Thursday Open Thread (Temp)

| January 26, 2017

Yes, I’m putting up the open thread now, since you all need the practice to be first in the fold for the WOT.

As a side note, we got about a tenth of an inch of snow coated with ice last night, and the predicted 1 to 2 inches went up to Wisconsin, instead.  So if you got hit, fire up the Ben Franklin stove, heat the cider and have a good day.

First!

Claw

Just a practice run to take off the edge.

Better be up early tomorrow, pal. Jonn usually posts the WOT within the same 1.5 hr time frame. However, Jonn is busy getting sponge baths by Hooters gals or Madeleine Albright look-a-likes, I don’t know which. So you and the other would-be firsters had better be on your toes. If it falls on Hardin to post, 5 gets you 10 he posts it w/o comment capability.

Claw

Oh, Hell, I’m always up early. Usually between 0430-0530 MST, Scooby needs to do his thing.

I’ve given up on being the WOT First thing for awhile. Too much stress on the F5 button. Only if it somehow dumps itself in my lap will I snatch the opportunity to be First and then hold it high in the air for all the too slow losers to see.

ex-OS2

I plan to have a celebratory bash all weekend long after my WOT victory tomorrow.

All the first place losers are invited to drink their defeat away, BYOB.

Skyjumper

2nd!!!

Skyjumper

Dam, missed it by that much! 😉

I just had to watch to the end of an old black & white Perry Mason show.

Graybeard

Fifth. (Jack Daniels’, please)

Graybeard

Well, Claw double-posted, so I’m really fourth.

As in a pint, I suppose. In which case, Shiner Bock will work.

Graybeard

While y’all are getting snow, we are sunny and in the 50’s with lows to 35 tonight.

Good hiking weather. Wish I could take the squirrel gun out instead of working.

Skyjumper

Ex-Ph2, correction.

I just got thru blowing 8″ of 1-2 inches of white stuff up here in my part of the Land Of Cheese.

Now having a snack break of sliced ring bologna with onions resting in a bowl of vinegar and then placed on some homemade rye bread washed down by some freshly ground coffee. Ohhhhh, ya!

Skyjumper

Awhile back, a female friend of mine once described how snow is like sex……..”You never know how many inches you’re going to get or long it’s going to last”.

Wisely, I never asked her any questions.

sj

That’s funny!

The WaPo is making it a big deal – they usually submit resignations and stay on as part of a transition, but they all must be butt hurt over Trump.

I’m sure they are, IMHO the Washington [Com]Post is about as fair and balanced as the Nooh Yawk Slimes.

aaaaawwww….lot’s of senior bureaucrats at State have resigned because of The Donald. Mexico’s Pres cancelled his trip because of The Donalds’s Tweet.

Left is distraught. I see big piles of Victory. SecState starts with own team and not Kerry/Hillary sloppy seconds.

Liberal tears mixed with a heaping scoop of schadenfreude, OOOOH how delicious!!!

An oldie, but a goodie:

“Today’s Army uses a form of punishment called Reinforcement by Indosement (RBI), which is essentially having a soldier write a 1000 word essay for errors in judgement, etc. Here is a photoreproduction of one soldier’s version of an RBI for not having brought all his equipment to the specified event.”

Scroll down to the PDF Link of the essay that is in the article.

Graybeard

That is worth the read.

It may be old, but it’s new to me.

sj

In the White Name Tape Army (’60s), RBI was “Reply by Indorsement”. It was used by the COC to have the leader that screwed up splain why he screwed up and the corrective action taken to avoid a repeat. I never saw it used on Snuffy. Usually was in response to something like an IG report.

Interesting how it morphed over the years.

