Change we can’t afford
The President went on television and wrote in the Washington Post today to scare the bejeezus out of us over the shit sandwich he wants to cram down our collective throat. In the Post, he warned;
And if nothing is done, this recession might linger for years. Our economy will lose 5 million more jobs. Unemployment will approach double digits. Our nation will sink deeper into a crisis that, at some point, we may not be able to reverse.
That’s why I feel such a sense of urgency about the recovery plan before Congress. With it, we will create or save more than 3 million jobs over the next two years, provide immediate tax relief to 95 percent of American workers, ignite spending by businesses and consumers alike, and take steps to strengthen our country for years to come.
On the television, he laid out a plan based on Hope – that somehow this year we’ll figure out the energy solution and everyone will immediately make the transition to this new energy source and 3 million jobs will be instantly created because of this as yet undiscovered energy source. In the infantry, we used to say “crap in your left hand and hope in your right hand and see which fills up first”.
Ace of Spades links to a report at The Washington Times, by Steven Dinan that says we can’t afford this recovery.
CBO estimates that by 2019 the Senate legislation would reduce GDP by 0.1 percent to 0.3 percent on net. [The House bill] would have similar long-run effects, CBO said in a letter to Sen. Judd Gregg, New Hampshire Republican, who was tapped by Mr. Obama on Tuesday to be Commerce Secretary.
The House last week passed a bill totaling about $820 billion while the Senate is working on a proposal reaching about $900 billion in spending increases and tax cuts.
I can hear it now; next year when we’re still wallowing in the mire of this “stimulus”, Obama is going to tell us that he can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but that we’re going to need a tax hike in the interim. A tax hike will kill the economy and he’ll want more hikes.
CBO did project the bill would create jobs, though by 2011 the effects would be minuscule.
They might be minuscule, but we’ll hear the revisionist version through the campiagn about many billions of jobs were created by The One Who Brings Us Light. And if you don’t think the crap sandwich will work, the you’re just a partisan, racist buffoon;
We can once again let Washington’s bad habits stand in the way of progress. Or we can pull together and say that in America, our destiny isn’t written for us but by us. We can place good ideas ahead of old ideological battles, and a sense of purpose above the same narrow partisanship.
See that? If you’re more worried about Obama writing a check our collective ass can’t cash than you are about giving The One absolute power over our lives, well, you just suck.
Harry Reid claims he has the votes to get the shit sandwich through the Senate. Michelle Malkin speculates on the “squishy four RINOs”;
I’m told that the Squishy Four are (no surprises here):
Collins (202) 224-2523
Snowe (202) 224-5344
Voinovich (202) 224-3353
Specter (202) 224-4254Staunch conservative Sen. Coburn is on the floor right now defiantly rebutting Harry Reid’s hurry-up alarmism. Coburn: “Hurry up is what got us into trouble in the first place.”
Collins is supposed to be still up in the air – but she played that role through the Bush years, too, always caving in to the Left.
Oh, wait, there she goes;
Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine said Obama, in a meeting with her on Wednesday, had persuaded her that the ultimate bill should be “in the neighborhood of $800 billion.”
“The president did convince me,” she said, adding that she believed the two sides would reach a compromise on the Senate stimulus package on Thursday.
*sigh*
I guess Collins was just “turning crisis into opportunity” like The One commanded unto her.

So, this is the “Hope” candidate?????
Ronald Reagan would have said “We Americans have faced harder economic times and have always risen to the challenge. We are a great country and not only will we survive — we will thrive. Through rugged individualism, not government skepticism. Through hard work and personal inititative, not through government subsidies and economic dependence.”
Mr. Obama said at his inauguration that government will bring about change in America.
Well, Mr. Obama, for person who is proclaimed to be an educated man, let me remind you that it’s supposed to be the other way around.
Sorry, Mr. O. America will get through this recession without your help.
Amen to ya, Adirondak…Bush 41 also said something similar. If we buy into the doom and gloom we will make it a self-fulfilling prophecy. We need to be our own cheerleaders!
Reagan was my hero. My CIC and the first election vote ever cast. Surely he is spinning like the tasmanian devil…
…human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together…mass hysteria!
All this crap puts me into a very bad mood that sometimes borders on depression… Especially all those RINOs! The country has gone raving mad – our enemies are laughing their asses off knowing that soon this country will fail and fall at their feet… Back to work…
Olga darling, depression is nothing more than anger without enthusiasim (or so says my shrink at the v.a.)What always cheers me up is buying massive quantities of ammo and stockpiling non perishable food.LOL But in all honesty I and many others like me agree with you. Luck
Airborne,
I was planning on your type of therapy this weekend (ammo mostly LOL) but some stuff came up at work so I am putting 12-hours days through the weekend and next week…
Olga,thats why i’m grateful to be a federaly protected minority,if i was gay, i would be untouchable. (LOL)Keep your head up and drive on!!!
Didn’t he mean “500 MILLION jobs PER MONTH” if his shit sandwich wasn’t passed? Wasn’t that what Speaker-for-Life promised?
The only “changes” I see in the Obama administration are his diapers. He fills them up so fast they can hardly keep up.
Dear Leader Obammy,
GOLF-FOXTROT-YANKEE.
Stimulus package of The COW costing us billions
Glenn Cassel’s response to the COW– PRICELESS!!!
Nice Glenn, short, to the point and a message that none of us could mistake.
Glen Cassel
I was going to suggest you send your “GOLF-FOXTROT-YANKEE” suggestion to Obama, and I wanted to include the web sight to do it, but I couldn’t find a way to contact him on the sight. It would have been interesting if they knew what the suggestion was. If anyone has a way of contacting him, please give him the suggestion.
In typical Obama fashion, you have to go through his donation page first before you go any further.
