Paul Rieckhoff should check his veterans’ privilege
I’m not a Donald Trump fan by any stretch of the imagination. He can’t handle criticism from Megan Kelly, but he wants to be President. There’s a debate among the Republican candidates and Trump took his marbles, what few he has left, and decided that he won’t participate in the debate because Kelly scares him. Instead he is going to have his own event donating the proceeds to veterans and wounded warriors. OK, well money is money. From CNN;
Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America founder Paul Rieckhoff tweeted Wednesday that he would decline any contributions that came from the event, which Trump has proposed in place of his attending Fox News’ debate this week.
“If offered, @IAVA will decline donations from Trump’s event. We need strong policies from candidates, not to be used for political stunts,” he said.
So Paul Rieckhoff, the founder of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, an organization which sprang from the anti-Bush group OpTruth, decided that he won’t accept any money from Trump. Trump didn’t offer any money to the IAVA, so I’m thinking that just by turning down the funds from Trump before the money is even offered to IAVA is a political stunt, the same kind that Rieckhoff is accusing Trump of perpetrating. IAVA is certainly not the only veterans’ organization, and Paul would only waste the money on advancing his own name anyway – that’s what he does best. I’m thinking that if Trump offered Rieckhoff a slot on celebrity Apprentice, Rieckhoff would trample pedestrians to get to the studio. If the money was offered by Hillary Clinton he’d waste half of it on a presentation ceremony.
By the way, why isn’t there any Democrat candidate offering money to veterans’ and wounded warrior issues?
Money is important to veterans and their issues which need fixing, does it matter where the money comes from? Really matter in The Great Scheme of Things? Many of us veterans are tired of being used by Paul Rieckhoff and his minions at IAVA for their political stunts.
ADDED: During the last presidential elections he warned other Republican candidates about using the troops for their political stunts, too.

Jonn taught me Paul Rieckhoff is dick!
Jonn good teacher!
Out!
Lt
Dan8====D~~~~This clown needs to stick his political bullshyt up his ass! Any money that helps the veterans should be received with great appreciation, however with a bullshyt artist like this, makes me wonder if the money is going to the veterans??
I wonder if Paul Reickoff treats himself to a salary from his funds like Weinstein does?
Hey Reickoff:
<3( )*( )
This guy is a Jack ASS!!!!!
Hmmm. .. sez he won’t take money from Republitards, but sez nothing about taking money (or not) from DemonRats. . .. .hhhmmmm. . .. .
(Twilight Zone Rod Sterling voice)… Imagine if you will, a presidental election with no viable candidate.
*wild applause*
Why imagine? We have the ever-lovable Donald clowning around the big top making a fool of himself. I find the idea that this guy could be elected president profoundly disturbing. We have a proven felon with the national security sense of a jelly doughnut. We have socialist who wants to spend more government money while we also have the largest national debt in history. And we have several first-term senators. We all know how beautifully that worked for the last two terms. I don’t have to imagine, it is not necessary.
The difference is that these Senators aren’t minority hires. Both Cruz & Rubio have demonstrated high levels of achievement from their own effort, as opposed to having it handed to them.
A better analogy would be Dr. Carson, who has precisely zero political experience.
Cruz and Rubio are unfortunately Obama clones. No substantial authorship, zero executive experience more of the same.
There’s no win there for the nation. They might be better than Obama, but not by much. Cruz tends to choose politics of destruction instead of bipartisanship. Great for the tea party hyperbole, not so great in a president.
CBS news pounded the Wounded Warriors Project pretty good on TV last night. Gotta be careful how that veteran donation is spent….

