Looks like a tie for first this week, both Veritas Omnia Vincit and TERRORLIGIST posted the first posts at the same time, at 1:11 PM.

OldSoldier54

CLEARLY, Jonn may have to have to start syncing his system with the atomic clock in Colorado, separating the nanoseconds from the pico, femto, and attoseconds in order to resolve this controversy.

Tallywhagger

Ok, I had to look that one up!

“An attosecond is 1×10−18 of a second. For context, an attosecond is to a second what a second is to about 31.71 billion years.”

As a young, dumb liberal I used to think that Indians had cornered the market in describing eternity. Then, I read your comment about attoseconds. You win.

HAHAHAHA

Terrorologist

Nope, cut & paste. Oh CRAP, now my secret is out.
Anyways congrats VOV!

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Thanks, been well over a year or so I think since I last hit the dizzied heights of first…

Wilted Willy

Congrats VOV! I am giving it a rest until the first of the year, then I am going to attempt to nail it for 4 weeks in a row! Then I might divulge my secret for getting first on the WOT! Happy Friday to all my friends on TAH!

Thunderstixx

And now your F5 key needs a shave…

Ex-Ph2

I’m here and happy to be here.

Mick

Uh, the sun was in my eyes.

Yeah, that’s it.

That’s why I missed the WOT.

Aysel

I’m so early, and Matt Best is freaking hilarious.

Keep us posted on a certain someone’s hearing today, the gallery is curious.

Ex-PH2

Ditto! Inquisitive minds want to know just what IS going on the the pleasantly postcardlike villages of the Eastern Seaboard, particularly when someone we all know is there.

The Stranger

Top 20!
Merry Christmas!
Happy Chanukah!

Mick

Speaking of Christmas carols, I’ll bet ya didn’t know this:

‘Jingle Bells’ rooted in racism, Boston University professor says

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/12/15/jingle-bells-rooted-in-racism-boston-university-professor-says.html

‘“Jingle Bells,” one of the most well-known Christmas carols in the world, is now being called racist.

[…].’

The Stranger

Alright, I know this is highly irregular and we may need some higher authority to rule on this proposal…but I nominate the professor here, Magnificent Fellow that he is, for the Wall of Insults!

The Stranger

Sorry, went back and read the article…the prof in question is female. However, my motion still stands. Can I get a second?

Wilted Willy

Second, Aye~!

rgr769

Don’t cheapen Chip NASA’s wall o’ insults by awarding it to random progtards.

ChipNASA

I would post the WOI here, but, we’ve been given direction in the past , AS TO, not deploy against females, lest it be be construed as myself or TAH being misogynistic.
However, The Fine Ladies of TAH are authorized full automatic firing. 😉

Ex-PH2

OK, ChipNASA. In my personal opinion, she’s a bimbo.

Graybeard

My kids’ high-school choir teacher could do better than that, Ex-PH2.

She’s a country gal who has survived breast cancer twice, grew up tending cows in East Texas, and is a life-long member of the little one-room Methodist church in her community.

When she expressed her opinion of one of the female assistant principles, the paint in the choir room would blister.

Gotta step your game up for folks like this libtard professor.

Ex-PH2

Go for it, Big Individual!(snorrrtt!) Anyone who maligns Christmas songs as being racist is nothing but a cheapass attention whore.

There! I said it, and if that cow shows up here complaining, she can blow it out her underoos.

A Proud Infidel®™

A 24K Attention Whore!

Ex-PH2

I guess that bimbo perfesser doesn’t know that ‘white Christmas’ refers to snow on the ground and more coming down, NOT to the amount of melanin in someone’s skin.

A Proud Infidel®™

She’s not only 24K proof that liberalism is a Mental Disorder, but that Education alone does not make one truly smart. I wonder if she has ever held a job anywhere other than on a college campus?

Graybeard

One has to have a lot of education to be that ignorant.

At today’s hearing for DB, the result was “Continued Motion of Defense”. His next hearing for Plea is Friday, 22 December 2017.

He is still in the same place.

Another week for him in Paradise..it is still cold in his area.

sj

Awesome. Thanks for the update.

AnotherPat

You are welcome, sj. I was going to ask you about the Commie, but you beat me to it.😉

Next Friday is going to be interesting for DB since it is only 3 days from Christmas…

HMCS(FMF) ret

Was DB present in the courtroom? If he was, how did he look?

