North Korea plans ICBM capability

| January 2, 2017

Reuters reports that North Korea has been making advancements in their intercontinental ballistic missile capabilities that finally make them a credible threat to the Untied States;

North Korea’s state media regularly threatens the United States with a nuclear strike, but before 2016 Pyongyang had been assumed to be a long way from being capable of doing so.

“The bottom line is Pyongyang is much further along in their missile development than most people realize,” said Melissa Hanham, a senior research associate at the U.S.-based Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, California.

She said the North’s test in April of a large liquid-fuel engine that could propel an ICBM was a major development.

“The liquid engine test was astounding,” Hanham said.

“For years, we knew that North Korea had a Soviet R-27 missile engine design. They re-engineered the design of that engine to double its propulsion”.

So that’s another big accomplishment for the Obama Administration. In our favor, they’ve only been successful at one launch in the last eight attempts, so we have that going for us.

Wave some cheese in front of Fatty Kim da T’ird. A big enough spread of cheese might distract him long enough to take his tiny mind off of rockets and stuff.

Doesn’t he know kids shouldn’t play with dangerous toys?

NR Pax

Hell, just set up a BBQ at the DMZ and the smell from it will get their populace to defect.

HMCS(FMF) ret

Don’t be telling Denny Chevalier about Lil’ Kim’s cheese spread… he may fly over there in his “Compass Call” aircraft to snarf down some of that stuff.

ex-OS2

Send the Zika-Commie as an emissary to talk some sense into Kim Jong-in, you know since fearing the commies is so “50’s”.

Tallywhagger

Speaking of being Mr. Intercontinental, with that frown and scowl, just throw in a vest, a bike helmet and bush-pilot Bernath could photoshop himself right in as an honorary NorK.

Ret_25X

He must spend hours each day of being a lawyer in NorK…courts full of morons getting railroaded by the state for stupid things.

Why, a guy like our disbarred friend could make himself a “killing” in a place like NorK….

I guess I should not be giving him ideas, but think of how funny his execution would be when he effs it all up over there…

LOL

Ret_25X

*dreaming*…geez

Ret_25X

Well why not–its not like we have spent the last 20+ years taking this turd seriously.

We sent Jimmy Carter to negotiate a non-proliferation agreement with the Norks–Jimmy Carter! A man who has never met a murderous tyrant he didn’t want to arm.

Apparently, the US decided long ago that nuclear non-proliferation was just too hard and stopped trying.

We are witnessing the beginning of the decadent collapse of Western Civilization.

The tears of those who agitated most for its collapse will be wonderful medicine for the rest of us who have to rebuild after the SHTF.

Ex-PH2

“…decadent collapse of Western Civilization” ????

Excuse me, but we’re still here, in case you hadn’t noticed. It’s a new year, fresh air and new attitude. Please, if you’re going to start the year with a negative attitude, PLEASE do it in a closet where no one will tell you ‘LIGHTEN UP, FRANCIS!!!’

I’m just glad I have a positive attitude and I am POSITIVE that things are going to get back to normal, even if that upsets your coffee table display.

Have a nice time being a curmudgeon!

Ret_25X

While there are certainly many things that are looking up, let us not be fooled. Western Civ is dying…strangled by those who need it most.

Truthfully, I don’t see any useful way ahead that doesn’t include some form of catastrophic event to galvanize change.

Ex-PH2

Okay, I don’t argue that point, but I’ve read several forecasts that say essentially the same thing: the US will be in a defensive position for several decades, and there will be a lot of shocks and sudden changes, both from natural causes and manmade causes (such as financial issues, ISIS, etc.).

We can’t hide from these things, so it’s better to choose to be prepared for them and be aware of them than to complain about them. Nobody likes changes, but many times they are forward-looking and beneficial.

It took Rome 1200 years to end. I think we’ll be around at least that long, maybe longer. If you choose to not believe that, that’s your choice. But frankly, I’ve been hearing ‘death of western civilization’ since the first grade and we’re still here AND we WILL be for some time to come.

