Maduro chased through streets by protesters

The New York Times reports that Venezuelans chased their president, Nicolás Maduro, through the streets of Villa Rosa on Margarita Island off the coast of northern Venezuela, when he appeared at a political event there to open some public housing units there.
Scenes from the confrontation late Friday, which also appeared in videos uploaded to social media, captured the attention of Venezuelans, many of whom blame the unpopular president for the country’s food shortages.
In one video, Mr. Maduro tries to calm the pot-bangers by walking among them, only to be surrounded as the furious crowd yells obscenities.
[…]
Pedro Carvajalino, a pro-government television anchorman, said the protesters had been sent by [Henrique Capriles, an opposition governor who lost to Mr. Maduro in the presidential election in 2013] and other members of the opposition.
“It was a lack of respect to presidential dignity,” Mr. Carvajalino said.
You know, as opposed to the lack of respect to human dignity that Venezuelans have suffered – like the dignity of being able to eat and stuff. Twenty protesters were arrested after the demonstration.
The New York Times admits that Maduro would probably lose a recall vote.
If the referendum happens this year and Mr. Maduro loses, Venezuelans will have the opportunity to elect a new president. But the government, which is responsible for organizing such a vote, wishes to hold it next year. If Mr. Maduro loses in 2017, the leftist vice president will serve what is left of his six-year term.
Polls show that Mr. Maduro would be likely to lose a referendum.
Thank Jimmy Carter, kids.

Maduro? !Pendejo puto puta!
Que sus días se terminan muy malos!
Day-um girl! Don’t sugar coat it!
“pot bangers”
This is all you can do without a second amendment. Bang an empty pot.
Let Maduro forget to pay and feed what little of a Military he has and see how quickly they have a Coup D’etat.
Oh, but the guys with the guns eat first. Always been like that.
Maduro ain’t likely to forget that.
??
26Limabeans, the empty pots they were banging are the symbol of the chavez/maduro regime’s failure to understand simple economics.
They weren’t brought along to be used as weapons, so your statement is a bit off.
All the crowd had to do was drop the pots and beat Maduro to death in the streets. They didn’t.
A ‘2nd amendment’ has nothing to do with the pot banging. However, in this country, confiscation of private firearms should be stopped before it starts.
I take the empty pot to be symbol of starvation.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day but give a man a gun and he doesn’t have to eat fish.
Point taken.
Maybe some folks in D.C. can take the hint and example and chase the fraud in the off white house down the street!!!
In Panama after Noriega gave himself up one fine evening (as if he had a choice), the area of the city I was in went nuts. Amongst the honking horns were countless pots and and pans banging. From the balconies, from the street sides… it was nuts. I was on a small squad sized patrol and we took cover wondering what the hell was happening as everyone took to the streets. Moments later we received radio message about what was up. Then it was celebration time. I have some good pictures with Panamanians in night gowns with pots and pans! Lol. I still love to tell the pots and pans chaos and confusion story.
Awesome. With any luck, Maduro will be decorating a lightpole in the near future.
Hopefully by his ankles. Sorta like that little eyetalian guy back in the forty’s.
It is so bad that cattle farmers have been losing their livestock to rustling, even though the Army has been giving them help in stopping it. The dumbassery and incompetence in Maduro’s brand of idiocy is coming home to roost now. If the crowd didn’t tear him apart, which they could have done, they used great restraint. Next time, he won’t be quite so lucky.
Here’s a link to a website devoted to Venezuelan economic news. It appears that the Maduro government will default on $5 billion of debt in the fall.
https://venezuelanalysis.com/news/economy
I doubt if that will keep him and his inner circle in the lap of luxury while everyone else starves.
Well, personally, I think that crowd of angry pot-bangers that surrounded him showed great restraint.
A default on Venezuela’s debt may bring the Army to the point of unseating him, especially since he is already so unpopular.
I’m surprised his people allowed him to go into that environment. Yeah, it was great restraint. It seems he could have easily been overwhelmed.
As fat as Marudo is, he could have fed a lot of them….
Just sayin’….
Only 5 Billion? Chicken feed for O’Bozo and what’s left of the American economy.
Isn’t this turd and regime the post child of what the DNC and Rino Republicans want for Americans
Yup. This is the end stage of Bernie’s “democratic socialism.”
Whoa now. Bernie is a DEMOCRATIC socialist. He will only redistribute wealth and ruin your economy if YOU want him to. It totally makes a difference.
Note: There are actually people who believe this logic.
There are sufficient examples out there (this being one) that illustrate the saying: The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.
Bernie, Odumba, Shrillary, Reid and the other idiots have the best of intentions; they just aren’t smart enough to recognize the facts before their eyes.
Include too incompetent’ in that sentence, BillM., and you’ve nailed it.
Sorry. Hillary and Reid have no good intentions. They’re strictly in it for themselves and nothing else.
Bill M: Of the four you mention, purely on a personal level and leaving out politics, I think Reid is by far the biggest pile of fecal matter. I’m sure the Democrats will rise to the occasion and tour his major contributions to America and the downtrodden. I hope some Republicans rise to the occasion of his retirement and bash him on the floor of the Senate, but I’m not betting any money. He is, IMO, a despicable human. He is all about himself.
Tout, darnit
And some day, he will die, and if we’re lucky, no one will remember his name.
No. Not even close. Bernie’s social democratic/social market model is different in nearly every way.
Most of the countries using the model Bernie proposes are doing better than the US in every measure of quality of life including political and social freedom.
The end stage crony capitalist/finance feudalist model we now have in the US has already utterly destroyed our democracy and established the most massive and pervasive security state ever perpetrated on a society and we have been sleeping in freedom indexes for almost two decades.
Capitalism does not equal freedom. The most capitalist country in the world is one of the least free; Hong Kong.
What the hell do you know about feudalism, shithead?
This oughta be good!
Quite a bit. But what difference does it make? I am not talking about classical feudalism anyway.
Poodleboy, if there are other countries using Bernies market model that is better than ours, why don’t you fucking give up your citizenship and move there?
For the same fucking reason you don’t join another army just because it is better trained or equipped.
Because I want to fight to make THIS country better and more free.
Interesting.
Why change this country when you can just go to a country that suits your needs? Since it’s so awesome elsewhere.
Hong Kong is not a country. It is part of China. Would you call HK the most capitalist country under Communist rule?
Oh, yeah – I just love this!
Hong Kong is not a country, Poodledick, you moron. It is on the Chinese mainland and has NEVER been an independent country. It was a colony of the British Crown until 1999, when control of Hong Kong was handed over to the Chinese government.
It has NEVER – I REPEAT: NEVER! – been a country. EVER!
You just proved what an ignorant ass you really are.
I’m going back to my cornbread and bean soup. Yummies!!!
“I’m going back to my cornbread and bean soup.”
HEY, me too. I did make cornbread the other day and it turned out really good, the best I have made in a time. Also made Navy Beans to go with, and today made Pinto Beans. Both made from dry beans and soaked overnight. Great chow, low fat, high fiber. Got beans and cornbread right on table beside me. Nom, nom, nom
I used canned beans this time, because I was in a hurry, but it takes them too long to reach the proper point of texture. Dry beans get there in a much better way and they cost a lot less, too. Even so, supper was quite good! And I have a half watermelon in the fridge for tonight.
Semantic bullshit. Technically Taiwan is not a separate country either but calling it a country captures the fact that it operates under a separate governing system than China.
And Hong Kong is not regarded as part of mainland China. Not even by China.
China agreed to allow Hong Kong to operate as an independent system for 50 years from the handover
You like to take the most idiotic shit out of context while completely missing the point in the process.
Hong Kong has an indépendant economic system and it among the most capitalist in the world. Yet it is far from a free “country”, “autonomous region”, whatever the fuck you want to call it.
It has a lot of smog too and is still not a sovereign state.
Glad someone was up last night to respond to The Dense One. He is SO predictable.
And you ALWAYS give yourself away. You just can NOT resist picking a fight over nothing. And not only that, this time the IDIOT contradicted himself.
First he says Hong Kong is a country, then he says it is not.
I just love it when an asshole like Lars the Poodledick makes himself an even bigger asshole by contradicting his own words in public like this.
Congratulations, birdbrain! You just won the Grand Prize for Dumbassery this week!!! You can pick up your winnings on your way out the back door.
I honestly think I have cut farts with more brains and common sense than he has.
That would not surprise me, API.
“And Hong Kong is not regarded as part of mainland China. Not even by China”.
That must be news to China seeing as they are responsible for the military protection of Hong Kong and do not allow them to maintain their own military force.
Comrade Poodle Dik….You suddenly wear your “Commissar” title so proudly. Do you REALLY know the definition? You, the one who wrote on this very web site. “People who are afraid of Communism are foolish”. Damn, man, where are you posting from….Venezuela?? Rather doubt you and your Commie hero are thin and frail from lack of food.
com·mis·sar
ˈkäməˌsär/Submit
noun
an official of the Communist Party, especially in the former Soviet Union or present-day China, responsible for political education and organization.
a head of a government department in the former Soviet Union before 1946.
a strict or prescriptive figure of authority.