Thanks for the update

AnotherPat

HMCS(FMF) ret: I did not attend the hearing. Got the information from VA Court records.

Since he is in Portsmouth and the Court/Judge is in Chesapeake, either he appeared in a Video conference with the Chesapeake Judge (saves time and money transporting prisoners to Court) or he did appear in Court with his attorney.

I have sat in on a couple of Circuit Court Hearings in VA as an observer and noticed that those who were incarcerated were brought in wearing their prison garb with shackles. The ones that were out on Bond appeared in civilian clothes.

Here is the link you can use to look up his case:

http://ewsocis1.courts.state.va.us/CJISWeb/circuit.jsp

Please ensure your cookies are on either on your PC or Smartphone.

Please click on Chesapeake County and after you get to that court, type in his Last Name then First Name. He has 2 entries, but they both read the same.

Hope that helps.

HMCS(FMF) ret

Thank you, AnotherPat

AnotherPat

You are welcome, HMCS (FMF) ret! ☺

sj

Wonder if he has had a conversation with himself and come to the conclusion that he stepped on his crank big time and needs to fly right when he gets out? Nahhhhh.

Wonder if the Mrs has packed her shit and moved out while she has the chance. She has to be loving the silence.

AnotherPat

sj: As shared before, hope he is not “faking” good behavior in order to be released. Folks such as him, the pUrPle DuDe and Forging Frank as well as any Lone Wolves scare me, especially if they admit they have mental issues. I truly feel for those with mental illness, because it IS a disease that possibly could be genetic or a horrific upbringing as a child/young adult. I am not a Doctor or Psychologist or Social Worker or Lawyer or Indian Chief. The Army opened my eyes to those who struggled or still strugglr with depression, addiction or personality disorders. Hopefully, for DB and his family as well as for TAH, he will change…and disappear. We shall see. Some folks can be helped. Others can’t (good example is Wilted Willy’s Brother and Forging Frank and that Carmine A. dude, AKA Luciano B. of the now defunct Wiccan Church).

Just An Old Dog

Yes,
Thanks for the update. While it used to bother me that the disbarred, dishonest, disheveled and disgraced attorney used to delay court proceedings it warms the cockles of my heart that he is doing so behind bars, wearing prison orange, subsisting on prison fare and unable to constantly spit out his diatribe on the internet.

A Proud Infidel®™

I wonder if he’s still trying to file against people while in lockup, anyone heard anything? I bet they’ll fly like an airplane taking off sans fuel!

AnotherPat

API: Have this feeling that he might be highly discouraged on doing that based on his circumstances. I do know Prisoners are allowed to make outside calls for 5-15 minutes that the receiving end has to pay for…and all the calls are recorded/monitored. Some counties in VA do allow a “Smart PC Pad” that family members have to pay for, but it is mostly used to read books, find a job, etc. Those pads are monitored as well and the prisoners can only use them for a few hours a day. The prisoners can only make calls and use the pads if they are displaying good, cooperative behavior.
The prisoners are also held responsible in paying for their room and board while they are incarcerated. Jail is not “free”.Either they get money from friends or family to help cover that cost as well as for items they want to purchase in the commissary. Most of them volunteer to work in the kitchen to get those funds for those expenses.
Hopefully, DB will get help with his mental health issues (and he and his family may or may not have to pay for that as well, because as I shared, jail is not free).

Again, next Friday is going to be interesting. So close to Christmas. Hopefully, this will be an eye opener for him that he won’t be pulling anymore stunts, unless he is truly a gluton for punishment. Only time will tell.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

He can’t help himself.

Just An Old Dog

Fuckpuddles McWrinkleyass is not mentally ill. He is just an evil hateful piece of shit.
He had his shot at going the nutcase route, and he realized it wasn’t going to work.
Only death or a totally disabling condition will end his idiocy.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Bingo. He can’t have it both ways. So the more he files, the saner he is.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Who is Bernath?

Graybeard

A dream, to wit: Why, thou hast put him in such a dream, that when the image of it leaves him he must run mad.

A Proud Infidel®™

Last I heard he fired his Attorney, is he representing himself now?

