Friday morning feel good stories

| December 25, 2015

In St Cloud, Florida, a homeowner grabbed his gun when an intruder broke through his screened in porch and was trying to get into the kitchen. The homeowner confronted the intruder who charged the resident. Mr Homeowner fired his gun once, but the thief continued, so the homeowner fired again. The intruder was pronounced DOT (dead over there) at the hospital.

In Las Vegas, Nevada, another homeowner confronted a thief while his wife called 9-1-1. He shot six times through the door, ringing the bell of the intruder who was pronounced DRT (dead right there).

A restaurant worker in Miramar, Florida, used his personal weapon to defend his fellow employees and customers from an armed thief. The criminal was shot several times and pronounced DRT. Police aren’t sure if the employee allowed the criminal to fire his weapon even once.

In Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a fellow broke into a home but he was met by an armed homeowner who drilled him. The burglar ran off and called the police to report that he’d been shot in a drive-by. At about the same time the police got a call from the homeowner to report that he’d shot the burglar. Police, being smart people, figured out the drive-by victim was lying and took him to the hospital so they could jail his ass later.

Merry Bang Bang Bang Christmas! 3 dead and one with a permanent identifying scar. I love it!
But when will they learn that we owners of life and goods want to keep both? <<<<<Rhetorical question, no answer needed.

The right to bear arms shall not be infringed.

True and hopefully every State will pass a law…We all carry legally..

91A10

Freedom-loving Chicagoans are surely excited to finally be able to carry concealed firearms, especially folks with a particularly pressing need to protect themselves.

Like the cell phone store owner who, defending himself from an armed robber, sprang into action to put a bullet in the chest of an innocent 27-year-old man at the bus stop across the street, and another through the wall of the apartment of a nearby family of five (and into their TV set).

Take that, knave!

Whoever you are, that is.

Because he left the scene, unharmed.

But he didn’t get away with the money!

Which is a good thing, because maybe the store owner should pick up the hospital tab for the poor fellow across the street, or the repair bills for his neighbor’s walls, not to mention the TV.

Still, freedom!

Where else but in America could 16 hours of training buy you such deadly accuracy?

Assuming you think public transportation and private consumer electronics are tyrannical, that is……

Better yet, how about the armed robber be responsible for damages? If he hadn’t tried to rob the store in the first place…

but….but….that’s not liberal thinking.lol

The Party of Hell No!

I am all in on this thinking. Rather than thinking with hearts, let us think with our brains… Why is a shop owner/law abiding citizen having to pack a gun or even use a gun? Logically there must have been someone in the store threatening them? Who was this individual? Were they known to the police? (In one of the above stories a known felon was walking home from a bar and was questioned by the police and let go. Why aren’t the police being accused of not arresting this person to protect himself and those in the neighborhood?) Did they have a previous criminal record and if they did how did they get to be standing in this shop trying to rob it? How did they get from being known by the criminal justice system, incarcerated by the criminal justice system, set free/paroled by the criminal justice system? Who are the person or persons who said this person is no longer a threat? We all should know by now most of these perpetrators shot while being a perp are not newbie’s, but long term criminals; so why exactly is the shop keeper being accused? Is he not by this analysis just an extension (i.e. consequence) of the criminal justice system failing to keep these criminals safe and keeping shop owners safe? Is not the criminal justice system forcing private citizens to do what the criminal justice system refuses to do mainly punish and ultimately execute these known criminals? The stunning questions are; does the criminal justice system even realize this is occurring? Do private citizens know this is occurring and ultimately providing indisputable evidence capital punishment does deter crime. I leave this reply with one last thought… Ultimately as citizens demand more relaxed carry laws and as time passes and citizens get comfortable with this role, unlike a Z-nation episode at the end of the second season where the living have no better skill at killing Zombies as the pilot episode, are citizens going to take seriously this role, be safer, efficient and better at executing criminals?

Liberal 91A10? This only provides more reason for hands-on classes for CC and OC, …Evidently this guy had no knowledge of where and how to operate his weapon. Don’t know the details or accuracy of this particular story, but any fool should know where and when it is safe to shoot and what self-defense is all about.

Old Trooper

Yeah, sure; where else but in America? Maybe you just haven’t been mugged, yet? Of course, by your statements, I’m sure you’ll die with the smug knowledge of knowing you didn’t use an evil firearm to protect yourself, or better yet, your loved ones.

Weekend Warrior in Texas

I hope that when you are assaulted, you are not shot by a gun.

This comment is so typical of a Reader of “The Daily Kos”. Not even worth much of a reply. Just a small eyeroll, and a shake of the head.

Hondo

In the past, the original commenter above who mentions the Chicago incident has often posted info that appeared on further investigation to be opinion masquerading as fact, cited questionable and/or biased sources, or made anti-gun comments containing errors of fact or significant material omissions. That pattern continues here.

Whether or not those errors and omissions were/are intentional is an open question. It does, however, IMO indicate a willingness to disregard the truth if saidtruth may be inconvenient or might be different than their preconceived ideas.

It is IMO significant that the Daily KOS story and the comment above both appear to misrepresent the actual incident in question. Specifically, the news story indicates that the individual wounded was (1) hit by a stray round fired during a shootout between the shop owner and the criminal attempting to rob him; (2) does not indicate who fired the wayward shot, and indeed implies that that is not definitively known; (3) omits the fact that the shop owner was defending several of his employees as well as himself; and (4) fails to indicate that the wounded bystander harbors no ill will towards the shop owner, saying, “If somebody had a gun and they were trying to rob me I’d use it too” – presumably speaking about the shop owner’s lawful use of his firearm to defend himself and his employees.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-bystander-wounded-during-shootout-between-robber-shop-owner-20151206-story.html

Each of those is a material fact. I think we know why Daily KOS omitted them. The individual making the misleading comment above will have to answer regarding why he/she chose to do so as well.

Grunt

Because facts don’t matter to someone who has their mind made up.
