Mrs. Sparky says we are. It’s certainly cold enough for it in Boston but haven’t seen it yet.
This white stuff sucks, I think it has way too much privilege during Winter months.

I went to the site and saw a fill-in block, so I keyed in his name the way they spell it (“field” instead of “feld”) and his record came up. Showed date of incarceration, but no release date. I hope he enjoys being the Christmas ham.

The Department of the Navy issued orders today to ADM S. Clause, recalling him to active duty, with a report date of 24 Dec 17.
A reservist, with 1,742 years of service, this Naval Aviator specializes in vertical delivery of high-value items. He is flight deck and carrier qualified. He is also a Public Affairs Specialist.
Also recalled, were LCDR Dasher, Master Chief Dancer, Senior Chief Prancer, LT Vixen, CDR Comet, Chaplain (LCDR) Cupid, PO1 Donner, and PO1 Blitzen, an Individual Augmentee from the Naval Reserve. Ensign Rudolph is also authorized to report for duty; however, he must first successfully complete Carrier Qual training, which he has failed three times.
Although the above troops are on orders for only 24 hours, it is anticipated that they will submit a travel claim for 24,901 miles at .56/mile, using a POV. Suitable Government transportation is not available.
As a special operations unit, each member is granted a high level of uniform flexibility, as well as relaxed grooming standards. Per diem has been modified to include large quantities of hot cocoa and cookies.

I had a major Christmas meltdown in 1967 as a wee lad of 5 years. My pa, LtCol D, was a B-52 EWO at the time. He came home scruffy and stinky after a long polar orbit training mission. I asked “where did you fly, dad?”. He said “North Pole. Bombed Santa”. It’s funny now. Then, damn near put me in therapy
Just sitting here enjoying a heavily buttered hunk of panettone and a cuppa coffee. Yum. Best time of year for enjoying food!

So my tomcat “Lebowski” showed up Wednesday night after being MIA for about 5 months. If I had to guess, I would say it was the 8 kittens that were born from the two females that someone dropped along the road to my house. Me being me, I took them in not knowing they were pregnant and, well let’s say it’s a good way to get the wife to not talk to you without actually doing anything bad for once! OK, now back to Lebowski the Tomcat. I think he caught the PTSD while he was out in the woods. When he came in he still knew who I was and where he was but he was super standoffish. That first night it was a good 5 feet minimum distance. He would talk (meow) and move back. After a warm bowl of milk and a pile of cat treats he was willing to keep me in view in the feed room while I puttered around. My other tom “Hercules” popped in and was promptly in a fight for his life. After breaking them apart with an egg basket he went right out the cat door and was in and out the rest of the night. In the morning he panicked as the wife moved some boxes under the tree and the needles on the floor crunched loudly. He was smacking the kittens around after they went to see who he was, he had some restraint but still you could tell he didn’t really want anything to do with them. That night as I was laying on the couch and watching TV, he cautiously jumped up on the couch and laid down at my feet. This was his spot for as long as I can remember. Coyotes are fun to shoot. When they get together to hunt they look and sound like drunken democrats at a convention with free liquor and all night titty bars.
We’re still mourning the loss of “Bubba Cat” who we had to put down, he was in such shape that keeping him would only be prolonging his misery, so we had to do the right thing. We’re thankful for the happy ten years he gave us.
API, I am so sorry for your loss, I know how much they mean to you. It is like losing one of your children. I love mine with all my heart. They are better medicine than anything the doctor gives me! There is nothing better than a warm kitty sleeping in your lap. Take care and I will be praying for you and your fur baby! Merry Christmas my friend!
API: As shared before, it does indeed hurt when we have to say goodbye to our furry companions. Again, am truly sorry for your loss. Hope this provides you some comfort in knowing that you demostrated your deep love for Bubba Cat by helping him cross the Rainbow Bridge. You did the right thing by letting him go. Thoughts and prayers for you.

Wife number 20 and I went to a buffet today. As I was slopping in the buffet entries as if they were pig troughs, I found a hair in one of the hot entry items. I brought it up with the manager, who tried to tell me that I found my own hair. I’m voluntarily bald dammit! How could that be my hair. And, how could the other customers be mad at me when I was not the one that left the hair there. Like me, they were grossed out and wouldn’t eat from the buffet either.

Army football closed out a great season by defeating San Diego St. 35-34 in the Armed Forces Bowl. Finished w/ 10-3 record that included beating Navy.
I wish a very Merry Christmas to one and all, and since I forgot to ask my sister about Hanukkah, a Happy Hanukkah, too.
And for you pagans, roasting hot dogs on the Yule Log is allowed, especially if you’re outside and it’s snowing.

Everyone wants a white Christmas until you live out here in the Great NW for a few years.
Already a foot over the past few days and still snowing!

We got about one inch here in my kingdom, and that’s enough for me. I have to shovel that stuff out of the way, you know. It’s also cold enough to make anyone sit up and take notice.
Wisconsin will get the eastbound benefit of that storm, and so will Michigan. They’ve already got powder in some areas.
8 inches on Friday, followed by about a half inch of ice/freezing rain Saturday, and a quick 8 inches last night/this morning.
Needless to say, not the most relaxing holiday so far.
Next up: sub-zero temps for at least a week, highs might get into the high single digits if we’re lucky.
Brrrrr! A bit chilly here, but manageable. Farmer’s Almanac is calling for us to have a mild, wet winter season. That works for me.
Maybe that turd Giduck can pass along a few pointers on how to shovel….
