Thursday morning feel good stories
From Genoa, Arkansas, the story happened in November, but it is a virtual treasure trove of Name Scrabble entries;
Three women have been formally charged with aggravated robbery by Miller County prosecutors in connection with a holdup in Genoa last year that cost a fourth co-defendant his life.
Kiana Keshaun Montgomery, 21, Shaynesha Martin, 20, and Ke’Erica Turner, 20, were arrested several days after a Genoa, Ark., homeowner shot and killed 19-year-old Shemar Davion Harris during a robbery. The 81-year-old Genoa man told investigators that he was prompted to routinely arm himself after being the target of six robberies in the 10 months prior to the Nov. 2 shooting.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Connie Mitchell signed off Friday on formal charges of aggravated robbery for Montgomery, Martin and Turner. Montgomery and Turner are both free on bonds of $50,000. Martin remains in the Miller County jail. Her bail is set at $50,000 as well.
From Oroville, California;
Police were called just before 2 a.m. Wednesday to the Olive Hill Retirement Community, 2921 Wyandotte Ave. The resident said an unknown man had been pounding on his door asking for assistance, according to a press release.
The resident met briefly with the visitor, called 9-1-1 and armed himself with a pistol, and went back and opened the door again.
According to the release, the visitor tried to force his way in and the resident shot him.
The shooting victim, a 59-year-old transient from Oroville, was flown by helicopter to an area hospital for treatment.
From Gaffney, South Carolina;

From Montpelier, Vermont;
Police have released the identity of a suspected armed robber who was fatally shot in Montpelier Tuesday morning. They say he is Nathan Giffin, 32, of Essex.
Giffin was fatally shot by police on the football field at Montpelier High School about 90 minutes after he allegedly held up a nearby credit union. Investigators say Giffin was brandishing a silver handgun and made threatening statements toward officers and some suicidal statements. They say he ignored orders to surrender the gun.
A preliminary investigation found nine officers fired their guns at Giffin– eight Vermont State troopers and one Montpelier police officer. Their names have not yet been released but police say they have been put on administrative leave. No police officers were injured in the incident.

Doc,
As well as the perps being arrested for what they did, do ya think the parents should be arrested as well for saddling their children with those g’awful names?
DBW,
Its a crime against the English language….no name should require half the alphabet.
Whattaya got against Polaks?
Back in the day (60 something) we had a Marine with the last name EVERYBODYTALKSABOUT. In those days we made our namestamps for all of our uniforms and skivvie’s. The first time he stamped his utilities half of his name was under his arm. The Platoon Commander and Drill Instructors had a mess trying to figure that one out…..LOL
Just imagine the poor guy that has to do mail call.

LEO Target Practice in VT?
“The shooting victim, a 59-year-old transient from Oroville…”
Victim my ass.
I vote for “Bullet receiver”… or “bullet recipient”?
kudos to that South Carolina young lady – although I hate to think of the emotional storm she is going through in the aftermath.
“A preliminary investigation found nine officers fired their guns at Giffin– eight Vermont State troopers and one Montpelier police officer”
Be interesting to know what the “rounds on target” count was….
Reminds me of this:
https://www.thoughtco.com/florida-cop-killer-shot-68-times-3969294
“An investigation of the scene revealed that police fired 110 rounds.
“That’s all the bullets we had, or we would have shot him more,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told reporters.”
…and the Polk Co. Medical Examiner stated that the turd died of natural causes….. When asked about this rendering, he replied… “When you are shot 68 times, you’re naturally gonna die.” True Story…
Talk about a perp being ventilated up in Vermont. Glad it wasn’t his cellphone that he had in his hand unlike Diallo up in Bronx NY years ago whom was going for his cellphone and got a ventilation job by the NYPD anti crime unit thinking he was going for a gun.
Turns out that it was a BB gun.
BB gun vs 9 real guns. That was never gonna turn out well for the perp.
?Suicide by cop?
