Monday morning feel good stories
First up, from Shreveport, Louisiana, Barbara Barnum got a restraining order against her ex-husband, Rodney Anderson a few days ago, but because a restraining order is only a piece of paper, Anderson went to visit with Branum who was in fear and shot his ass. That made it easier for the police to arrest him for violating the piece of paper.
In Lynchburg, Virginia, another domestic dispute was ended by gunfire when Eric Meadows had to shoot at Curtis Edward Thrasher after Thrasher had rammed Meadows’ mother’s car twice with his and then chased her into the woods firing a gun. Meadows saw the events unfold and took his friend’s gun and forced Thrasher back into his vehicle. Apparently, no one was injured mostly because Meadows says that he was looking past his target and didn’t see a good opportunity for a clean shot without endangering someone else.
A stupid criminal story from Las Cruces, New Mexico; Ellis C. Battista needed cigarettes. Bad. He went to the local 24-hour convenience store at 3AM to purchase a pack, but found them closed. He broke down the door, took a pack and left $6 for payment. Well, now he’s been arrested for felony B&E and on the hook for the door ($800). Police suspect that alcohol was a factor.

“because a restraining order is only a piece of paper“,,,
Fortuanately people are becoming legally armed to defend themselves against those who disregard legal orders.
Except in places like New Jersey. People die waiting for permits for weapons in Jersey.

If someone wants you dead, at some point that someone will make you dead. Paper can’t stop that. This thread prompted me to look at some statistics regarding what used to be called domestic violence, what then became family violence, and what now is called intimate partner violence. The stats are all over the place and are used with great cleverness by agenda-driven groups. When it comes to homicide—as opposed to murder—it appears that firearms are used in roughly half of the cases. I really thought it would be much higher. And I was quite surprised to see how relatively low the murder rate is overall for these intimate partner violence cases, given how much attention is paid to the “War on Women.” None of this is to suggest that beating or killing another person because they pissed you off is excusable or acceptable. It is merely to point out that when it comes to husbands or boyfriends killing their female spouses or girlfriends, I was surprised to see how few deaths there are and equally surprised to see how the numbers are manipulated for all sorts of purposes.
‘a restraining order is only a piece of paper’ – yes, and this is why proper self-defense against an ex-whatever requires range time and practice. Ms. Barnum did a fine job shooting her ex’s ass, but I would also give him a reason to have to sit to urinate for a long time.
“L-S-M-F-T” Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco. We had another meaning for that in service which I will refrain from posting due to the ladies in the audience.