AnotherPat

API, that is a good question. No telling what is going on. Again, hope he has an eye opener while incarcerated. He definitely has big time mental issues as demonstrated by his past performance. Who knows…he may have to stay longer or even committed if it is determined by a Judge that he is a danger or a nuisance to others. I am not a Lawyer, Prosecuter, Judge or caught up in the Virginia legal system. We shall see what happens in good ole Virginny on folks such as DB. After all, some Virginnies just elected a Governor who wants to implement Gun Control…

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

He does not have mental issues. In fact, most who are currently in locked horns with him does not believe that. He has behaviour issues. His pattern of behaviour suggests criminal acts and civil torts. And the presiding judges seemingly believe the same.

Tallywhagger

Here’s the latest, Dec 11th, in re Bernath vs Seavey wherein a judge in Florida has declared him a vexatious litigant and established specific constraints to prevent DB from using the court system.

It’s a short and easy read: https://docs.justia.com/cases/federal/district-courts/florida/flmdce/2:2015cv00358/311693/297

Without doubt, the court in Virginia is aware of the Florida judges ruling.

I have no reason to believe that DB is without counsel given that a motion to continue was made this very day on his behalf.

Sheesh, here’s hoping that he got a haircut, shaved and has shaped up a wee bit from his most recent booking photo.

FWIW, I don’t think that we have heard the last from a vexatious litigant–who was never a Chief.

A new high in low; last night when I was eating at a local sandwich shop, a customer asked for a foot long sandwich on such-and-such bread. The counter person informed the customer she was sorry but she had no foot long such-and-such bread, only 2 six inch long pieces were left. I’ll never know how the customer kept a straight face explaining to the rocket surgeon sandwich maker how she could use 2 six inch long pieces to make a foot long.

thebesig

They usually slice the foot long anyway, she would’ve saved herself the slicing part. 🙄

SFC D

Aaaaand still they fight for $15.00 hourly. I’d be happy if they actually earned what they get now, that’d be a nice start.

Ex-PH2

McD’s is officially replacing counter workers with kiosks. It was on the news last night. The Rock ‘n’ Roll McD’s in Chicago will be remodeled to be much more modern with kiosks everywhere. I wonder if it has anything to do with counter workers being held up by gangbangers in the Loop? Or could it be that McD’s is first in line to find a way to not pay the demanded wage?

If you go to the pharmacy (drugstore) in the future, will you be waited on by a robot, who tells you to enjoy your stay on the homeworld?

Tomorrow is Wreaths Across America. Our family was inspired by OWB and others last year when they participated (Thank You). This will be our first time in doing this at our local VA Cemetery. So glad our country does this to honor our fellow Veterans. Salute and Rest In Peace, Warriors. You are not forgotten.

Wilted Willy

May God Bless all the fallen warriors!
Rest in Peace all!!

HMCS(FMF) ret

Good people doing a good thing at this time of the year.

My Grand Son’s Scout troop is participating at Arlington. He’ll get a chance to put a wreath on his Grandmother’s grave. She’d be ecstatic.

OldSoldier54

OUTSTANDING!!!

Sj

Except that my name is on the other side of that head stone. Hope I don’t have to own up to that anytime soon.

sj

AAR: Grandson found Grandma’s grave at Arlington. Already had a wreath but the kind folks let him place one on it. Back story is that she was 10 years younger than me so I was supposed to be there first. I’ll be there, hopefully, not soon.

OldSoldier54

May you live long and prosper – to be a guiding light to him.

UpNorth

Ditto, AP. Tomorrow will also be our first time for Wreaths Across America.

Thanks, AP. It really is a great experience and a wonderful teaching moment.

Still, have a bit of anxiety over placing one particular wreath but could hardly let anyone else place it.

Rahm-Bo declares Chiraq a “Trump Free Zone.”

“Chicago’s mayor, Rahm Emanuel, has declared the city a “Trump-free zone,” announcing on late night television that he intends to prevent the president from even stepping foot within the city’s boundaries.”

Now that all the other ills plaguing Chiraq have been settled, Rahm-Bo chooses a special moment to beclown himself with this. I believe its called “deflection” and has been used by third-rate dictators for the history of forever to avoid blame.

Hmmm… sounds like a challenge to me! Will Rahm-Bo violate protocol and go straight to the “Triple-Dog Dare”?

Ex-PH2

Yeah, I’d have to say that Rahmbo is possibly the MOST graceles social moron that has inhabited City Hall in a very, very long time. It was bad enough when Al Capone ran Chicago in cahoots with ‘Big Bill’ Thompson, but this? He’s not scoring any points with anyone except himself.