Here’s yet another bright idea from our ol’ pal Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif. (http://valorguardians.com/blog/?p=69873), and his buddy Sen. Edward Markey, D-Mass. What could possibly go wrong? ‘Democrats introduce bill to take nuclear football out of Trump’s hands’ http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/01/25/lawmakers-introduce-bill-to-take-nuclear-football-out-trumps-hands.html ‘Two Democratic lawmakers introduced legislation Tuesday that would prevent President Trump from launching a nuclear weapon without a obtaining a congressional declaration of war. Foreign Policy reported that the bill was introduced by Sen. Edward Markey, D-Mass., and Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif. The article notes that Lieu has a paper sign outside his office that reads, “Alternative Fact Free Zone.” Under current law, the U.S. president can order a first-use nuclear strike even if the U.S. is not under nuclear attack. Trump was asked by ABC News Wednesday about the responsibility of receiving the nuclear codes and responded that it was a “very sobering moment.” “It’s very, very, very, scary in a sense.” During the campaign, Hillary Clinton made it a point hit Trump on his temperament and what she called his erratic use of Twitter. She said, “A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons.” Markey said in a statement that nuclear war is the “gravest risk to human survival,” and he is concerned that Trump suggested in the past that he would consider a launch against terrorists. Markey was likely referring to Trump’s comments in March, when he was asked a hypothetical question about an ISIS strike and responded, “I would never take any of my cards off the table.” Trump was also criticized during the campaign when he said, “Let it be an arms race” with Russia. The bill has gained support from various global disarmament groups and former-Secretary of Defense William Perry, who served under President Clinton. In August, The New York Times wrote extensively on the president’s responsibility with nuclear codes. The report said that it is up to the president to decide whether a nuclear attack on the U.S. was real, and, in turn, could have only minutes to decide if it warranted a nuclear response.… Read more »

“A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons.” And a dame who would disregard security requests for a diplomatic mission that was ultimately overrun and destroyed and whose first official statement regarding the terrorist attack was to speak to respecting Islam is someone who could be trusted never to hit the button, no matter what. (I know she’s irrelevant but I have never, forgotten Benghazi.)

I like and admire you, TSO.

Now that I have that out of the way:

GO FALCONS!?

FWIW, Houston (host of the next “Super Bowl”) is busy trying to hide its homeless problem by taking away the tents, sleeping bags, and other worldly possessions of the homeless in an effort to drive them to other areas.

On an unrelated note, Houston has been run by leftests for the last several decades. You know, those kind, thoughtful, champions of the down-and-out.

Until TSO first eyed Tom Brady, TSO thought himself straight.

I would love to see President Trump ( God how I love writing that! ) carry a nice big football with a nuclear radiation sticker on it just to piss off the poor butt hurt media and their followers?

The swamp is beginning to drain. The top management officials at the State Department who tried to bail out Hillary on the email scandal have been “resigned”:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/01/25/under-secretary-patrick-kennedy-out-at-state-department.html

Ditto the Obama appointed head of the Border Patrol who refused to endorse Trump when the BP union did so:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/01/26/border-patrol-chief-out-day-after-trump-border-fence-decree.html

Let us hope this “resignation” trickle becomes a flow…

I don’t think this is over the top, do you?

UPDATE: The State Department top managers did not resign, (SORRY WAPO-FAKE NEWS!) The were FIRED by Trump.

Obama, so proud of himself, dissed by that twisted traitorous freak, as thanks and reward for the commutation of his lengthy sentence.

Care to guess how Donald is going to get Mexico to pay for the wall? A 20% tariff on imports from Mexico!

http://nypost.com/2017/01/26/trump-wants-20-percent-import-tax-to-pay-for-mexico-wall/

Poetrooper

Schadenfreude indeed. Writing at TownHall.com, Victor Davis Hanson reminds us:

“On Nov. 7, “experts” were forecasting a Republican civil war: a disgraced presidential candidate, a lost Senate and a liberal Supreme Court for the next 30 years.

“Two days and an election later, the world flipped. Republicans — with majorities in both houses of Congress, overwhelming majorities in the state legislatures and with governorships, and a likely slew of Supreme Court vacancies — haven’t been in a better position since the 1920s.”
***********************************************

Here at TAH I think we were a little more upbeat before the election than the general public because we already had a strong distrust of the media. Many of us simply refused to believe those Hillary landslide polls that I believed then and now know for sure were designed to intimidate and demoralize conservative and Republican voters.

We should never forget the treachery of the media. They have demonstrated clearly that they want a socialist America not a constitutional representative democracy. Should there ever be a left against right uprising in this country, the media industry should be seized immediately and repopulated with genuine moderates who swear an oath to report in an unbiased manner. Violate the oath and get fired. News needs to be news, not political propaganda for world socialism.

But for now, let’s just bask quietly in the schadenfreude of the liberal media’s frenzied insanity over their side losing.

Bwahahaha!!! Sorry, just can’t do it quietly…

‘Tis a terrific vintage year for my favorite refreshment, it’s a 50/50 mixture of liberal tears and schadenfreude! ???

Well, we have a city that dropped it’s status as a “sanctuary” and going to cooperate with the feds:
