Tuesday morning feel good stories

| August 9, 2016

William Cox broke into a West Monroe, Louisiana home. His pointless screaming woke the residents, who walked him outside at gun point to wait for the police. Officers say that the homeowner fired a round into the ground to punctuate his talk with Cox.

Lisa, a store clerk in Houston, Texas says that she went a little crazy when armed gunmen tried to rob her. Judge for yourself (They have trouble at the ABC13, Houston website);

It’s not known if she hit any of the thieves, but she did jack up the price of ammo in the area.

A knife-wielding intruder broke into a home in Norwalk, California, and he was met by the homeowner who shot him once in the torso. Police took the crook to the hospital where they claim that he’s in stable condition.

In Spring, Texas, two off-duty police officers were at Whataburger with their families when two armed, masked men rushed into the restaurant. One of the thieves jumped over the counter and attacked an employee. One of the officers opened fire and hit one of the targets 10-12 times. Both thieves ran outside, but one didn’t make it too far before he collapsed. He’s at the hospital now in critical condition. His friend is still on the run.

‘Cause anything worth shooting is worth shooting a lot!

Frankie Cee "In the clear"

The money comment.

Doug

yeah, but how do you hit a guy a dozen times, not hit anyone else with rounds punching through, and have him survive? that shot grouping is just mind-boggling.

West Monroe, Louisiana? I’m surprised that the intruder wasnt featured as a long lost member of the Robertson clan on an episode of Duck Dynasty.

I love me some Lisa. You da bomb, girl.

10-12 hits and the dude’s alive? That’s a lot of hits to still being breathing my air. Douche got what he deserved.

We go to Whataburger a lot. I’m thinking the chances of there being a LEO in there, in uniform or not, is pretty good. It’s a friendly hangout for the LEOs. That’s one of the reasons we go there.

Had that been in Slammintonio it would have been 2 ea, DRT with half of the expended ammo. Our men and women in blue take range time seriously….

Roger in Republic

Didn’t a San Antonio police Lt. take out a perp with a hundred yard head shot using a pistol? Seems I remember something like that last year. Along the lines of “Good shootn’ Tex”?

nbcguy54ACTUAL

Don’t know about 100 yds, but I do recall a fairly long shot being successfully made not to long ago.

I need to go look it up – it just might make me grin….

Hayabusa

The thief must have been a Cyberdyne T-1000. It’s the only explanation.

Thunderstixx

The difference between a 9mm and a .45 is, shooting more than twice is a waste of ammo…
12 hits and still alive?
Range time for several of today’s contestants !!!

Graybeard

I call “BS” on the 9mm v .45 screed. There are too many factors involved to blame it all on a difference in caliber.

Get an experienced soldier (SEAL, Ranger, whatever) who has had to shoot folks, and so is used to it. Give him his 9mm, and the bad guy a .45. The experienced guy will have the advantage.

Plus – range time alone doesn’t prepare one sufficiently for the adrenalin rush of a moving target that is, or can, shoot back. That takes some intensive training, plus some field experience, to even come close to being prepared.

But the 9mm v .45 debate. BS – pure ignorant BS.

Doc Savage

Wow….I havent seen a firepower display like that since witnessing the “Iraqi Death Blossom” in Southern Baghdad…..

Sarge

i had my own death blossom in Habbaniya back in 2005…was not fun.

Lt said he never seen me climb a ladder so fast to get into the tower

Ex-PH2

Girl with a gun, and willing to use it.

Note to criminal types: do not underestimate girl power.

Graybeard

Amen!

Two out of four from Houston (Spring is a northern suburb) – one would think someone would wake up and realize you can get shot breaking the law around here.

Fjardeson

Houston resident here. They ought to know better, even in the urban areas there are a lot of folks packing heat!

Today is the anniversary of the atomic bomb being dropped on Nagasaki, leading to the surrender of Japan on 15AUG45. Sooo many opinions re the need to use the bomb. Well, it almost certainly saved countless Allied lives, so I say yea.

desert

Well, believe it or not, it saved thousands and thousands of Japanese lives as well! A beach landing would have been a slaughter on both sides!