Damn, I do need a new keyboard!!!

The day little porky actually hits something with his toy gun will be the day China takes overt control of the situation. NK is more of a threat to China than anyone else. China does not need more people to feed and NK will become a giant refugee camp after the smoke clears. Let the fuckin UN clean up the mess.
They created it.

2/17 Air Cav

Yep. If China, North Korea’s only friend and without which North Korea would turn belly up, ever decides that the nukes aren’t such a good idea, there will be no nukes. Until then, China can hope that what is aimed west or east to water doesn’t turn north in an atomic-level aw shit moment.

Ex-PH2

Absolutely. Anyone who thinks China isn’t watching Fatty Kim da T’ird like a hawk isn’t paying attention. I’d bet the Chinese are better at making people like him disappear than any other government here present.

Tallywhagger

They say that John Kerry is looking for new plunder? He speaks French–imagine that–but I am sure the Norks would provide translators if they thought he could amuse the fatboy.

Ambassador Kerry, Houseboy In Residence to Kim Phat-boi.

Ret_25X

The NorKs represent China’s expendable provocateur. A nuke armed NorK is entirely desirable by China as they can then be used as an excuse for some larger play.

Let’s also make no mistake here. NorK does not get nukes without Chinese help.

Of course, the also needed our help. Which we gave them in the form of sending Jimmy Carter to negotiate a treaty with them…

26Limabeans

“Let’s also make no mistake here. NorK does not get nukes without Chinese help.”

Exactly. China is covertly in control thus my warning that it will go overt in a heartbeat.

The Other Whitey

All very true, but if NDtBF does something that doesn’t fit with their long game, he’s gonna feel it.

North Korea is kind of like the street gang to Red China’s mob boss. They can do what they want, as long as doesn’t mess with the don’s bottom line. But as soon as they do something that’s bad for business, there’s consequences.

David

The problem is that whatever they have done at that point (ie.nuking someone like Seoul, Japan, us) remains done.

An irritating Nork-land is in the Chinese interest… but they need to understand that whatever consequences the Norks take for intemperate actions will flow to them as well – errant missiles, fallout clouds, etc.)

A Proud Infidel®™

Since when has pudgy little NDtBF launched a missile that could actually stay in the air? If I remember correctly, all his missiles have ever hit is the open ocean, something very hard to miss.

Ex-PH2

Yeah, but wouldn’t we have some kind of warning from NORAD or someone?

Hope so. I’d need time to get to the store for canned stuff like Spam.

ex-OS2

Annnnnd popcorn!

Ex-PH2

Oh, of course! And bird food! Can’t let that go.

68W58

I’ll bet they could hit Japan-that’s the real concern IMHO. China might not mind so much if their longtime enemy got a punch in the mouth from L’il Kim’s crew.

Roh-Dog

Caveat: this is just joke.
Dear Mister Supreme Leader,
Please exercise your new found glory on the capitalist cesspool known as Berkley California.
Thank you from a victim of the trappings in the United States of Corporatocracy.

(In reality, I wish the mf’er would get froggy)

The Other Whitey

I sometimes wonder if Alan Alda ever reflects on how retarded Hawkeye was for being a Nork sympathizer, since his anti-American soap box bullshit was Alda’s idea. Being the Larsist libtards asshole that he is, I doubt it.

2/17 Air Cav

I hated MASH. I swear I watched it now and then just to get pissed off. The exchanges between Alda and Rogers all sounded as if they were written by a round table of wise ass, know-it-all Ivy League freshmen.

nbcguy54ACTUAL

Yep. Alda ruined the last few years of that show with his subtle political crap…

UpNorth

Yeah, toward the end of Rogers’ time at MASH is when he started to go all shitbird. But, those few timid steps became a full sprint toward the political bullshit with the arrival of Mike Farrell.

26Limabeans

Yep. That political crap ruined it. The early pre Dustoff helicopter footage was cool though.

Fantastic!

2/17 Air Cav

That’s a scream.

A Proud infidel®™

CLASSIC!!

