would rather do that than attend a damned Memorial Service.
It’s worse if it’s drunken Marines or Bosuns Mates and Gunners Mates.
Snipes usually take the paddy wagon.
Not to take away from these men, but this is also important…and could be life saving! Anyone here that served on ships can be of huge help to all blue water Navy veterans, this organization has been fighting to get the VA to approve veterans that contacted Agent Orange while aboard ship…all agent orange was brought over by ships!
Blue Water Navy has already helped in getting hypertension recognized, but there is still a long way to go, to join is only 9.97 a year they are striving for 1000 to be recognized as a Veterans Service Organization, the following is an email to me from the National Commander, I would appreciate it if you would at least consider it!

Remember we are trying to grow OUR Association with the goal of becoming a certified Veteran Service Organization and the ability to request the VA to recognize us as a National Veterans Service Organization. To do this we need over 1000 due paying Members. So we ask your help in making Our Association achieve this.
This is the year for The Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans.
Please Support the Blue Water Navy Surge.
Job Well Done to those two soldiers.
Brings back memories of my old outfit there at Carson where I spent 11 of my 20 years in the Army. One Soldier is a Bradley Driver and the other is a PLL Parts Clerk.
Now, to the Army Times/Editor/Journalist: Could you have picked a shabbier looking Soldiers Medal to show in the article? It (the medal) looks like it is old enough to have been the first medal ever manufactured. Shame on you.
When you read about or see snowflakes out there you give thinks that these kids are the future leaders of America and not the douche donut scrawny mixed gender morons.
They are just the noisiest and thereby attract the most attention.
Nice work, gentlemen. I spent many nights as sober driver. That in itself is deserving of commendation.
Way to go gents. You make us all shine.
Nice grab Soldiers.
Good job there Soldiers. Proud of you both.
PFC Krajnik is my stepson. Very proud of my son. He’s always been a leader and always willing to help. Thinks of others. Score himself. Big things in store for him. He’s being recommended for Green to Gold. Thanks for the recognition.
*before*
Pass along our complements to him and Spc. Bozdogan, and tell them we say “Well done, men.”
Thank you Graybeard! I will do that.
Please pass along our compliments to him and Spc. Bozdogan, and tell them we say “Well done, men.”
Dang it – I stuttered. Oh well, one post for each of them, I guess.
You raised a damn fine young man, Kevin. You should be proud as hell.
Please pass along this old soldier’s congratulations to your stepson and his friend.
Thank you Honda! I am very proud!
Hondo! Sorry. Stupid autocorrect!
Kevin, that fine young man got to be a fine young man because a good man taught him how to be good man. Kudos to you both!
Awesome. Two of America’s best.
These are two very good men.

I volunteered to be a DD at any function I could find at CFB Cold Lake.
I came home with $150+ in tips, got the next day off and made sure my fellow troops got home safe.
Once, I had drunken, female Major insist on giving me a carressy back rub while I drove! I really didnt mind.
Had genders been reversed, a huge scandal would have resulted.