And just how does that clowndog think he can bar someone from entering the City of Chicago when the only thing he owns is his house in Ravenswood?

Roger in Republic

Perhaps he thinks he can play the Nuclear Card. It has worked so far for that other short commie dictator to the east. Of course, Trump is not a man to piss off.

Frankie Cee

Finally, after having spent more than 180 days of 2017 in a couple of county jails, the STOLEN VALORIST KYLE CHRISTOPHER BARWAN, aka “STRETCHED”, is now being checked in to the Florida Department of Corrections incarceration system. I wonder what the boyz will think of his effeminate 5 ft 6 in, 135 pound pretty body? With no friends at all, and no sympathetic family members, he will have no money in his account from which to pay for any lubricant. He gonna be one sore boy.

Graybeard

Good news, Frankie Cee.

The hard work of you and your teammates have paid off – at least one installment’s worth.

Frankie Cee

In the interest of keeping his name up in lights, (Kyle Barwan will only be in prison for awhile. A 20 month sentence with time served, and good time figured, might have him out in late 2018.), to protect his future potential victims, please use his name when you reference him in a comment, lest he fade away into oblivion. One time per comment will keep him alive, sore and well at Gooooooooogle. Thank you for your cnsideration. Seeing him sent to prison has been one of my goals for years and he made 2017 a better year for me.

Graybeard

Oh, do you mean the Kyle Christopher Barwan who likes to defraud women?
The Kyle Christopher Barwan who has never done an honest days work in his life?
The Kyle Christopher Barwan who is a serial criminal?

Is that the Kyle Christopher Barwan to whom you refer?

Ex-PH2

Are you referring to that pencil-neck geek with an Adam’s apple so prominent you could use it and his chin to open beer cans, Frankie?

The Stranger

Yes, but you need to mention his name. You know, Kyle Christopher Barwan.

Ex-PH2

Oh, Kyle Christopher Barwan is THAT pencil-necked geek! Understood!!

Wilted Willy

Thanks Frankie, that was the best Christmas news I have heard so far! Maybe we can send him a 55 gallon drum of Vaseline for the holidays? I’m waiting on a call back from the local VSO that is looking into my pos brothers case for me! She spent a lot of time with me on the phone and my good brother Ken sent her his entire folder on him with all of his visions of grandeur! I will buy everyone a nice cold beer when he is put in prison where he belongs! I hope you have a Merry Christmas Frankie!
Take care my friend!

A Proud Infidel®™

Asking for a prayer or three, one of my Feline Companions, “Bubba Cat” was sick as hell at death’s door when I came home from work Tuesday night and the Veterinarian is still making a diagnosis. It hurts like hell, I’ve had him since he was the size os a soda can and I’m still mad as hell at myself thinking I missed some warning signs and didn’t get him to the Vet in time.

Graybeard

Sorry to hear that, API. It’s tough when a child or a pet suffers.
Prayers for both of you.

Wilted Willy

My prayers will be with you API! I know how you feel, I have had many cats thru my life that I loved more than life itself! The more people I meet, the more I love my cats! I wish I knew how to download a picture here, I would post one of my 14 years old baby boy! He stays with me all day and night! They always know when you don’t feel well, kitties are better than any medicine the doctor could ever give me!

A Proud Infidel®™

“The more people I meet, the more I love my cats!”

DITTO!!!

Ex-PH2

You have my sympathies, API. My Himmie is winding down, but she’s nearly 18, which is old for any cat, and I have to remember that 18 for a cat is nearly 100 for a human.

And now I have this big, fat, hefty calico shorthair who comes to my front steps for food. I’m hoping to bring her in before the weather turns cold again, but she doesn’t like being picked up. But we’ll work it out.

A Proud Infidel®™

The Veterinarian told us he had heart failure and the prognosis is poor, we’re taking him home for what will be his last night at home and if he doesn’t pass during that we’ll take him to the Vet and put an end to his misery, I refuse to prolong his misery.

Graybeard

Hard time.

I was discussing the life and impending death of a pet with one of my grands the other day. It was a good time to teach him that life holds both joy and grief, and in time we must experience both.

It doesn’t make the grief any less, but it provides hope for the future.