Grimmy

Thank you Bill Clinton and madam Notsobright for allowing the norks to get up to speed on making nukes.

Without your fine works, our enemies wouldn’t be nearly as dangerous today.

nbcguy54ACTUAL

They put a satellite in space back in February. Why are certain administration officials “suddenly” concerned now? If you can put something in space you can usually send things a long way downrange as well. Duh.

11b-mailclerk

A hypothetical:

(From an unofficial post-20-Jan official, to a minor member of the China embassy)

“Totally off the record of course, and in strictest confidence. The day we detect a threataning launch, or come to believe one is about to occur, three things will happen. One, the DMZ gets reinforced, and becomes essentially impenetrable. Two, the Nork government gets decapitated, its major power centers obliterated. Three, one hundred percent of our propoganda in the area speaks of the bounty of food available in China.”

“Might i suggest it is not in your interests to try to absorb 20 million howling fanatic Koreans?”

W2

Screw that guy. I’ll take the DDG-51 / Kongo class shield of Zeus and SM6 any day of the week. Plus that launch site is prolly about a 20 minute flight from Osan. One thing though, the CHICOM’s don’t want him getting froggy because they know 1. He’ll get rolled up by the ROK’s and 8th Army PDQ which leads to 2. A reunified Korea, friendly to the US, now nuclear armed, with troops on the good side of the Yalu river. They’ll let fat boy only go far enough to start a fight he’ll lose. Fight tonight baby!

W2

Oh, I forgot to mention a little system called THAAD. Guess the CHICOM’s can’t squeal about that now that el douchebag has a bigger missile. On second thought, how did this even happen? Were the CHICOM’s too interested in their static island chain in the SCS? They don’t want THAAD in the ROK, and then served up the perfect reason for it being there. That doesn’t make sense. Then again, commies usually don’t make sense.

11B-Mailclerk

Just imagine we decaptitate the Nork political and military, start a rumor of incredible stores of food in adjacent china, and start a joint ROK/US drive north from the DMZ. China winds up with 20 million fanatic Norks to assimilate, and Seoul winds upon with control of all of the peninsula.

With modern scatterable minefields, and proper air coverage, we can make the cross-Yalu counterattack cost-prohibitive. Plus the 20 million Norks running amok in the Chinese rear kinda screws up logistics, just by looting the rations at every opportunity. The bloodbath in China can be blamed on their inhuman withholding of food from refugees.

OK. Cheap novel stuff. But a man can dream, right?

A Proud infidel®™

Depends on who’s POTUS. If it’s a Republican, EVERY bit of all the misery and death will be the President and GOP’s fault according to the libtard proglodyte media.

11B-Mailclerk

So? (Grin)

W2

I think it’d be more like 1950 and the CHICOM’s would come across the Yalu to preserve their buffer state. It’d be on like Donkey Kong then.

11B-Mailclerk

“Air and artillery scatterable minefields”

“Cluster bombs”

“MLRS barrages”

Those, plus the whole “we see you coming, this time” thing, makes a repeat of 1950 unlikely.

We developed systems int he 1970s and 19080 to stop a notional Soviet rush to Portugal. The Red Army then is far more mobile, far more “mechanized” that the current Peoples Liberation Army.

The main reason the Chinese did so well in 1950, is that our side refused to believe that a PRC intervention was a) possible and b) happening until far, far too late.

Deployed properly, one MLRS vehicle can reduce one square kilometer to red mist. What a squadron of B-52s or B-2s can do boggles the mind.

With the proper prep time, we can be in a position to make life very, very painful for the PRC-PLA. The trick is to use their size and known strategies against them, while avoiding a decisive bayonet-to-bayonet engagement, and then tangling them up someplace else (or several) where “face” is important. It requires risks, and requires accepting casualties, but China is far from “invincible” if we play the game correctly.

And their key #1 strategy is as the Soviets: convince the USA they -cannot- win any fight, because the USA -can- in fact win.

Green Thumb

Kim Jong Shitbag just looks like he got a whiff of a steaming pile of Phil Monkress.

That sucks.
