Moriss Taylor passes
Rob J sends us the sad news that Moriss Taylor, the star of one of the longest-running locally produced television shows in history, has passed at the tender age of 93.
The Moriss Taylor Show on KHSL-TV started in 1956, broadcasting until 1997.
Chico radio executive Dino Corbin worked with Taylor in both television and radio from 1972 to 2013, when Taylor retired.
“I’ll remember him for his incredible work ethic, the love of his family, the love of our business — that of broadcasting and entertainment,” Corbin said Wednesday.
“And he loved to make people smile,” said Corbin, who recalled Taylor’s love of corny jokes.
Like most of his generation, Moriss was a veteran, according to Wiki;
He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the second most prestigious medal for valor a person can receive in the air with the Medal of Honor being the most. He flew a cargo plane over “The Hump” between India and China.

Rest In Peace Sir, you’ve earned your place in History and Valhalla.
Rest in Peace.
RIP, Mr. Morris. Godspeed, and thanks – for both your wartime service and your later career.
A correction for Morris’s Wikipedia article, which contains an error. The DFC is NOT the “second most prestigious” military award that can be awarded for actions performed while in flight; it is the 4th highest. Numerous service crosses (DFC/NC/AFC) and Silver Stars have been awarded to pilots and aircrew for actions performed in aerial combat. Both are higher in precedence than the DFC.
I have never heard of him before but obviously a great American. Flying high now cowboy, your country thanks you.
