NYPD’s Miosotis Familia assassinated
According to ABC News, New York police officer, 48-year-old Miosotis Familia was assassinated by Alexander Bonds, 34 while she was sitting in her mobile command vehicle, aside her partner. A bystander was also wounded and her partner was unharmed. Bond was confronted by officers and gunned down when he drew his revolver on them minutes after the murder.
At a press conference Wednesday morning, New York City Police Department Commissioner James P. O’Neill said Familia had been shot in the head in an “unprovoked attack” while sitting with her partner in a marked police command vehicle on the corner of Morris Avenue and East 183 Street around 12:30 a.m. ET. O’Neill told reporters the vehicle had been parked there since March due to increased gang activity in the area.
According to the New York Times, Bonds was paroled in 2013 after seven years in prison for an armed robbery in Syracuse.

Local news is reporting that she had three children.
It’ll never happen in this state, but Capital Punishment should be the rule in such cases.
I think that New York’s death penalty specifications allow for folks who kill cops.
I should know that! Thanks, Jonn for setting me straight.
Sad.
Rest in Peace.
Perpetual fuck-up couldn’t even commit suicide-by-cop correctly.
Dunno about that – he did manage it, albeit while also taking someone with him.
And based on some of his social media postings and past history, he seems to have had longstanding problems with police in general. Might not have been trying to commit suicide at all.

I think I misread the account that he ran away after the shooting. I thought it it said that after the shooting he had the gun, pointed it at other cops (who shot him), but didn’t fire. That may have been an incorrect account or I misread it.
Or, the cops fired when his gun cleared from under his hoodie. The account I read reads like he was fleeing, not trying to stand and get shot.
RIP Officer
So……did this poor excuse for a wad stain shout “Aloha Snackbar” at the time of the assassination? “Black Lives Matter”? Was the coward radicalized while in prison?
I’m glad “he” is now no longer a burden on the judicial system, but that’s cold comfort to the Familia family.
and before he was let go from prison for the armed robbery he was in there for beating a cop with brass knuckles. Once again the injustice system letting out criminals to prey again.
‘But…but…he was just starting to turn his life around…’
“He dindu nuffin, he jus’ trying to hep out his mama”.
What a tragic loss, in what amounts to yet another example of our miserable criminal justice system. Maybe someday we will stop worrying about Trump’s tweets and ask why the nation that supposedly offers the most individual freedoms locks up more people per 100k than most of the rest of the world….
Good thing we keep all the stoners locked up…with half the prisoners in state prisons there for non-violent offenses and just under half in the federal system…it’s good to know we have our priorities straight…far better to keep non-violent drug and property criminals locked up than shitbags like this.
Ditto
Know what a “non-violent property criminal” is? A burglar who has yet find to someone home when he commits a burglary.
I disagree.
The only reason we have so many people in prison is because we don’t enforce thw laws we got and the criminals are not afraid to do the little time they do.
Our prison system should not be about reeducating, but about punishment for violating our laws.
^^^^^ THIS!! SO MUCH THIS!!
I could virtually empty out the prisons in a very short time. All convicted violent offenders (murderers, rapists, etc.) get the death penalty. All embezzlers and other white-collar criminals are indentured until they repay every penny they stole. Forget this “rehabilitation” nonsense–it clearly doesn’t work.
Syracuse. Why am I not surprised? Then again, I wouldn’t have been had you said Buffalo or Rochester, either.
Rest in Peace, Officer.
My prayers go out to the fallen officers family. Why this shitbag was on the streets is beyond me, I say the judge that set him loose should be put in jail for murder! Anyone that uses a firearm in the commission of a crime should not be let out early or at all! They should have to do at least 20 years minimum! God bless this poor officer!
Damn. Too young. Rest in peace, Ms. Familia.
Apparently the perpetrator of this assassination wasn’t hiding his intentions:
‘Bronx gunman in NYPD shooting had railed against police and prison on Facebook’
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/07/05/bronx-gunman-in-nypd-shooting-had-railed-against-police-and-prison-on-facebook.html
‘A newly uncovered Facebook video reveals that the man who shot and killed an NYPD officer in her vehicle was not going to back down from confrontations with police.
The September 2016 video, found by The New York Times, showed Alexander Bonds railing against officers, who he claimed were guilty of raping and killing inmates, and making prison conditions worse. Speaking to the camera, Bond said: “I’m not playing, mister officer. I don’t care about 100 police watching this.”
Bond added, “I got broken ribs for a reason, son, we gonna shake. We gonna do something. We can’t be dying for free, getting raped for free, just for them to give you hush money. Is you stupid? I don’t want the money. I want justice.”
Bond seemed to suggest he wasn’t afraid of confronting officers. “I’m not hesitating. It ain’t happening. I wasn’t a bitch in jail and I’m not going to be a bitch in these streets.”
[…].’
Where is BLM now???
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
Shack!
“According to the New York Times, Bonds was paroled in 2013 after seven years in prison for an armed robbery in Syracuse.”
Yeah, laws already in in place as well as that prohibiting convicted felons from possessing firearms and ammo went a long way in preventing another crime.
RIP, Officer.
RIP
I Just can’t find the words to say anything else.
The stats are bad in NYC, as there have been more assassinations (and attempts) of NYPD officers than any other jurisdiction in our land in recent years.
Yet, NYC remains one the safest places on the face of the earth based on many metrics.
Sad.
My sincere condolences to her family, her friends, and her colleagues. What a terrible, terrible thing.
Thanks for the picture. I got confused yesterday as did some of the broadcasters. They referred to her at “he” a few times then had her partner screaming and that sounded like a female too so I didn’t quite know what to think.
RIP officer.