Been seeing A LOT of online press about their shit today…. something about a party for the staff that cost in the MILLIONS! WWP hasn’t done shit for vets except roll them in front of the cameras asking for cash from John and Jane Doe, and them paying themselves off FIRST.
As for Rieckhoff and IAVA, they are full of it. He’s suck off the barbed cock of Satan to get money in his pocket…
Might want to check back around 0830 today. (smile)
Presidential candidates shouldn’t be using charitable donations as a way for reaching for votes. Trump is only doing this to give himself political cover for skipping the debate. He’s basically using our wounded comrades as a shield.
Fuck this draft dodging piece of shit, we can do better.
Aw, c’mon, F11b. Trump Chump went to military school for a while. That’s close to the same as going through boot camp/basic, isn’t it?
/sarc/
Seldom have I ever run across anyone more in to self-promotion than Paul Rieckhoff.
He and Trump are really not that much different.
Clown.
And on a side note, this upside down stuff is throwing me for a loop.
I was thinking the same thing. They are a match made in heaven. Both big mouth self promoters with sketchy pasts. Paul Rieckhoff is a shitbag.
you never went inverted? /s
I feel a song welling up in my heart… No, it’s more of a hymn. Where’s the choir?
Gimme a moment to warm up.
I did an IRS 990 form review of the Wounded Warrior Project a couple of years ago and was stunned by the high salaries and other bennies they pay the top executives. One reported expenditure was an off-duty party for nurses at Lanstuhl Medical Center, not for the wounded, only for the nurses. Several vets in the field have bad mouthed WWP for not putting their money at ground level. But WWP is high viz and as long as the average GI Joe does not read their IRS 990’s they will continue to raise big bucks. I am not saying they don’t do good, what I am saying is they don’t do as good as they should and the wounded heroes don’t get as much of the money spent on them as I would like to see. Then when a MOAA chapter or council publicized WWP’s high salaries, MOAA HQ had a fit. It was not anyone in Arkansas. I subsequently learned the just retired MOAA President, a retired three star, was compensated over half a million dollars a year, which may explain why MOAA HQ did not want attention drawn to high salaries. It is also why I walked away from MOAA. Warrant Officer Protective Association here I come.
Good luck with the Warrant Officer Protective Association. If you find it please post contact details.
I heard that they wanted to put a CW5 in charge, but couldn’t find any.
thought you warrants were the kind of officers that said, “Here watch this shit” and made it happen, lol.
Maybe that was true back in the good old days. Today “Here watch this shit” typically leads to tab revocation followed by “you have the right to remain silent” lol
Let’s also not forget about the many lawsuits WWP has filed against many smaller charity outfits to remove “Wounded” and or “Warrior” from their titles, I’m sure they’ve spent plenty of money on lawyers to do their hit jobs as well!
How many debates must republicans do? 10? 30? 50?
At some point the bullshit advertisements events with got ya questions masquerading as a debate need to be called out.
I applaud trump for saying enough is enough. The whole diva Megan(remember the correct spelling before stripper spelling became the norm) charade is getting tiresome. Fox is scared shitless because they won’t get ratings which is all they care about and the more they fight the more they lose with republicans.
I know someone who knew Paul from the NY ARNG. Let’s just say that I don’t think Paul was too familiar with the Army values.
He’s definitely familiar around these parts. Use the blog search for him or IAVA. Heh.
WWP is a bullshit organization. The stories of them only sending a couple of blankets with their logo on them or a couple of hats or some other stupid useless thing are legendary now.
The way they play on the feelings of Americans of doing something good for the troops makes me sick.
They are nothing but left wing charlatans looking to feather their own nest at the expense of the men and women that do all the hard and dangerous work inherent in the call they answered…
I give to the USO, the Salvation Army and a couple of local organizations for Veterans.
Screw WWP…

Reickoff is well known for his partisanship in DC, which is why IAVA isn’t as effective as the VFW and Legion when advocating for veteran issues with Congress critters. A ‘Legend in his own mind’ kind of guy.
I must admit, I got talked into joining IAVA some years ago by an old buddy I deployed with, and have regretted it. Like many others, I was not aware of a lot of the backstories behind many of these characters running the organization.
Live and learn from mistakes. We all make them.
Since you’re a TAH reader, I trust you’re no longer associated with that “stellar group of fine individuals”.
No, I still get their emails, but that’s about the brunt of it. I’m just a little wary of them having copies of my DD-214 and other PII.
Live and learn, I guess.
Reickhoff reminds me of the time when Michael Jordan announced he was gonna “choose” not to play in the PGA. Kinda like I’m gonna “choose” not to date Scar-Jo or Emma Stone.
I’m just a bit confused.
Is it “Reickhoff”, or “Wreckhoff”?
I think the Rei is pronounced like a Ja as in Jackoff….
I believe I’ve seen reference to that more than a few times about Paul Jackoff…
More like “Sound off”…
FWIW, it’s been revealed that the Fox News Vice President Bill Sammon has a daughter working as Rubio’s press secretary.
There’s a potential for conflict of interest there that should have been disclosed prior to them trashing Trump for not appearing.
I’m not a fan of the Donald, but I’m less a fan of those who purport to be seeking the fair and balanced truth failing to disclose their own issues.

Another group has joined IAVA in turning down Trump’s money – VoteVets & Jon Soltz just announced. VoteVets is funded by MoveOn, and they’re purely political. They have more non-military members than veterans. I’m sure Trump wasn’t going to offer them any money anyway – they’re firmly in the bag for Sanders.
It looks like IAVA and Votevets’ gestures were in vain. Trump is donating the money to his own foundation.
Which is a bit of a joke as well, considering his foundations donations to military charities (7 of them) was 57,00 between 2009 and 2013. In the same time frame they sent the Clinton Foundation 100-250,000 dollars.
The Donald is not the man so many think he is…
It was not criticism from Megan Kelly, and he was not scared of it. It was Rupert Murdock attacking Trump while cowering behind Megan’s ladyparts. The recent debate Trump is pulling out of Fox lined up both an illegal alien, a muslim ,Nabela Noor, that hates everything about America except the benefits office to attack Trump at the debate. If they couldn’t edit it Trump could Trump the sows.
It is fun to see the code pink of veteran’s groups making a name for themselves again. I bet this douchebag was a First Sergeant’s dream Soldier.