Wilted Willy

My prayers will be with you API, my last baby I had to put to sleep was my Missy that was 20 years old. By the time she passed, she was deaf and blind but still managed to get around just fine. Everyone used to always hear her purr when I was on conference calls. If I had to work until 3 in the morning, she would always stay with me until I went to bed, then she would follow me to bed and sleep under my chin all night! Oh how I miss her! All of my babies are now getting old, most are 14 years old or more, I have 5 of them now along with two dogs! I love all of my animals with all my heart.

A Proud Infidel®™

It often feels like animals SO steal your heart and leave far too soon! “Bubba Cat” is only 11 years young and I’m posting this in between cuddle, brush and petting sessions, I can’t thank him enough for what he gave me since the first time I started petting him when I got back from A-stan after divorcing the Ex-Monster.

OldSoldier54

You got it, Brother.

HH6 refers to our critters as our “furbabies,” so I know how that goes.

The name Bubba Cat ascending before the Throne of the Most High …

AnotherPat

So sorry to hear about this, API.

It always hurts to lose a furry companion. Hurts too much.

Prayers that Bubba Cat will heal…and if Bubba must leave because of suffering, that your heart will heal. You have family here at TAH that care.

A Proud Infidel®™

My sincerest thanks to y’all, we’ve taken him to two different Veterinarians and prolonging his life right now would be keeping him in misery, we’re going to give him one last night at home with us while we say our fond goodbyes and thank him for all the happiness he gave us.

Tallywhagger

Animals are so clever at hiding everything. It may be one of their innate survival traits to avoid being detected as weak or vulnerable. You can’t miss what you can’t see.

Here’s hoping that the vet will come up with a remedy and get him back on the couch, in no time.

A Proud Infidel®™

Like you said, he hid it until it was too late, what you said really helped me forgive myself and as soon as I post this I’ll be back to petting him once again, I’ve already taken him on a final walk through the house and yard during which he purred as best as he could.

Tallywhagger

Like so many of the rest of us, I have been where you are… and I am still willing to do it again. If there was anything you could have done or could do, you’d have done it. And you are doing it, you’re there for him, he knows it.

All of us should be so blessed as Bubba to have someone like you in our life.

A Proud Infidel®™

Thanks again Tallywhagger, you AND everone else. Bubba Cat isn’t the first Pet I’ve ever lost, it’s tough every time but I long ago realized that keeping an animal that is in much physical distress alive is selfish on one’s part and very unfair to the beloved Pet, thus I’m going to do what I see as right and let him cross that bridge to be pain and misery-free, it’s time for me and my Family to say Good-Bye and free him from his misery. I’m in the grief stage and I have to do what’s right for that lovable fuzzy-fart, I have to let him go from his misery and pain!

Tallywhagger

Amen.

The Stranger

In the time I’ve been married, we’ve lost 4 dogs…it doesn’t get any easier. However, we keep adding to the pack. We’ve taken in multiple strays, runts, and unwanted dogs over the years; we don’t find them, they found us. I’ll take my dogs over most people I’ve met, hands down.

e.conboy

API, my deepest condolences to you. Our beloved pets have a special place in our hearts nothing can fill. It is such a great honor and joy to have been loved trusted by one of God’s special creatures. I’ve had the pleasure of being adopted by 12 dogs and cats in the past 50+ years, and the eventual demise of each which I lovingly and respectfully buried in our backyard. Each loss was heartbreaking. I miss them so much but we shall meet again at the Rainbow Bridge and there will great wagging of tails!
Your precious Bubba Cat will be watching over and out for you. May you be comforted and blessed by the friendship we find here with the wonderful men and women here. I wish I could reach out and give you a big hug, PC be damned! e.conboy

rgr769

Sorry for you impending pet loss. I experienced the same thing this Summer when my beloved 12 year old English Setter died of heart failure after anesthesia at the vet.

Tallywhagger

Same here. We lost our Mastiff after 11 years and eight months. He sure loved his ice cream and Betsy. I used to have a dog until I moved up here! Ah well, the parrot adores me and hates her. She is very jealous hen bird.

A Proud Infidel®™

PETS are family, too!!

Frankie Cee

One of our commenters opined to me, in social media, that it would be good if Bernutless, Dullass, and Barwan could be in the same cell. I reminded him that would be “Cruel and Unusual Conditions of employment” for the staff, and that he should think of their welfare. He thanked me for bringing him to his senses. No corrections officer should have to endure something like that trio of losers.

