More “ObamaCare” News
Well, we have some more news about that Plainly Pathetic Abominable Collection of Asininity Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, AKA “ObamaCare”. And as is usual, the news isn’t all that good for the US taxpayer.
First, here’s an Item I apparently overlooked previously. Remember those “non-profit cooperatives” that were supposed to provide much of ObamaCare’s insurance coverage? Remember that as of last October, nearly half of them had folded?
Well, about a month ago more info was released about just how badly those cooperatives did, financially, in 2014 and 2015. (Short version: they lost their butts.)
By March, the number of failed cooperatives was up to 12. These cooperatives lost $376 million in 2014. In 2015, their losses are estimated at $1 billion. And they apparently still owe hospitals and doctors around $1 billion as well.
The “rest of the story”? Well, the Federal government apparently loaned cooperatives around $2.4 billion collectively at start-up. The 12 failed cooperatives apparently still haven’t repaid $1.2 billion that the Federal government loaned them.
Gee. That means one of two things will happen. Either we the taxpayer will eat the cost of those loans – or their parent firms will raise future premiums to cover losses as well as repaying them. Which means that you and I will pay for them through increased premiums in the future.
Wonderful. Just freaking wonderful.
In fact, it appears that the higher premiums may take effect later this year. The new 2017 “ObamaCare” premiums are expected on 1 November. Premiums announced in November (for next year) are expected to show rather marked increases over last year’s ObamaCare exchange premiums.
How much? Well, I’m not sure – but last year, premiums were up an average of “only” 8% or so, and the current gang of fools in DC who foisted this idiocy on the American public Administration touted that fact as “good news”. I’m not really sure why, though – in contrast, CPI inflation for 2015 was 0.1%. (Yes, that is a zero to the left of the decimal point.)
Gee – losing money out the wazoo, billions in outstanding debts and loans, and substantial future price increases virtually guaranteed. What’s not to like? (smile)
Sheesh. We need to kill this idiotic mistake of a law posthaste. Then burn its corpse until its ash, mix the ashes with quicklime and water, and dump the resulting slurry down an abandoned mine shaft. Then dynamite the mine shaft so it collapses.

Remember, all of these defects are a designed in “feature” of ObamaCare.
The goal is the crash-and-burn of health care in the USA. Then “Single Payer / Hillary Care / Army Troop Medical Clinics” will be trotted out as the solution nation wide.
The so-called “leadership” of both political parties has fully accepted this as a done-deal.
( And the GOP can’t figure out why their core constituency is rebelling … )
I remember the TMCs from the service. BAD! Not an acceptable answer even for the suicidal.
Make obozo pay it! he spent it, he can repay it!!
Here’s another suggestion. Reinstitute Operation Ranch Hand II, III or IV or whatever, and spray the sandboxes with the resulting slurry.
It would be a good alternative to nuking from orbit and probably be just as effective to insure nothing grows there for the next million years.
Better than that, pour the slurry down the pieholes of the various politicians who ignored the wills of their constituents – O’Bola, Pelousi, Dingy Harry, and other DemonRats. Set their corpses on public display as an example to others.
Don’t forget their RINO cohorts!
For one insurer to post a loss of 2/3 of a billion (United, $650 million) in one year says that this plan is pure bullshit and was from the beginning.
Insurers are required to carry a cash pool to cover payouts, whether it’s directly to service providers or directly to the insured. It is not profit.
The fact that the morons who put this asinine plan together don’t understand or care about that simple fact means that they had an agenda all along, as others of you have said. The reasoning behind it doesn’t make any sense, but it’s leading everyone in this country right down the road to Medicaid/Medicare, which will destroy the entire health care system for future recipients.
Sure, in the UK, you can get any care you need or want, but if it’s the more expensive kind like cancer treatment or cardiac care, you have to wait in line until they can get to you, which means that you either go to an emergency room or drop dead in your tracks. The last time I looked at UK healthcare, about a year ago, the number of hospitals open and available had dropped considerably.
Oh, yeah – in the Netherlands, people who are elderly or have terminal illnesses are being asked to sign DNRs (do not revive).
So much for socialized medicine. Maybe Nicki could give us her view of the REAL stuff, since she got to know it firsthand before she and her parents left the USSR.
But… but, this is what are “favorite” SJW commentor and others of his mindset wanted… more free shit! ACA wasn’t going to work from the day it was drafted by the AARP and other groups, and San Fran Nan and her minions shoved it up the country’s ass as “Obama’s crowning legacy”. It relied on health people signing up and paying for those that were in poor health and it hasn’t happened – and “socialized medicine” IS NOT the way to go, unless you like long waiting lines for appointments and procedures and 3rd world providers taking care of you.
Don’t forget that Hillary was pushing this garbage years before Obama came along.
Bingo.
And we can thank the people who stole the 2008 MN Senate election for Franken via vote fraud for this present-day abomination.
I suspect that inflation is higher than reported. Remember, it’s all about what is and isn’t included in the count by the government that determines the rates. Sort of like “disagreement” about what are the true unemployment numbers.
While the precise number given in the source I cited may or may not be correct, inflation was indeed exceptionally low last year by historical standards. It certainly was nowhere near 8%.
I don’t doubt it. Yet after 8 yrs of misdirection about unemployment, economic growth, and other rates of how awesome the technocrats of da one administration…

Wow. “We need to kill this idiotic mistake of a law posthaste. Then burn its corpse until its ash, mix the ashes with quicklime and water, and dump the resulting slurry down an abandoned mine shaft. Then dynamite the mine shaft so it collapses.”
Then build a stadium over the mine shaft ?!?
Any minute now, Limp-Dick Lars will show up and tell us how we’re not smart enough to see how good worse care for more money is for everyone.
Sheesh. We need to kill this idiotic mistake of a law posthaste. Then burn its corpse until its ash, mix the ashes with quicklime and water, and dump the resulting slurry down an abandoned mine shaft. Then dynamite the mine shaft so it collapses.
Probably should leave it exposed to sunlight for twenty-four hours; although if it burns, the above should work. Ask a monster hunter writer like Larry Correia or maybe a monster writer like Pete Abrams.
Whatcha going to burn it with? My guess would be napalm; a 55 gallon drum wrapped in det cord wtih a pound of C-4 to kick it should probably work. Silver wire might immobilize it.
Nuclear is *almost* certainly overkill and the radiation could cause it to mutate into something worse if one could stomach the Grecian implications of that.
(Sheesh; I need to get back to reality. The is like Shadowrun or Paranoia or something.)
“Then dynamite the mine shaft so it collapses.”
But wait, there’s more! Before firing the dynamite, be sure to add in the stupid politicians who voted for this horsepucky. Then light the fuse.
Until we have a single-payer system, and one that is permitted by law (and you would think the laws of the marketplace) to bargain with providers, nothing is going to happen. The current Obamacare looks nothing like what was originally proposed, as anything bold or game-changing was gutted to make for giveaways to Big Pharma and the insurance industry.
Anyone who criticizes the British, Canadian or other systems is basically saying that we Americans are somehow not capable of doing it better. We probably aren’t, because any attempt to force concessions on healthcare providers, -anything that endangers the 15-35% profits their shareholders expect- will be resoundingly rejected by congress, -both sides of the aisle.
Without universal healthcare, the country has no right to expect that there will be a pool of healthy manpower to draw on in case we actually have to fight a war big enough to call on the draft. What percentage of 17-35 year-olds are fit to fight right now, medically or dentally?
