A quick note of thanks

| April 25, 2017

There will be a longer one, but wanted to toss something up today.

For those that are Facebook friends with me (and you all should be) you know the past few weeks/months have been rough. I hurt my back bad back in December, and I was barely able to move, much less bend over. Wife is growing two kids, so she clearly can’t do anything.  Our house was in a state of disaster because we couldn’t pick anything up.  On top of that, my best 4 legged friend, Mosby… about a month ago we thought Violet poked him in the eye, because he started running into things. Meanwhile, the legal saga is literally unbelievable. Beyond what most of you even know, we’re talking things that no lawyer I’ve talked to has ever seen. Total bizarroworld.

Against that backdrop, I had an epidural (actually a bit more than that, but basically an epidural) which I had no faith would work. Turns out, worked like a champ. VA told me to behave myself, so I’m laying in bed watching the full LOTR for the 7th time in a week as I play computer. I took my dog in yesterday to the vet, fearing that he had a brain tumor and I would lose my anchor, the little guy I turn to to just hold when things are dark. In fact, I threw up repeatedly because I was so worried he was dying. And the last thing I need is to lose my best friend, and have my 18 month old find him. Well, bad news is he’s blind. Like, totally. Good news, it doesn’t seem like dogs need sight much. As long as we don’t move anything, dude moves just fine. He wags, eats, comes to bed, everything he’s always done.  And has no lasting health issues, other than not being able to see anything.

He did have some problems today, but that was because TAH, and especially Jonn and Parachute Cutie are the finest people to ever walk the planet, and the readers (dare I saw community) of you guys are just amazing. I came home from work and it looked like we were moving and no one told me. There were boxes EVERYWHERE. The baby shower thing you guys did was awesome and I sincerely love you all for it. I’m not kidding, the entire walkway in front of our front door was packed with stuff. Toys, dolls, diapers, everything.

I’m grateful. I can’t say anything more than that, just eternally grateful for all of you. I’m excited to expand our family, and give Violet two brothers she can boss around.

Thumbs up TSO! Now go walk some tours.

ChipNASA

Hugs and kisses to all of you and get even better more quickly.

Rb325th

Mark, you deserve every bit of goodness that comes your way. When I get back on my feet here, I will be making/sending something your way.

Graybeard

Dusty in here.

BZ to the TAH ladies and gentlemen who showed the TSOs the love and support.

And prayers for all of the TSO household, that God will continue to protect and keep you.

Ex-PH2

I hope your back gets better. I would say get Pupster a seeing-eye cat, but that requires a catbox and you have to be able to bend over to clean it.
Please get better. There is nothing worse than a bad back.

We had a dog that went blind from diabetis and have one now that is having a cataract problem…it hurts us more than it hurts the dogs it seems…even so, hard to watch an active little bugger running into things….doesn’t take too long tho that they find their way in the dark! I love dogs more than a lot of people!!

Take a knee, drink water.

Fixes all medical issues.

A Proud Infidel®™

…and take your Motrin, now THAT fixes any and all medical ailments, the US Army still says so!

OldSoldier54

Motrin … 800 mg of Ibuprofen … they don’t call it Ranger Candy for nothing.

desert

Now they say ibuprofen is hard on the liver/or kidneys, not sure which, they made me switch to acetaminphen?

Eden

It’s also hard on your digestive system. Turmeric and/or capsaicin (the element of peppers that make them hot) are much better and safer choices. And they can be used topically as well as internally. Arnica (used topically, available in most health stores) is really good for taking down swelling, also.

MSG Eric

Motrin also helps you live longer according to scientific studies. So you’ve got that going for you.

What he said.

Just An Old Dog

TSO,
I’ve said it before, but it needed to be repeated. Jonn, MCPO, and yourself (and a few others I may be leaving out) on this site have took on the mantle of facing down the beast that is Dan Bernath.
You have said it before how much NOT Fun it is locking horns with that guy.
He is a mean, petty man who uses every dirty trick in the book to go after people.
Don Shipley and his bride have had to do the same thing, and you can see on their site the stress it has caused them and financial strain.
Bernath is on his last legs, but he is still a dangerous animal.
Subscribers/ Commenters here need to be thankful that our identity has been protected.
Enjoy your boys and your little girl and the time with your pup.
Give the Mrs a big hug for supporting you, because in reality she is supporting us as well.

HEAR, HEAR!!

I HATE it when that happens …

Glad things are looking better. Your daughter is absolutely adorable. She will be a great big sister. Remember the Sox are playing and the Pats will be playing soon.

Valkyrie

You have the sweetest little (soon to be bigger) family and I enjoy seeing the pictures and the stories that you post. I’m so glad to hear that some things are looking up for you guys.
Especially about your pup. I was so upset when our 12 year old doggie went blind and then partially deaf, but he still thinks he’s a badass, and the kitty helps him keep his reputation. (Just don’t tell him it’s a cat, he thinks it’s another dog.) haha!

MSG Eric

What a big teddy bear you are. You had me at epidural.

Glad there is some light at least, keep on truckin’.

Rich

Welcome

OldSoldier54

No worries, Brother. Honored to help.

Geetwillickers

Awwwww… Somehow I missed the virtual shower thingy.

You and Caro are my favorite couple I have never met. (and much higher on the list than a lot of folks I have…) And every new post about Viole(n)t feels like a post about my own niece. I can’t wait to see the hilarity ensue when she has two minions at her disposal.

Keep on keepin’ on Brother. This too, shall pass.

That is all.

For those that missed it, I just checked and the links still work.

I was not able to help for the first drive, but would certainly still like to chip in if I can.

Eden

TSO, that little one in the pic is totes adorbs, and probably has you completely wrapped around her little finger. Amiright?

Wilted Willy

Hi TSO, first off, may God bless you and your soon to be larger family. Don’t worry about your best friend, I once had a cat that went blind and deaf! She still acted the same, jumped up on the counters, ran around the house, it just never seemed to slow her down? She lived another 3 years that way, I still miss her with all my heart! She was the best cat ever! If your back keeps bothering you, I have the same issue and it has gone on for over 30 years! Last year, I had a neuro stimulator put in my spine and that has really helped with the pain lever. God Bless you brother, just holler if you need any more information?
Take care!

Joe

Our friends’ cattle dog, Bandit, had to have both eyes removed several years ago. Bandit seems almost oblivious to the fact that he is blind, still messes around with his dog friends, still goes on long hikes with mom and dad, although restricted to flatter ground (no cliffs). After all, smell is their primary sense, sight is secondary. I bet Mosby adapts really well.

Retired Master

Glad to hear good news in your corner of the world. Stay well!!