If you’re looking for hearty, filling food on a cold winter’s night, how about BBQ beans with smoked sausage? I fix it in the crock pot. Make some cornbread and add cut veggies on the side. Have dessert afterwards. Good food.

BBQ Beans w/ smoked sausage
2 cans of red bean (canned in chili sauce if you can get them; 2 servings of beans per can, adjust accordingly)
Chopped onion – yellow onions are better for this than Bermudas (reds)
BBQ sauce – commercial brands are okay, I use half a bottle of Sweet Baby Ray’s for this
Spicy brown mustard
Garlic powder – about a 1.5 teaspoons
Worcestershire sauce (or you could try A1 steak sauce, if you like)
1 to 2 links of smoked sausage

Put the beans into the crockpot/slow cooker. Add the other ingredients, to taste. I like a lot of the spicy mustard. You might try some of the more spicy Mrs. Dash varieties, too, if you’re so inclined. Add the chopped onion, but reserve some of it to garnish the plate, too.
Put the sausage link(s) on top of the beans. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours. If you can smell the BBQ, it’s done. Then serve with fresh cornbread, cut veggies on the side, and preferred beverages, and a nice dessert like apple pie.
Portions: 1 standard can of beans will serve two portions, one rope of smoked sausage ditto. Adjust quantity accordingly.
Really good on a cold winter night.

Graybeard

Mrs. GB fixed one of my favorites for the office Christmas party – Blackeyes and Cornbread.

Sort blackeyes (sometime gravel gets in the bag) and put in a pot, cover with water and add either bacon or ham. Cook for 30-45 minutes.

For the cornbread, we use the Aunt Jemima recipe:

Minutes to Prepare: 10
Minutes to Cook: 20
Number of Servings: 9

Ingredients:

1 cup Aunt Jemima yellow corn meal
1 cup all purpose flour
2 tbsp sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup non-fat milk
1 egg
1/4 cup canola oil

Directions

preheat oven 425F
In a large bowl, combine corn meal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
add milk, egg and oil. beat until fairly smooth, about 1 min.
Bake in greased or sprayed 8-inch square baking pan for 20-23 mins or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.

A slice of cornbread covered in blackeyes, and a side of cornbread and butter.

If I weren’t so stuffed, I’d get another serving right now.

Graybeard

(Any left-over cornbread can be served with milk & sugar for breakfast the next morning.)

Ex-PH2

Yeah! Toasted, with milk and sugar! My favorite breakfast in the winter. I used to drive my mother nuts over it when I was 6, (she was not a very good cook) until she figured out that if I wanted it on Thursday morning, I’d probably want it on Friday morning, too.

Wilted Willy

I am lazy today, me and the grandson are going to go out for some chinese since Ex won’t share with me…………

Ex-PH2

Considering the distances involved, sharing would require FedEx and Uber delivery. Providing the recipe is simpler, and besides, you can adjust it to your personal taste.

Tallywhagger

I usually preheat a cast iron skillet with the oil in it, pour the oil into the batter and then batter back into the skillet. It makes for a delicious crust and is easy to remove from the skillet. The downtick is that the skillet handle gets very hot and the skillet is heavy so you really need a couple of pot holders for both hands. Even Yankees like it!

Graybeard

I’d do the cast-iron skillet, but Mrs. GB doesn’t like the heavier container so she uses tin pans, with the oil pre-heated as stated.

I much prefer cooking in cast-iron – and have a goodly selection of skillets and a dutch oven in which to practice.

Tallywhagger

A dutch oven is one of my life companions along with a pressure cooker. I keep the pressure cooker on the stove from October until April.

Betsy makes her version of cornbread with sugar. She’s a Yankee. So it goes with appetites and traditions. Some like sweet tea, I like mine straight or with a hint of lemon.

I was able to teach her how cook black eyed peas. One of the best things about this time of year is that fresh black eyed peas become available in grocery stores. If only for some peach ice cream… but, life is still good, improvise and overcome!

Dang, woman!

I was instantly salivating.

It is good, filling, hearty and goes well with your preference of beverages. I like recipes that are easy, and can be adjusted to suit the needs of the cook (and audience).

Dang that sounds good.

Sweet Baby Ray’s is just about the best BBQ sauce that can be had from a retail shelf. Agreed on the crock pot. Ours stays on the counter year around.

Crock pots showed up while I was stationed at Walter Reed. It was wonderful to put a chicken or roast in the pot before heading off to work and coming home to a real ready to eat meal.