“our academic commissars”
Poodledick, I’m betting that one of the countries you’re alluding to is Denmark.
Bernie has already stated he loves all the free stuff they provide, except it isn’t free.
With a personal tax rate ceiling at 60% and a flat consumer goods tax rate of 25%, somebody is paying for those freebies.
Socialism works until you run out of other peoples money…
Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Netherlands.
He also proposes aspect of the Japanese and German system with respect to labor/corporate relations and some administrative public services.
Our US tax rate ceiling exceeded 80% at the time of significant prosperity in our nation.
How would you contribute to Bernies plan? It’s fun talking about the working man paying for all the free stuff.
Dude, you have to be a troll, to post such ztoopidity and nonsense.
All those little countries you mentioned became rich using free market capitalism, and only then became sociokummunists and have been surviving on a miserly 2% growth since then.
Why the hell do you think America provides 92% of all world patents?
Because we are prettier?
You are a fukin retard, dude. STFU.
No, it’s just Commissar switching identities again. Now he’s Commissar Poodledick, whereas before, he was poor ol’ Lostcause.
He’s mostly out of his tiny mind trying to make excuses for all that money he spent on grad school and not having a job yet.
Are you saying that a Master’s in Women’s Studies doesn’t guarantee lucrative job opportunities?
Hey, don’t forget to mention his minor in Gender Studies, think of the great job opportunities with THAT!
I thought his minor was in Transexual Lithuanian authors published between 1847 and 1853? Isn’t that a “check the block” type thing to be then next CEO of MSNBCABCCBSCNN?
Are you guys saying that the networks will roll into just one before long? Except for CNBC, C-Span, FNN – that sort, of course. That will leave a lot of bandwidth for REAL news stations and sports and oh! foreign language channels, something besides Korean and Polish.
Hey, the really big bucks can be found with a graduate degree in Interpretative Dance. I think every one of them now reside in mommy’s basement as they shake their fist at the world. Didn’t these incoming college freshmen have a counselor who was grounded in reality? Interpretative Dance, Gender Studies, LGBT Studies, Female Authors of the 9th Century, African American Studies … WTF. I’m thinking it’s OPM (mommy, daddy, government, whomever) so it’s all make believe/pretend. Then reality enters the picture around junior year when they begin putting out feelers for a job and … BAM. Screwed, often for life. Well, they can dance behind the counter at Starbucks.
Here’s a list of jobs that qualify a candidate for them:
Busboy
Roadside diner waitress
Meter maid
Condemned building janitor
I don’t think those degrees will qualify anyone for these jobs:
Gravel/aggregate sorter
Garbage truck driver
Baseball batboy
Covered button repairman
You are conveniently forgetting that 80% tax rate was meant to pay for Americas entrance into WWII, pay as you go.It was never meant to be forever.
Dont you have an Occupy protest you’re late for?
Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Netherlands
Each of which has a higher tax rate than ours, a higher cost of living, no First or Second Amendment rights and a few of them are becoming rape havens for refugees.
No thank you. I’d rather we didn’t fuck up this country. Maybe they should be more like us instead.
Little known TSO fact, I spent 5 Christmases on Margarita Island in the late 80’s. Was our favorite vacation destination. Last time I was there was in 1993 when I took leave from the Army to visit.
Commissar caught shit and I was nowhere around. Golly. Mark it, Lars.
Oh, don’t worry. He’ll do what he always does: wait until everyone else has gone to bed like sensible people, and then waltz in, lay a few verbal eggs as rebuttals of everything, and then run away.
Meantime, I got two chapters finished, made notes on the next three, reviewed another manuscript so that I can pick up where I left off, and had a piece of turtle cheesecake for a late night snack just now.
How was your day?
Good. Got Mrs. SP4/HMC off to Disney with offspring. Stayed up all night, as usual. This time so I could get them where they needed to be by 0700. So next several days reverting to single status. Have a class tomorrow to (re) learn how to teach Pre-K kids to read. I benefit more than them. Each year I ask my child what books they have to read at home. The answer has always been NONE. Yeah, you do the math and figure out where these kids could easily find themselves later in life. No books. Parents uninterested. I look forward to my lessons with them. Have thought of being Big Brother, Safe Haven Sponsor, Child Advocate or even a Foster Parent. Yeah, sadness they have no books. I always load them up with books I buy. Have to run them through the ‘system’ for approval, though. You might be surprised what is not allowed. Or maybe not. I give them very simple-to-read books that always include African American AND Caucasian subjects. I think, maybe, they relate better. Maybe not. At a minimum maybe they learn that different peoples can coexist. The little turds are like sponges at that age. That’s the time to get to them. Later? I think a great opportunity is lost if not begun earlier.