These days, I put stuff in pot before bedtime and it’s good to go in the morning, perfect for making pulled pork or pulled chicken. Sweet Baby Ray’s is ideal on slow cooked pulled chicken or pig. Albeit, nothing can replace smoking a turkey, chicken or pig. A brutha’ gots to do what a brutha’ gots to do.

That’s great comfort food, but we need a good rib roast recipe for next weekend.

Tallywhagger

I suspect that the rib roast is a New England tradition. The Shaw’s store in Gloucester had one in the case last weekend for $147!

There are only two good recipes I ever found in the NYT, one for bread dough and the other for roast beef. Get that roast up to room temperature, season it as you will, put it in a 500 degree oven for about seven minutes per pound. Then, turn off the heat and leave the oven closed for at least a couple of hours.

That works fabulously for a top round, bottom too.

How do y’all legitimate northerners do yours?

Ex-PH2

Rib roast? Put it on the grill outdoors, rain or shine, snow or summer heat.

Ace Hardware has the giant green egg grills on sale right now, along with mowers and power washers. A new mower is really a great gift for Christmas, right?

The horses take care of the grass but I did bite the bullet and bought a Honda snowblower, one of those track drive setups.

For the past 20+ years I have enjoyed an electric Toro snow thrower that I bought from Hechingers in Gaithersburg, Md for one of those great blizzards of some year in the 90s. It has been fabulous. Now, I need to clear a lane that is about 600′ and also clear the stables before the equines eat the doors of their stalls.

As to the green egg thing, I vaguely recall them being available in charcoal or an electric version.

I really like the way the Cuban-American folks in Florida do their Christmas pigs.

There are only two of us for Christmas dinner. I’d like to have venison but she is not into roadkill and the locals don’t take kindly deer hunting. Of course, lobster is cheap. We’ll probably end up with a ham.

Despite what any Jews or Islams may think, I am a Zionist with a Southern Baptist background but ain’t nothing getting between me and Gulf shrimp.

Just imagine being in Texas, at Christmas time, and all of those feral hogs to harvest! Shrimp on the barbie, my ass 🙂

Give the 4-leggers Pony Pops. They can’t bite through them, keeps them busy so they don’t start cribbing from boredom.

His FB page is now locked down.

Frankie Cee

Whose facebook page?

Well duh. OldTimers kicked in. I thought I was on Hines’ thread. I’ll go color.

OldSoldier54

I HATE it when that happens …

Merry Christmas to all of my deplorable friends.

OK, all you folks fixated upon menus, chowing down and such things.

Got an urge for meat the other day, which coincided with a good sale at the local grocer. So, some country try ribs are gong into the crock with some of the aforementioned Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce this am. That should be ready some time after doing my thing with Wreaths Across America.

Then, it will be mixing up meat loafs. Several – one for cooking now and the rest frozen for later.

Suitcase living can be a pain, but I make it a point to stay in extended stay hotels when possible when I’m on the road.

Crock pot stuff is easy, and I’m not blowing my per diem budget when I do my own cooking. One of my faves is going now, just stewed pork chops:

1 1/2 lbs boneless chops
8 oz. package softened cream cheese
10 oz. can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup water
Salt, pepper, garlic to taste

Mix liquid ingredients until cheese no longer lumpy, add spices and chops, cook on low for 6-8 hours. Serve over rice.

Horse radish crusted tenderloin:

Horse Radish: Go to the store and get yourself some horse radish roots, 5 or 6. Peel them and chop them into reasonably small pieces. Put them into your food processor (outside), along with about a cup of white wine. Have one cup of white vinegar handy. Grind until the roots are mushy. Depending on your heat tolerance, click the stopwatch and wait two (2) minutes. Add the vinegar and grind again. I will tell you that three minute horse radish will start fires.

Take the tenderloin and slather it with the horse radish (both sides). Let it marinate for anywhere from 4 to 24 hours. Take the tenderloin and put it on the grill at about 220-225F. Cook for about 1 hour 30 minutes for rare, turning and using the rest of the horse radish as a marinade. Test the meat with a fork (pressing on it) to get it to the desired level of cooking. I like mine rare, so that is the 1 hour 30 minuet. Cook longer for medium rare or medium. use the horse radish mixture to keep the meat moist through the cook. Make enough that you can have some left for the meat when you eat.

Enjoy.
